Shit thing is the photoelectric window on the 787, doesnt block out the sun completely and breaks often.

Respect to your dads cause aircraft maintenance is a tough gig. Mostly night shifts as that’s the only time planes have downtime. Have to crawl into weird places like the fuel tank. Dealing with toxic chemicals and unclogging the lavatory etc

I don't think I pee more on modern jets, but I definitely don't need to drink as much as I used to flying on 747 with UA or JAL.

Oh yea 100% upper deck 747 was the shit for 14 dolla ballas back in the day. Eva Air had the same set-up too.

I think JL is still king when it comes to economy, biggest economy seats if you get any version of their Sky Wider product.

You have to fly the same airline, and the same location over and over to "know" what the best seats are.

Those "seat maps" are wrong 50% of the time, you think your picking a good seat, and then you end up near the shitter, no recline, behind the engine for extra white noise, etc. The "recline" of seats is near worthless.

Window seat + exit row = max leg room for that extra 10% "fee". Whats an extra 300$ on your yearly vacation. Thats like costco parking 100 times. (Troll)

I've learnt to always double-check the airline seatmaps with Aerolopa, they've been way way more accurate than the competition.

uhhh you know it is......! why else would you yell out something that specific you fucking weirdo!?

yeah.... thats a good engine. carry on sir.

Cmon, don't tell me you don't enjoy giving them a blast of the horn and see them cream their pants a little.

It’s always these creepy old dudes too. Never a single woman. It’s entirely a guy thing to try and fuck Thomas the tank engine in the ass.

My dad worked for HAECO as well, there might be some crossover but I think your dad is probably a bit older than my dad. My dad would have just started working when your dad immigrated. My dad toiled there for a long time and his big break didn't come until he moved to UA. UA had a base in HK for the longest time.

Wow, small world. Yeah my dad is 78 now and I'm not sure if he's been going to the Haeco banquets lately but he used to talk about it a lot and I think I did go along a few times when I was a kid. The men of that era, the way they talked and laughed definitely matched what I used to see in HK movies.

So I bought a new S10+ tablet to use in my kitchen. I've been watching them for a while, most were going for $950-$1000 new. I saw one pop up for $900 and pulled the trigger.

It arrives, I power it on, go through the setup and it asks me to select my region, my choices were:

Panama
Colombia
Chile
Argentina
Peru
Bolivia
Equador
Brazil

LOL. Now I know why it was $50 cheaper than everything else.

Doesn't seem to affect operation much, other than initially installing spanish as a second system language, and having the weather app location default to some city there, which quickly changed once it found my actual location.

unit 11-27-2025 03:27 PM

nice tablet for reading recipes and watching youtube while cooking!

Great68 11-27-2025 03:31 PM

Yeah it's a bit overkill, but it's replacing a TabA from 2019 which just got so slow, without having hardly anything on it other than firefox, video streaming apps.
And wanted something with good screen brightness, when watching at my patio table in the summer.

But yeah I don't think I'm ever going to use the keyboard or the S Pen. I just left those in the box.

!LittleDragon 11-27-2025 03:44 PM

eyeing nothing for Black Friday... Recently picked up a pair of B&W Px8 for $619 when the new S2 model came out. That's enough spending for me this month... lol

Badhobz 11-27-2025 06:58 PM

So I splurged today and bought the canon r7 body only for 1699 at London drugs.
I then traded in my r50 that I bought last year for 600 bucks ( paid 900) so I think it’s a pretty decent deal. Was expecting to lose more

I was gonna wait for the r7 mk2 but that won’t be 1699 for a long long time.

EvoFire 11-28-2025 12:15 AM

Picked up a tent just now through Altitude sports.

Marmot Halo 6, 30% off, extra 10% off with membership, 15% rebate through Rakuten. Regular price 759.99, wife said it comes down to like 425.

unit 11-28-2025 09:54 AM

mec has the sea to summit tents for 50% off rn, although they are not 6 person tents they are small 2-3 person tents. also i get 40% off mec friends and family night which is happening next week... looks like im buying a new backpacking tent.

6 person is huge! do you have 2 kids?
i have a very specious MEC 4 person tent and for the two of us with all our gear it's still an absolute castle.

So even sharper pics of Richmond coyotes on the dyke?

I'm a psuedo AV geek here. But don't fly nearly as often as I used to.

Best economy flight I ever had tbh was Westjet's old ex-Quantas 767 from YVR to LGW. 2 seats in a row, decent legroom. Good service. Only thing that would have made it perfect was LHR instead of LGW.

The other one that comes to mind was Oasis 747-400 YVR-HKG. The plane was half empty, had an entire 4 seats to myself. At the time I was too young to appreciate it for what it was. Today, that's like winning the lotto.

No money for black friday shopping this year.

I've been wanting to replace my dSLRs for quite some time now, and the timing was almost right when both my 24-105 and 70-200 broke down one after another. But the camera bodies themselves are built like old Toyota Corollas that just refuse to die. And bcos they are so old -- 2012 to 2017 models -- they are basically worthless in the used market.

Never mind the fact that if I were to do a like-for-like replacement of my old equipment with something new, it is gonna turn into a $10k or $12k affair... FailFish

So the situation is exactly like how things are for me with cars -- I'm stuck with my old pieces of junk bcos I can't afford any of the new stuff...

Badhobz 11-28-2025 12:38 PM

the lens broke down the bodies are still alive!? what the.....

usually the lens survives the bodies are trashed.

si si, i bought the R7 because all my expensive sigma lenses are APSC lenses. technically i can use them on a full frame body, but then i would have to use crop mode which is worse than the R7 in terms of megapixel and sharpness. Plus i like the 1.6x crop of the apsc so my 100-400mm is 160-640mm. Plenty of reach for shooting forest puppies!

bcrdukes 11-28-2025 12:39 PM

Not sure what kind of camera fetish Traum has. :inoutugh:

Badhobz 11-28-2025 12:56 PM

Yeah two kids. Our Coleman Flat Iron ripped this summer after our final trip. I loved that tent cause it took 2 minutes from bag to full up. Another 5 minutes to stake it.

Been shopping for a new tent for awhile this is perfect as it reviews very well, it came down to Big Agnes Big House 6, NorthFace Wawona 6, and the Marmot Halo.

Wife wanted a vestibule for our new tent, we call it a patio. Was originally going to get the Big Agnes as thelasthunt has it 25% off + 15% off on top. Then I found the NorthFace for a little more and it comes with a HUGE vestibule, downside is it's reviewed to be challenging to setup. Then we found the Marmot, which checks our boxes.

Badhobz 11-28-2025 02:14 PM

this makes no sense, image-conscious women dont camp. if you guys like camping and outdoorsy shit, why wouldn't she drive a lesbian Subaru? You should get her a lesbian endorsed Subaru!!!

spoon.ek9 11-28-2025 03:04 PM

All I've bought so far is a pair of water proof pants from Columbia lol. It went from $80 to $60 SeemsGood

Tapioca 11-28-2025 03:15 PM

There's some decent deals on TCL (which seems to be the value brand of choice these days) TVs. I picked up a new 65" for my setup in the basement this week for a big 6 coming up in sports (Olympics, World Cup, etc).

Might be worth looking at micro four thirds cameras if you want to get back in without paying a fortune. Used Olympus and Panasonic cameras and lenses are very affordable compared to full frame and can get you back into shooting without breaking the bank.

Alternatively, you can brows Kerridale Camera's used page - they're doing running an extra 15% off their used equipment for Black Friday:

Gumby 11-28-2025 04:34 PM

I got a Fitcamx dashcam (front & rear) for $280. Yes, I know there are better dashcams with more features out there, but I really liked the OEM look of this one and didn't cost too much.
