is it like the easy way of resisting eating a meal vs ppl trying to use restraint and diet? or does it somehow compensate for a meal's worth?

Many people report their desire to eat is decreased, some even report their desire to drink decreases too. However, the drug doesn't work for everyone and there are indeed side effects. Many find they cannot tolerate the drug (mainly GI issues/reactions). I literally talked to a patient today who said she tried it once and never again lol.
Everyone wants the magic pill to solve their problems (weight loss or other). But more often than not, putting in the actual work will get you better results. People are just too lazy to try.

You could just do keto and that would easily reduce to OMAD or 2 meals a day. Eating enough protein, (good) fats, and fiber should hit the mark for satiety.
And no, you don't have to drink buttered coffee, that's disgusting.
No magic pills, just steaks 24/7.

I'm starting to turn into a supplement skeptic. Whenever you walk into costco you are bombarded with rows of supplements. Multivitamins? Omega3? Collagen? B100? etc etc. I know they are not as regulated as medicine in Canada so they can either use shit ingredients or worse with exaggerated health claims.
I feel like unless you did a blood test and have a confirmed deficiency you'll get all the nutrients you need from regular meals unless you eat nothing but mcdonalds.

No magic pills, just steaks 24/7. | I wouldn't recommend keto diet to anyone. Short term gains, wildly unsustainable diet choices and if your cholesterol was bad to begin with, this isn't a wise choice. The people I've talked to who have tried this all rebound and gain the weight back soon after giving up.

had a coworker do keto to the point it was like a chemistry experiment, had 'keto strips' or something to test her blood. too difficult to sustain, i think watching carbs as much as possible, watch the portions (i try not to 'finish' every meal to not waste) and skip breakfast so i'm sort of doing a 16/8 fast and just drink coffee in the morning is about as best i can realistically do.

I did intermittent fasting for awhile too and that has it's limits as well.
I'm back to doing a loose macro and have already dropped about 2lbs over the past 4-5 days. A lot of that is probably just clearing my gut but I'm happy lol. No gym lately, been busy and lazy about it but still walking 10-19k steps a day to burn calories.
Most importantly, I feel better about myself. I was getting so damn bloated and poofy after all the holiday eating as well as daily eating whatever I felt like over the past 2-3 months. It's awful how easy it is to pack on the pounds.

Is this like a vape vs cig case? Both bad, one is slightly less bad?
imo keto is plausible if you commit to a long term lifestyle change. Unsustainable diet choice is more a willpower issue imo - it's very fucking repetitive. If you don't like eating broccoli + chicken breast every day as the BB meal plan, keto gives you a bit more flexibility, but everything does rely on MEATS, EGGS, AVOCADOS, and it gets pretty boring. And I really like eating fruits and you don't get that.
I lost 40lbs in 3 months, from 200-160. Stopped cause egg shortage due to COVID.. and I be eating 9 eggs a day lol. It's been proven that the Canadian Food Pyramid was lobbied by the wheat industry to push an eggs = bad (cholesterol) narrative. Further to this point, how the hell are eggs in everything in Japan if yOu cAnT eAt mOrE tHaN tWo eGGs.
The problem is people thinking that keto will keep the weight off forever, which obviously isn't the case. Keto is a good way to be in a caloric deficit - a defined way to meal plan and sort the madness. There's plenty of people doing keto for extended periods of time r/ketolife r/ketogains and there's definitely a lot of success stories for pre diabetic people etc.
I have also rebounded - but it took 5 years to rebound to 200lbs. But the problem isn't keto. The problem is I've sat at home in my room for two weeks straight and I don't do anything but sit at my computer and work or smoke weed play video games and eat meals for 3 ppl lol.
Keto isn't the problem of people's failures. It's people. Like me. I'm a fat fuck.
Outside of weight loss gains, the mental clarity I got from doing keto was great. People often talked about how when you eat carbs/after lunch going back to work, you feel so tired and cloudy. None of that. I eat the portion I made for myself. It makes me full. If it doesn't make me full, I have a pre-portioned container of almonds, but usually you get to a point where what you make will be enough for that meal. Quote:

Back when I did it, it wasn't as widely known as it is today. There were no easily available keto snacks that you could buy for a "cheat" day, you had to make your own or pay a stupid price for a baked one, both of which you go to a specialty shop for it.
I was eating around 1700 calories, 35% protein, 62% fat, 3% carbs, for 3 months, while also doing 5x5 Stronglifts.. it was a struggle to push through a heavy lift day sometimes (squat + bench + row / Squat + OHP + DL) and I would fail my set quite often. Tho I considered struggling/bad form with the rep as a zero count, so maybe I make it harder for myself.

You contradicted yourself when you said keto can be long term but also that you cannot rely on it forever. Someone of your height and weight taking in only 1700 calories per day is extreme and absolutely would not be sustainable long term. I also question how accurate your calculations are if you were indeed only eating that amount because with the high calorie, high fat foods in your example, you'd be eating like a pigeon.
You've seen me in person, lowest I ever went was 1850 calories and that was already a struggle. You being taller and heavier than me taking in 150 less calories is insane imo. It doesn't surprise me at all you were struggling in the gym. I was struggling too with what I was intaking.
You mentioned lifestyle change which is true but if you ask me, it has to be in the form of something you can maintain. Otherwise it'll just be short term gains and then you'll be back on the road to plumping up (which is very human, we all do).
PS: it's not that you can't eat more than 2 eggs per day, it simply recommended you don't |

Did my first pull ups yesterday after not having done any in 4 weeks (since the Christmas mood and schedule started). The first 2 pulls felt fantastic, and I actually miss the feeling of doing it. By the 5th pull, I knew I was in trouble, and I ended up failing during my 7th one LOL~
Before Christmas, I was generally able to do 10 - 12 pulls, depending on how I was feeling that day. And now, my lats are killing me. (The area of my pecs just next to my armpits are also really sore too, but that's from another exercise.)
I need RS to muscle shame me so that I wouldn't be such a pile of muscle failure LOL~

Pull ups are an exercise you work towards. If you've never done them before, it's tough to get 1-3. I think that's normal. I'd recommend beginner level calisthenics until you've strengthened your back muscles before aiming for 4-8.

i'm an armchair gym bro.. has the experience but lack the motivation lol. Just need to get hit by a car again
try doing declines instead of pull ups. So grab a bench to climb and stand on, grab the handle bars, and try to control the movement of descent. Do that for few weeks and then you'll be able to do a pull up. I believe it helps activate and strengthen the smaller stability muscles in your back - at least thats what I trained with my physio.

Pull ups are one of my favorite exercises, and easily one of the most transferable to your daily life. I highly recommend weighted pull ups if you're looking to increase your total numbers, on any pull up always ensure you concentrate on the eccentric portion of the pull up (going down slowly) you'll break the muscle down nicely and increase your strength immensely.
I average around 20 pull ups give or take, but can do 25 on a good rested day.

Are you guys using those pullup bars you attach to the door frame? I'm wary I might put too much load on the wall lol

Yeah I've never trusted those things. Seen too many clips of people either destroying the door frame or just face planting.
