There are some ranked servers out there, but they are almost always full, and laggy as fuck. EA really messed up when it comes to the ranking system.

The only real laggy ranked servers out there are the Art of War Central ones (there's quite a bit of them..which is probably the reason for the lag), the other ones are just fine if you have a good ping.

Other reasons for lag is if the server has BattleRecorder on and there's people saving the info.

Need some help from you guys. I know nothing about computers but i tested the game, got hooked heh and got a free copy with my ea employee points.

I have a AMD 1.4 and i'm thinking about buying 2 sticks of 512 Samsung PC 2700 ram and a Sapphire 9600 pro. Will this work? b/c i dont play PC games and i dont want to buy a new system.

I tried installing with nvdia mx 400 and 256 ram but it wouldn't work.

completely different. bfv was sort of an expansion to bf1942, it's the same game with some added maps. bf2 is comepletely new game, leaps and bounds ahead of bf1942/bfv

All of them are unlocked in ranked and unranked servers. This is nuts, I hope EA doesn't ban me because they think I'm cheating or something.

When I got lance Corporal I logged out then logged back in and this screen came up with all the weapons and you have to choose one.

Try using ASE with that little patch I posted, but the crashing problem is a bigger problem...

If you haven't already, I'd read the guide on www.tweakguides.com to see if that helps. This game needs a lot of patching.

I find BF2 better because of the commander system. It promotes teamplay more. The graphics seem to look better too. They paid attention to more details in this game than in the previous BF's (not that it's simulator accurate, but it's more accurate than the previous BF's). The down side is that it needs more patching (still) and a couple of minor things need to be tweaked.

Certain things in PoE feels overpowered at times. It might be accurate, but it feels like everyone is on his / her own venture in their super jet or tank. It's still a lot of fun though. The vehicles are a lot of fun and the attention to detail is good.

BFV was good. Music fits in well and the Huey's are fun to fly. I like the overall environment in that game. I actually like this game better than PoE.

BFV and BF2 are both good games. I feel that BF2 has taken to a new level though. That's my take on it. :)


Can't wait to try BG42 mod and perhaps a StarWars mod (heck if this comes out, it might beat Battlefront 2)?

I'm using Catalyst 5.6. I read that turning off hyperthreading works but it didn't for me. It sucks cause it crashes after a few minutes of gameplay, sometimes less, EVERY time I join a server.

A Question:

Why does the Chinese J-10 fighter always stalls in mid air if climb vertically?

I was going after enemy F-35 and once they couldn't shake me they climb straight up and when I follow my J-10 basically freezes in mid air and then I die for hanging outside the battle field for more than 10 sec.

Is this a bug or is this intentional so that the US fighters will maintain a superiority?

my viewing distance isnt far enough to utilize missles. i have about like 3 seconds to lockon and fire when i see them.. and at 3 seconds they are about 10 feet away from me and the missles always miss. i always have to do like 10 runs and gun them down with my machine gun.

but fighting other jets.fuckin awsome.. i love my joystick

i dont get how the co pilot of a jet .. the bomb things work

they laser it.. and.. they also fire it? or does the pilot fire?

i like the helicopters co pilot missle. just aim.. shoot and the missle goes where u aimed it

Yea, it's hard to hit helicopters... What I usually do is put the brakes on full then try to get a lock while firing the guns. Then quickly jump on the afterburners once I shoot pass it.

The co-pilot fires the LGB. Just aim it like the TV guided missles. Just right click, put your crosshair on the "target circle", then it will say "lock", then just click away and watch them blow up.

Watch out though, there's a bug. If you miss the target by a long shot, it will heat seek to a friendly.

damn i shoulda choose the unlock weapon for medic instead i unlock the sniper weapon.

the sniper is ok since you can shoot through the canopy. one time i snuck into the carrier and went up the tower. saw a player got into the jet and just when he lifted off i kill him and the jet went overboard hahaha

I was playing the Gulf of Omen map and I was perched up on top of one of the buildings. The guy was in a jeep firing his gun and I sniped that guy right in the head and with no gun support our Special forces guy just ran in, c4'ed the thing and blew the driver up.

I used to get CTD but after I patched it with 1.02 it hasn't happened. Does anyone here still play on the Hardcoreware server?

Also, does anyone else find it much harder to fly the helo's in bf2 than in bfv? They feel like flying boats. I can't get them to rotate quick enough. Never had this problem in bfv, the huey's were way easy to fly, even the mi8's are better than the helos in bf2. Any tips on flying the helos?

Yea the Heuy is easier to fly. Yaw is much slower in BF2. What I do instead is use the other controls to help turn the chopper around like an airplane.

What you do is, yaw as usual, then simulatenously roll and pull up to help rotate.

To tell you the truth, I like the default weapons better (with exception of the shotgun). I'm not sure if there is any performance accuracy with respect to the models.

I just got the game and im running on geforce4 ti-4200. Any idea on how i can change the settings or anything so I can run the game? Otherwise I gota go get myself a card... anything u guys recommend?
I think that's the BF2 Shader mod. I don't think it's completed yet, but you really need a decent video card to enjoy this game. That card was good, lasted me a good while.

I would get the 6600GT for starters. Both my friends' 6600GT seems to work fine with this game, but don't expect all full blown graphics with 4x AA/AF.

And the G3? No grenade launcher though.

i dont think shots fall. gravity only affects like.. the tanks cannon.. those type of weapons
cuz i can clearly see the tracers on the jet's machinegun and the helicopters mini gun go straight.. for a long long.. for as far as i can see.

but shots DO take time to reach the target. so its not like CS where as long as the crosshair is on the guy it'll hit. u have to aim ahead of he's moving

this is probably a really stupid question, but i think i unlocked some guns when i got promoted a week ago (since i was using the new guns during that game), but when i play now, I don't have any of the unlockable guns.

I think the ping depends on the server too. I always get under 100 ms. It's usually around 30-50, but I'm on Shaw High Speed. :)

yeah i have my basic "class" badges.. all classes

basic first aid, basic transport, basic supply, basic command, basic knife, basic pistol, 3 gold stars, silver star, 2 bronze stars..
i have.. my airborne ribbon, command ribbon, some.. combat ribbon, some other combat ribbon.. oh yeah basic helicopter, and basic armor.. some other ones i think

so hard trying to get the basic demolitions. i always die before anything gets blown up.

and the 1:4 kill:death ratio for the purple heart doesnt work. i got 1:4 and 5:20.. both times i didnt get a purple heart.

i unlocked the medic weapon, bad choice, i did it because i play medic a lot.. but the new weapon isnt that great, the scope is nice.. that's about it... i should unlocked the assault class.. since i never use the grenade launcher and always miss by a mile anyways, i figure a more accurate stronger rifle would be a good choice... oh well next rank.

you know im starting to think the chinese and MEC are better than americans, their standard guns are stronger, and always have fully auto capabilities.. none of this 3 round burst crap.

the americans have the JSF, miniguns on the helicopters, and bigass strong tanks, that's about it.

brown guys have better shotguns, full autoshit, and speak funny stuff.

chinese have fully auto, semi auto sniper rifle..etc.

i guess americans have better vehicles generally.. oh yeah teh chiense and MEC have fully auto, but the accuracy usualy sucks.

but then accuracy doesnt matter when the guy is liek 10 feet away. if he's farther just go single shot. the AK is so much better than an M16.



anyways.. what weapons have you guys unlocked, and how have they performed?

ASE = All-Seeing Eye. It's supported by Yahoo. It's basically a very good desktop server browser with a lot of filters and custom favorites list.

It includes a buddy list for you to track your buddies when they're playing. All you have to do is double click on the server that you want and it'll automatically launch the game and join that server. It'll even keep trying if the server is full. If you see a buddy online, just click on their name and the server that they're in will pop up and you just double click.

Best thing about it, you can keep trying it for 7 days. ;)

ok so ive played around with the G3 and the leenfield (medic rifle)..

i've got to say they're both upgrades.

first the medic rifle has a scope, and it is very accurate if you put it on single shot. basically a sniper rifle, but it takes a few shots to kill the guy. it's got full auto so if youre american, now you can go full auto. it's the same strength as the m16. but.. SCOPE.. AUTO..

the G3. ok no grenade launcher, boohoo. whatever. it's stronger and more accurate. you can basically snipe with it, except it has no scope, good luck with the iron sights. yeah it's strong and accurate. BUT.. the mags only hold 20 rounds. and u only hold like 4 mags. you always run out of bullets at the most inconvienient time. but otherwise, it's good

i plan to unlock the machine gun next.

Dude, I'm running the same video card (256-Bit) with 2.5 P4 and 512 MB RAM, and I'm getting at least 40-50 fps in 1024 x resolution.

I use medium to low settings. No AA/AF. There's got to be something wrong with your comp. Go to www.tweakguides.com and look for the guide for BF2. :)

People with performance issues, delete everything in mydocuments/battlefield 2/mods/bf2/cache

Backup first if you want. I got a 10-20 fps jump from doing that. The next time you load the map it will redo the shading thing so it will take a bit longer.

You just change the names of the video files in the game's folder. You can't delete them though, or otherwise Punkbuster will bust your punk ass. :p

I find this a lot faster, especially if you use ASE. You can get rid of that EA intro and crap like that too.

Any tips on aiming with zoom on guns with iron sights and not the red dot? is your target supposed to be on the top edge of the line or...? I only used Spec Ops class now and just unlocked the G36C, miss the red dot but like the power.

I had this same problem it would take like 1-2min just to login WAY TOOO LONG, should take max 5seconds. The problem got fixed after I updated to the newest patch, so you should give that a try

agreed, plus those three seem to me the maps which encourage the most squad play since they have relatively less vehicles, so guys seem to stay together. do you guys play at 24/7 small map servers? I know there's a couple and thats usually where I go

Yea, infantry maps are cool. It's really nice to see players work in squads.

I don't usually play on 24/7 servers though, I get tired of them after a while. I usually go on servers with 2-3 rounds so I won't waste time changing/loading maps.

how do I use unlocked guns?
in option or settting, whatever it is, BFHQ? it shows I have unlocked guns but in game, I dont get them..?

Where you pick kits, theres a little icon on the top right hand corner of every cell. Its on the first scene when you spawn and you can pick your spawnpoint.

If you haven't picked out the unlocked weapon of your choice, you do it in BFHQ. Their server lags, so expect some delays.

I think it's like a subscribed version of the game where they arrange battles and squads that you stick with throughout the whole campaigne. A scheduled number of hours for every week, etc. with some sort of chain of command.

Basically you're paying for a real organized set of games and calling it a campaigne, I think.

hahaha total of around 210 hrs so far.

i play on 64 player server. that mashtuir city map is insane. every corner always an enemy.

Argh... I still have about 3000 points to go. I'm thinking of getting the G3 next. Either that, or the M95, but that I tried it a few times, it didn't feel very accurate.

sharqi for me is helicopters all the way.

mashtuur city, im always USA sniper on that center top building. hah

the only 3 things which have more kills than deaths for me is armoured/helicopter/sniper

armoured has the most. its like 200 kills more than deaths.
helicopter is like. 100 kills more?
sniper is like 70/30 something like that.

i think my second weapon might be the PKM... or the anti tank or engineer. i find that i use engineer a lot, especially since i fly a lot.

haha i usually up on the crane at the middle flag on mashtuur city.

i get double the kills using the svd or m24 than m95. i only use m95 when i near a helipad or at the carrier killing the pilots lol.
