I am not too worried about my mom bcos I think she stays active enough from chasing after the grandkids as well as gardening. It is my old man that I am a lot more worried about, as he has grown increasingly sedatary and reclusive over time.
The irony is -- when he actually goes out -- for the the few things he still enjoys, he really enjoys the outing and activities and it shows. Unfortunately, it also seems like he doesn't realize how much more pleasant and healthy that makes him, and he almost never actively pursue those activities, even at our urging. Quote:

There is always something "important" that needs to be done.
She used to be an avid hiker, and back in the day, we used to hike at least every other week. So she is not inherently opposed to going out for physical activities and such.
She is not oblivious to the fact that she needs to have a much better work-life balance, but despite that, she continues to to sink massive amounts of time into work. I question the necessity of that, but I can't deny the mountain pile of work that is always waiting to be done. And when she is not working, it is probably bcos she is already physically or mentally tapped out, and that makes it difficult to drag her out to do physical things that will keep her active.
Never marry a self-employed small business owner. It sucks.

Sounds like an opportunity to grow her business. I know someone who can help with that.

So it has been almost 3 weeks (I think?) since I started jogging / walking. I dunno if I can actually call it jogging since I have generally only been able to jog at least twice a week for some 10 - 15 min each time before I'm tired out. IMO it really isn't that much running.
Unsurprisingly, improvements have been slow and minor, but I believe they are there. With the most recent run (yesterday) for example, my legs still felt spent after the run, and my lungs still felt like they were burning up. But the lung burning didn't feel as intense as it did 2 - 3 weeks ago when I first started, and I didn't actually lose the fine motor control to operate my gas / brake / clutch when I went to pick up le wifey after the run. So the gains were noticeable, even if they are small.
Objectively, I gave into my curiousity and bought a new / near new fitness tracker off FBM for cheap. Because it was a fairly basic model, it was only showing me a bunch of fairly standard stats. Aside from satisfying my own curiosity on what my vitals are like at various times, I am not entirely sure how I can maximize the health benefits from the stats I've been provided with. The single biggest health improvement measure that I am using the fitness tracker for right now is -- it tells me the number of steps I have taken each day in near-real time. I've generally been able to walk 7k+ steps each day, so I guess that is an acceptable amount of activity.
I think my pace (of jogging) has almost improved slightly, with it gradually dropping from a low 7.x min per km / low 8.x kph down to a high 6.x min per km / almost 10 kph. Like I said, the improvements are pretty small, and I continue to think the pace is embarassingly slow. But I know I am not doing this for bragging rights. I just want to be a more healthy version of myself while also aging slower LOL~

definitely sounds like you're on the right path. now combine your steps with some food control and weight lifting and you'll really see some results rather quickly.
