Who cares tho man? You rip off a couple of 0-60's and then what?
You gonna do a 9 second 1/4 mile pull in Nanaimo? Get impounded?
It's a pointless car. Yah it's only 55k gbp for 1500hp but t would be totally fine with 400hp and costing 20k gbp.
It's not like it has the wow factor of a Ferrari or Lambo or Bugatti or something else that's also "pointless" for the money. In fact it looks like shit.
Years ago I rented a Model S out in Vegas. Initially, I floored it to see for myself what this EV acceleration was all about... Yah, I did that for about 4-5 times before I just started driving it like a Camry that costs $100k. Is it quick? Yes but damn it was boring... A car that quick needs to stimulate all the senses, it should wake up the neighbors, smell like petrol and constantly give you the feeling that if you fuck up, it's going to kill you.
That's what make cars exciting, without it, it's just meh...

I can blow the doors off of basically anything. It corners flatter than my exige. I can chuck it around in the wet. The stereo is awesome. The seats feel great. It has the best steering wheel! The wife doesn't complain. The kids love getting tossed around in the back.
It's just perfect around town, and it was great as a road trip car (with a bit of planning).
Maybe it is just a appliance type car, but it's just so damn enjoyable. I'll always have a loud second car, but for a primary car a quality EV is awesome.
I don't feel the need for 1000hp though.. that is a bit crazy.
I can see that in my buddy's Taycan GranTurismo or whatever the wagon one is called. It's got some of that drama and flair to it which I think is what you're both alluding to a car needing/having.
My buddy has trouble with his in Calgary because so many of the non-Tesla chargers are broken all the time here, infrastructure sucks, so he has to be really careful where he takes it which is a pretty big down side... he'd probably have an even better experience if he was in the lower mainland with it. He used to have one of the first dual motor Model3's ever made and it served him well, but I doubt he'll go back to a Tesla again.
The Heart of Darkness TSD rally is back, it runs overnight on October 18 out of Kelowna. I know a couple people here have done TSD events in the past and may be interested. For the unfamiliar, it's a driving event on gravel roads that can be done with any road legal car and a codriver. No fancy gear or prep required beyond a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and reflective triangle.
Was reminiscing about my family’s previous vehicles and I just realized that the W124 E320 we had back in South East Asia in 1995/1996 was a special edition one. It was a Masterpiece edition in manual and that seems to be quite rare.
I still have a soft spot for that generation of Mercedes. Peak Mercedes.

Heard on the news that there is a refinery in Cali on fire ... it supplies gas to Pacific Northwest. Price of gas expected to go up due to this, 10-25 cents, so you might want to fill up tonight.
Alright so I can't figure out how to embed Google Photos here so for those interested in the full album of cars I spotted in HK, here's the link. I guess I'll non-sensically cherry pick some pictures, upload to imgur and add some commentary.
As expected, vankulture is pretty big over there. Lots of BBS LMs or "LM"s with Brembo/AP Racing BBKs LOL. 3rd gen alphard is very luxurious too, ended up renting one later in JP.
Spoiler!
The CHYNA EV Vans/CUVs are pretty cool too.
Look how ricey this one looks, its great!
Speaking of CHYNA, I found this 2-door Defender, an EV Macan(?)/Cayenne(?) Turbo, wtf is a BMW iXE or iX1 ///M xDrive30, some weird Smart thing and a BYD Seal (rip off TM3 ish?)
Spoiler!
As expected, I found more Type Rs (FK8/FL5s) than I see in Vancouver. But unexpectedly, I found a BC Racing and Endless Pro Shop LOL.
Radeonboy said he's from Yuen Long.. look at this rice out gem I found. Actually, I found a lot of ricers and modified cars of any kind in YL.
Also spotted a modifed to the tits Jaguar XFR-S (???), an upbadged CSX-S, and a BMW G81 M3 Touring but my phone decided to take an action shot of the scooter instead.
Spoiler!
Turns out idiot drivers are universal and cops in HK use Prado's?
Lastly, here's a two-wheeled smt found on Lantau Island

That is a BMW IX1 / IX2 EV. In your other photos, that Smart is called a #1, and the Porsche is a Macan Turbo EV.
If you're into car spotting, car parks always have interesting finds. Car ownership is pretty expensive in HK, but car culture itself remains resilient despite the challenges based on the variety of vehicles that you'll find.

I swear half of YL vehicles are modified to some degree, the town has a reputation for being a quite reckneck after all

I find Vancouver drivers much more idiotic than HK drivers IMO. HK drivers are aggressive but they're also assertive which makes predicting their actions a lot easier than the clueless drivers roaming Richmond.
The Prado is a HKPF staple, along with 540iA Tourings which I don't think regular citizens can order as a private vehicle.
