most discount brokerage *i assume thats what your doing* have their forms usually online but they always require signatures and be sent in/blank void cheque to attach that account with your banking account. So for the registeration, no. As for the transaction, everything will be done online, cuz you are signing up for an online-discount brokerage.

Other then that your good to go. :)

Actually you will be following step by step on the online register form, afterward print it out & mail back to ___ Bank Invest department. Usually will take 5 days to processing.

All the trading can be do it online or by phone (commission charge) anywhere with internet connection (transfer money, buy/sell stock & funds)

sells always gives opps.

US economy is as BAD as ppl think. Full information jst isn't leaked out. US credit crunch is estimated @ 1 TRILLION dollars lost. Note: that doesn't even begin to account for rest of the worlds investment portfoilios. On top of that, if the credit crunch tanks, you'll see the us dollar go to shiet even more, and different countries forex would lose billions.

snowball effect but give companies credit, they fixing it as slowly as easy as they can.

OUCH~ Down 51% today!

I would avoid all pennies stock because it can go up and down so much in one day.
If you have few thousands you can risk, then do it. You might be able to make a quick double in couple days.
But I wouldn't want to risk $50K on pennies stocks.

I rather you bring your money to casino and play Baccarat. At least is 50/50 chance (excluding 5% commission).

I think if you got stock-tips. It's good and all but please do your own DD.

as for:
CMX, i have a good position on it. imho, i don't see it shooting up, the news (which i don't think the guy that took the tip can read) is decent, but for any longs. if the the other holes are jst as well, then your lookin good.

First couple of holes, above avg, jst not a gonna go crazy. imho.

avg @ 0.22

now for the bias part:

I HOPE IT SHOOTS TO THE MOON! HUGE Positionin this stock.

I did my own dd and the news looks good. what are u ranting about... i probably know how to read assay results better than you. They only released 2 holes of 12 , and their Far east Zone which has Drilled 3 different holes contain Palladium, platinum and Nickle Credits. Those results havent even been released yet. The stock closed at .35 cents and a market cap of only 24 million! The results are AMAZing for what this stock is trading at. Obviously its nothing like SPECTACULAR that ill throw my house into is or play it like a bluechip stock. Im just saying for its current stock value.. it should be trading WAY HIGHER.

as i said before supa.azn.

Watch cmx, carefully. When they released the two holes, what you didn't know, (i presume) was a 3rd hole was suppose to be released @ the same time. That wasn't, that jst gives it some speculation. I can see with speculation on the remaining 11 holes that this will jump up to 1dollar-ish.

I however, put this stock @ 50cents at the moment.

edit: even then, i stand to make 100+% return. :)

Good for you~ but next thing you know, people will sell on the news.

Pennies stocks are not for me. It's more like gambling than investment. I wouldn't touch any stocks that is worth less than $20/share and didn't have a positive earning.

Just be careful. I rather you open a margin account and trades stocks from it. The risk is much less than your penny stocks.

If you can take big swing up/down, then penny stocks are suitable for you.

I just can't take that 15-50% swing up/down everyday, too much for me. So I just buy big cap stocks.

I purchased Apple at $185 with my margin account couple days ago. I am looking for a quick 10% before their MacWorld conference in January 15, 2008.

Anyone researched on any big cap stocks on Dow/Nasdaq? Let me know.
I am looking for stocks that is not Tech/Oil related.
Most of my stocks are either Technology or Oil.

I am looking into Citibank (C) ...

Scoobysnax

Look into Solar. That sector is still very hot, even though the P/E is kinda crazy for some of the big names like FSLR and SPWR. I just made a killing on CSIQ and LDK the last few weeks :). Also shipping is another sector I invested in. DRYS and DSX are both oversold imo. I would stay away from financial stocks until rates stabilizes.

lululemon MIGHT have a chance to dip down below $40. I don't think they are worth $40 since their P/E ratio is so high.

I don't really LuLuLemon (retailer) because it's way too expensive. I think they are worth $25 similar to American Eagles (AEO).

Hey Scoobysnax:

I would recommend that you sell Apple before the MacWorld Conference. According to what happened last few years, Apple usually go down after the MacWorld (when Apple release new products).

I got in $185 two weeks ago. I am going to sell before the MacWorld (due to using my margin account, couldn't take 10% hit in case selloff after earning). But I expected it will go up to around $205-210 before MacWorld.

Everyone knows Apple will beat the earning by a large margin, but it will sell off after earning.

Just don't hold through the earning. But if you buy Apple for long term investment, don't worry about it. Apple looks good throughout 2008.

I am looking into VISA IPO right now. It's coming in January 2008.

still interested in finding ppl who'd wanna research shit and make some money since it'll be a prime time to make some key buys

thing is even if you did DD on a certain company and you see it going to have a good upside.

You'd still feel the pain of losing either all your gains and some of your investment or your investment in general. a lot of people aren't serious trader, buy and keep for a while. thats why they feel the pain more then day traders.

that being said: most day trader i know usually have huge position on 1-5 stocks they feel it's going big and rarely do they sell off all to cut loses.

Taking a look at APPL 6 month chart, do you guys think now is a relatively good time to buy despite the overall market conditions?

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=AAPL&t=6m&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=

Share prices are going to go so low that investors will have to buy because the share prices are going to be huge bargains. Then the markets will shoot back up.

Does anyone think that? when this happens is anyones guess. Just a thought.

Good thing I took my loss at $176 on Apple. If not, I am toast since I am using my margin account as well!!

But I would say, but Apple in March or something like that. Stocks may rebound in the second half of the year.

I don't think Apple will have the same explosive earning anymore, since I don't even like their new ipod or Macbook Air. . .

I'm staying away for now. It's projected that if their is a recession in the US then Apple's earnings are going to go down. Therefore their share prices will likely fall as well.

U bet. I think im gonna take monday off to trade lol.

I'm still choked about INFN. It's like I saw the potential, I put the order in last night, then it blew by me faster than a kid doing a gas run at the Chevron down my road on a tuesday evening. I would have made around $600 today (which is a pretty fun day for me).

Credential direct (my online broker) doesn't do any sales after hours. What a piss off. They also suck cuz they round share prices up to 2 decimal places. Hello penny stocks @ .0045 get rounded to .005 which only shows the 11% gain but not the price so you have to whip out your calculatrice everytime you are basking in sub penny territory (which for me is constantly).

The question earlier in this thread was what brokerages are people using, but the real question is what are the BEST brokerages? I heard e-trade sucks and they take forever to fill orders, I also heard TD isnt the greatest but this is just what I hear.

wtf I just checked out questtrade its only $10/ per trade (unlmd shares), I pay $20. bye bye CD.

yah i wonder about that too, everyone seems to be posting their profits from penny stocks but i wonder about their overall portfolio and their net gains

To me it doesn't seem like a good time to invest in gold right now since it hit a record high a couple of days ago

in regards to small/mid caps... well, since most of them are holds (for me anyhow)...there isn't much to talk about, about them.

the nature of volatility in penny stocks make it more of a topic to talk about for those trading...which is why it's probably talked about more. ppl get excited about catching runs(obviously you miss and lose money sometimes too..but i doubt you'll hear many of those stories :p)...and posting the tickers to for anybody else interested.

Damn mine took a beating today. Gonna dump tclt tomorrow.

Look at these tips I found on a website I visit.. (always good to read these every now and then to keep your head straight!)

1. Forget the news, remember the chart. You're not smart enough to know how news will affect price. The chart already knows the news is coming.

2. Buy the first pullback from a new high. Sell the first pullback from a new low. There's always a crowd that missed the first boat.

3. Buy at support, sell at resistance. Everyone sees the same thing and they're all just waiting to jump in the pool.

4. Short rallies not selloffs. When markets drop, shorts finally turn a profit and get ready to cover.

5. Don't buy up into a major moving average or sell down into one. See #3.

6. Don't chase momentum if you can't find the exit. Assume the market will reverse the minute you get in. If it's a long way to the door, you're in big trouble.

7. Exhaustion gaps get filled. Breakaway and continuation gaps don't. The old traders' wisdom is a lie. Trade in the direction of gap support whenever you can.

8. Trends test the point of last support/resistance. Enter here even if it hurts.

9. Trade with the TICK not against it. Don't be a hero. Go with the money flow.

10. If you have to look, it isn't there. Forget your college degree and trust your instincts.

11. Sell the second high, buy the second low. After sharp pullbacks, the first test of any high or low always runs into resistance. Look for the break on the third or fourth try.

12. The trend is your friend in the last hour. As volume cranks up at 3:00pm don't expect anyone to change the channel.

13. Avoid the open. They see YOU coming sucker

14. 1-2-3-Drop-Up. Look for downtrends to reverse after a top, two lower highs and a double bottom.

15. Bulls live above the 200 day, bears live below. Sellers eat up rallies below this key moving average line and buyers to come to the rescue above it.

16. Price has memory. What did price do the last time it hit a certain level? Chances are it will do it again.

17. Big volume kills moves. Climax blow-offs take both buyers and sellers out of the market and lead to sideways action.

18. Trends never turn on a dime. Reversals build slowly. The first sharp dip always finds buyers and the first sharp rise always finds sellers.

19. Bottoms take longer to form than tops. Fear acts more quickly than greed and causes stocks to drop from their own weight.

20. Beat the crowd in and out the door. You have to take their money before they take yours, period.

btw:

GOLD HILL, Nev., Feb 05, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- GoldSpring, Inc. (GSPG) announced today that it has received assay data from American Assay, an independent testing firm, for the four exploratory holes drilled during December 2007 in the Hartford Complex in the Comstock Lode District of Nevada. As part of the Company's Phase 1 Drilling Plan, the four exploratory holes were drilled in a line, demonstrating lateral continuity between the drill holes. The drill results indicate the continuation of the gold and silver mineralization beyond the current boundaries of the Hartford Complex pit on to the Company's adjoining claims further expanding the known ore body. The third party assay results showed ore grades that were 30% greater than the initial grades indicated by the Company's preliminary in-house assays. The first exploratory hole, L07-01, encountered 80 feet of precious metals mineralization from a depth of 70' to 150' grading 0.056 opt gold and 0.668 opt silver. The hole is highlighted by 10' grading 0.117 opt gold and 1.611 opt silver. The second exploratory hole, L07-02, encountered 115' (160' - 275') of precious metals mineralization grading 0.074 opt gold and 0.69 opt silver, highlighted by 15' grading 0.180 opt gold and 0.67 opt silver. The third and fourth exploratory holes, L07-03 and L07-04, encountered gold values highlighted by 30' of 0.036 opt gold and 1.00 opt silver.

The Company's Phase 1 Drilling Program commenced in the Lucerne Pit of the Hartford Complex in December 2007. Jim Golden, GoldSpring's Chief Operating Officer, said, "We are pleased to see the assay results from the outside lab show significantly higher grades of ore than our in-house testing. We are also encouraged by the fact that the mineralization lies close to the surface, creating additional positive economic possibilities."

SIRF looks really interesting with the GPS product growth in phones / apps. Quite cheap given its huge drop today... definitely watching

TSM is great to hold even with the high dividend / yield (5-6%) even for that alone I'd take it, not even mentioning semi conductor + taiwan ftw

Missed CCTC at work today, saw it go from 33 to 43. Thanks for the tip tho! Doesn't the split only count for s/h from Jan / 29 announcement date?

Interactive Intelligence (ININ) dropped huge recently like SIRF, they offer call center services to companies like Capital One. missed earning potentials and dropped on consumer confidence imo.

~600 total amongst all my accounts.

currently 220,000 shares are un-restricted and the remaining 1.1 million are restricted, meaning they can't be traded for a specified amount of time. if this thing spikes tomorrow, you'll see some ppl exit and re-enter, otherwise there'll be very little volume as ppl are gonna wait for the split.

noob question here: stock split ques

say i purchased 5 shares of the stock after the record date, does that mean i don't get the split on the distribution and will still end up with 5 shares?

so do you think it's advantageous to purchase the stock after the distribution or before?

also another question for you experienced traders. I'm newbie and I saw every trade cost around $29 a transaction (relative to the trading company you're with)...

So if I'm planning to play with penny stocks, let's say I buy a 10 shares @ .50 and sell them on couple hours later for $1.00...

I would have made $5 profit, but would have to pay $58 ($29X2) for the TWO transactions I made? So I would have taken a loss at $53...

Is my logic right?

Is it really worth it to be trading it at $29 / transaction then? Or does daily- trading usually outweighs the costs??

Thanks

Thanks you need to change your broker and google is your friend on that.

Basically for transaction costs 29+, you can not afford to play with daily transactions unless you are going at the million level.

lots of brokerages are cheaper than $29 if you trade a lot. Eg. TD waterhouse is $10 if you do a min of 30 trades per 3 month cycle, $7 if you do a min of 150. Questtrade is even cheaper!

I can understand you buying a few shares of a blue chip like google or berkshire, but penny stocks? You shouldn't even do a trade if your total cost of the transaction is less than $100...

No one would only put in like $5 per trade. Trading stocks is not like buying lottery tickets. You need a more than a few dollars of capital at risk.

You really need to be putting in at least a couple of grand PER TRADE to make trading worthwhile. I think a good amount to start off with is 10K.

Anyways, you really should be careful with Penny Stocks and do your own research. Most penny stock markets are completely rigged anyways for the promoters. Not that you can't make money from trading penny stocks, but it is far different than your traditional investments in large caps or mutual funds.

eddyc - like others mentioned, there is no point investing money unless you are starting out with at least 1500-2000 imo.. you will start slow but once you start making money you will start to see some decent results. And yes your logic was right in regards to the loss of x amount of dollars from the $5 investment or whatever haha

The more capital you begin with, the more money you can make/ lose. If you are investing in penny stocks I would highly recommend reading a book or two. You and your account will be swallowed up in no time if you are not wise.

On another note, APWR moved up 8.2% today :) now sitting at $17.80.

Patience looks like it may pay off for me this week :D
