I was actually expecting the game to be good but not a big leap from Vietnam but after playing the Demo, HOLY CRAP that game is awesome.

If the Demo is that good, now I really can't wait till the full game comes out, this game is a serious contender (and maybe even winner) of a lot of PC game of the year awards or even just plain old game of the year ...

Tried the Demo tonight, I think it's going to be a great game. The game ran pretty smooth and I'm using a 2 year old video card. 9600 Radeon Pro, but my ram is good 2 gigs dual channel and a P4 3.0g.

Just played the demo. Great game, great fun. However, the demo only sets the video settings to medium (I have a 6800GT 256mb) so I guess to play it at full quality I would need something SLI?

also the US Marine infantry weapons feels like BB guns. US infantry weapons in Desert Combat feel weak too, but only in multiplayer when lag drops your accuracy. However, the demo, in single player mode (no lag) I can empty a whole clip of MP5 or even M4 rounds at an enemy at medium range and still doesn't knock him off (yes I tried prone, and burst shots) Even with M239 SAW it would take a while to kill anyone. I guess its an tatic to increase the "fun" factor by making ppl live longer?

System Spec:

Athlon XP 2100 at 2.2ghz (200x11)
1GB (512mb DDR400 x 2 Dual Channel)
6800GT 256mb AGP (no over clock)

3DMark 03 Score: 10,800

Sigh, Maybe its time to try overclocking the video card.:(

Definitely time to upgrade your CPU. Your video card will do very well in older games, but you'll find that you'll need to back it up with something better for newer games.

3dMark isn't a great thing to go by for determining gaming performance, since it ONLY tests the video card really.

just finished playing it with 2 friends... all i can say is wow wow wow... i thought it was fun solo, man once u get into squads and use voice chat.... so much fun.

My squad was ripping shit up, taking over flags here and there, mowing down some US troops. And then of course my buddy running us over with viechles like 5x... then getting booted from the server HAHA quasi u suck!

I've been MS Sidewinder Force Feedback (II or Pro or something? Can't remember.) ever since Vietnam. It makes flying a lot smoother and easier. (Notice how you can't press more than 2 or 3 keys at a time?) Now you can maneuver, incrementally adjust the throttle, and shoot at the same time. Having flare, map, and such buttons map to the stick helps. :)

i got it, it looks like one of those wrap around headphones that goes behind the head, and the mic comes out from the left. not bad i guess, theres 2 jacks, headphones are stereo im assuming cause the jack has 2 bands. i gave it to my cuz cause i dont have any free ports to plug it in to my o/b sound.
i have a usb headset anyways.

i like being the medic, but it sucks not beable to have any anti tank crap. when i base D im ususally anti tank class or engineer for land mines.

i think they need to make the assualt class a bit better, know ever picks them, i tried the nady launcher with ok success, hard to get use to the range

Since everyone's riffle are about as effective as BB guns ( ok, ok, the anti-tank & Special Ops shoot water pistols) It makes sense to pick a engineer or anti-tank so you can also perform some other tasks.;)

So far I'm leaning on the assault and sniper class.

Assault if I want to join in on the action and sniper if I want to keep my distance/defend. I drop 2 mines around the flag and defend from up top so if I die chances are people will rush the flag blowing themselves up :lol

the entire geforce4 ti series is not supported by BF2. there is a shader mod available to dl that will allow you to play it, but i heard that the games looks like crap.

im in the same boat as you, looks like i will be upgrading to a 6600gt or something.

My friend's using 6600GT with I think P4 3.2 and 1 Gig RAM. He can run in full detail at 1024 resolution with pretty decent framerates. :D

ya usually i like to take over flags so if im going solo i go assualt or anti tank.

Base defense = eng. or anti tank

and when im in a group with friends im the medic. I always get top score when im medic, my friends die allot :)

most fun ive had is when i played with my 2 buds. driving around in the jeep takeing over flags and raiding there flags, we had a good mix. 2 anti tanks and then me being a medic.

Yea, I love the commander system with artillery support, supplies drop, and UAV.

In the past, it's pissing annoying that either 1) no one spots for your artillery, 2) no one's on the artillery when you spot. Though I admit there were a few times when it actually worked, then again the artillery would be a little too accurate.

Love the working HUD too. The locking and missle behavior is a lot better now (not that it would satisfy most sim players, but it's a really good compromise).

I pre-ordered mine already. :D Will there be an RS server? :D

Woops, miss that part.

Just press "enter" for the kit screen, then click on the "squad" tab. You'll see a spot for commander and squads for you to join. Click "apply" for the commander's spot. If it's not taken, it'll ask you if you want to be the commander later. If you get the position, just press "cap lock" to bring up the menu for placing orders.

[edit] I have another question. When you're near the enemy base and the voice tells you that you can destroy this and that to cripple the enemie's communications...what do you use to destroy it? Grenades don't work and the launcher that comes with the assault kit doesn't work either. Will I need to use a missle from the anti-tank?

I cancelled my CD-ROM pre-order and tried to buy the DVD one, but they said the DVD ones are out, so I can't pre-order them. They're suppose to arrive on 23rd.

the full version runs so much better than the demo, i think they shouldve never released that demo at all. havent had a chance to play for too long though, calculus midterm tomorrow:(

The full version has many bugs, including kicking you out of the data server after each game (so you have to sign in again, and find the server you played again, and wait for the map loading again, what a PITA!!!)

also the server search function sucks majorly. It does not tell you when the server serach and refershing is finished. And it takes forever to scroll through all servers because the scroll function only responds 5 seconds after you press it.

And the servers also has major lag. I played on a local server (with between 50-64 players with 40 ping and it felt more like 400.

The enemy AI in the single player is too good. I don't know how in the world can an enemy in the Flanker with no radar, can locate and kill me while I was inside a building away from the flag commending my own troop, or was the pilot was the enemy commender? who was flying while commending the satelite, artilitary and stuff? something only computer could do eh?

So I just point the nose where I want, and do air drops, UAV, etc. Then pull back, because pointing to the ground means you are accelerating ;)

I have a 9600 np and running it at low settings. I might go pick up a sapphire 9800 pro for $176 at ncix. I know the 6600 is newer and better but from what I read the difference isn't that big.

Isn't the Sapphire one only 128-Bit?

I have the ATI 9800 Pro (256-Bit) and I run on mostly medium and low details. (I have an old CPU and MoBo.) I get decent fps in the demo. AA/AF off. My CPU, Mobo, and RAM (512MB) are slowing me down.

If you are buying a new video card, go straight to 6600GT. You can overclock it to 6800 (none GT) performance.

Is this the retail dvd/cd version or a pirated copy?

I find that sometimes my game just freezes on me during the online server menu. I can still hear the music and my mouse can still move around but when I click nothing responds.

Everything loads up fine but once I start playing anywhere from 10seconds to 2min into the game I get this error. I have updated drivers, even used driver cleaner and started from scratch by reinstalling the game. BTW the demo runs fine no problems

You'll be able to run it no problem. You might neeed to upgrade the ram to 1gb but your video card is pretty good so that might balance it out.

I thought the game is a LOT better than BF1942 and BFV. They refined a lot of things, adding squad/commander system, which I liked because it promotes teamplay. Still, I see like 20 ppl on a team that are unassigned at times.

Right now I think it's REALLY buggy though. It could use some improvements. I hope ASE updates soon too, 'cause the in-game browser sux.

I went up a resolution and put everything up from low to med (with exception to lighting and shadows) and I have better framerates now. Apparently the game doesnt save settings properly so you end up running a hybrid of old and new settings.

KILLER! Now I don't feel that bad blowing my money on a 6600 because I get some decent performance now.

My difference was probably more drastic because I tried this game with a few graphic cards so I probably had a real mess of saved settings.

i got to lance corp. now, i unlocked the medic weapon since with i play with my friends/squads im usually the medic.

Its allot better imo then the other guns, it has a scope so you can snipe with it. Its very un-accurate if u hold down the tripper, i put it on single shot when i use it, and i seem to do allot better with it then the basic gun.

My next unlock is probably going to be the eng. or maybe support.

I'm running it at the 1024 resolution with medium settings on everything except shadow and lighting and it's pretty smooth. Before it was really choppy and laggy at times but after I upgraded my ram from 512mb to 1.25gb it really really helped
