Personally I wont, I consider any long term holding of C/BAC to be gambling right now, you might as well get FAS and hold it if you REALLY REALLY want to, but with the recent Fed moves such as FRE, FNM, TRAP, CEO .5 Mil restriction etc, as well as the lowering yield on the C's hybird bonds all indicate a realistic probability of BAC being nationalized, in which case all commons and perferred will be literally wipeout. It dropped 11% last month, more than it did in 2008. Similar to BAC bonds too.

I am waiting for FAZ to lower into the 30s and I might get a few :) No underlying change, increasing spending with no foreseeable end to the drop in the near term = false rally. It will probably hit 250, even 300, but I dont think in the near term it will turn the market.

lvs has a new casino opening in may...and to prevent themselves from defaulting on their debt, they're selling two shopping malls in macao (hey at least they're trying to get out of debt)

Also i watched LVS a couple days now and it reached new lows today so since this stock is so volatile, im hoping for a pop. MGM is just plain failing.

LVS is such a volatile stock, last Thursday it gained like 35% then crashed hard on the Friday. It has these unusual sudden spikes in midday also.

The best China can do is to stabilize themselves right now. The won't be able to pull rest of the world out that is for sure. Also the market is desperate for a rally on any little bit of good news now.

Getting in on FAS yesterday was a terrible mistake. I took a heavy loss on that. Should've stuck with FAZ when I purchased it at $87.

Today's market isn't doing that much better. FAZ reached new highs AGAIN. I was able to recover much of yesterday's loss. Now I'm only down a few hundred. :D

I'm new to investing. I've taken a finance course and have read a couple books but have yet to make my first trade. I'm about to set up a Scotia itrade account, is this a good one to use? My initial plan is to hold for a longer term, as I gain experience, I'll make more trades. I plan on starting with about $5000 that I would like to hold for a term of 3-4 years.

I have some shares in LVS and i really believe in a year or 2, the stock will take off...do your own DD..and ask yourself do you think las vegas will become a desert again. Thats the question i ask myself when i see 20% swings in the stock, quite volatile when u look at it everyday.

PALM: With the January announcement of the upcoming Palm Pre in June the corporate revenue has tanked and stock price has more than doubled.

It seems that lots of Palm customers are holding back on purchasing a new Palm phone in anticipation of Palm's "iphone killer". It's touted as their make or break product. This leads me to speculate that the brand loyalists and apple haters will flock to this phone and initial sales will be through the roof. Or, as seems typical of flagship phones in the last couple of years, it may be found lacking and abandoned. This could be to Palm what Wii was to Nintendo, or it could be the end.

How about a straddle/strangle; buying both call & put options and seeing what happens. Is this worthwhile or is there a better approach?

HOU.TO is based on future contracts as most of the the oil etfs. So you will be subject to contango if you hold for a long preriod of time. If you want good exposure to oil for the long term, screw the etfs and buy the oil sands companies such as SU.TO or COS.UN.TO
