dont tech too early, most newbs try to do that. u cant mass just one unit, even if its a tier 3 unit.

never have a lot of money in the bank unless you're protoss and you plan to warp in and entire fucking army (make sure u have enough warpgates to keep up or enough probes! LOL)

scout... scuot scout... if they're going early tech, counter it. if they're massing ground units, counter it.

u cant just stick with "one" plan.

Key thing in this game (this shit is important and if you want to win or get better)

- Scouting : know wtf there going !! its easy to tell what there going or plan to go by there building set up (ex. if they have 2 gas factories early game. expect them to have less grunt units like marines etc, there most liekly going to go units such as tanks and shit... )

- Expand : always makes expansions!

- Use choke points/hills : this can make the difference between winning and losing. (ex. 2 armies that are identical fight on a hill/choke area, whoever that is on the top of the hill/choke has a BIG advantage)


-Watch your replays!: learn from people who pwn your ass and learn from wtf you did wrong.


- Use the help menu in game: If you dont know whats good agianst what, click on the help menu top left during the game. It branches out and gives you a review of all the units/buildings. Gives you info like this unit is weak/strong agianst this and this...

I only played 2 games so far, and they were the ubern00b 1v1 first-steppes level. Both times I played random and got terran and played against zerg. Both times I got air pwned; I tried to counter the second time with vikings and battlecruisers but as soon as I beat off (shut it) my attackers and pursued to their base, there were more opposing units than I had expected.

I know I'm a n00b and haven't got ahold of the new tech trees and all that, but...I still feel like I'm more of a retard than I should be given that I didn't suck completely at SC1.

protoss dont need to expand too early unless u n eed a shit load of gas.

ive beaten many people that have 2 bases and i only have 1. as long as u keep pounding them and they keep wasting minerals replacing buildings and units u will win.

scout. build units that counter his units.

see them go roaches, go a few z's couple stalkers/sentries and go immortals

immortals are strong. i usually go early void ray. just 1 or even 2 can change the tide of battle.
u send a small army to the front fuck their army up a little while 2 void rays and a warp prism warps in zome zealots in the back

once u have the advantage its easy. cuz u can slowly tech while he's trying to make an army.

once u get DT's it can be game over if he's dumb and has few or little detectors.

i have the most trouble vs terran if they mass M&M's.
cant do jack shit :( i'd go psystorm but by the time that happens i already have a shit laod of them raping my probes.

Yeah. You download all the updates one by one. Seems like they didn't change the beta install program from the very first one, so it took about an hour or two to download everything for me.

Or disable peer-to-peer sharing. I did, and it sped up a lot. Mostly 'cause my upspeed sucks, and there's no way to throttle, so it was choking my bandwidth.

if you do well on your placement matches (4-1 3-2) you will get placed in platnium. It only means more when you play more and stay in platnium (that's when you get put up against higher lvl players). You're elo points mean the most

thats exactly why i dont think much emphasis should be placed on the tier youre in. the placement matches have all been a joke thus far for me. im pretty sure you need to be 5-0 to get into platinum though? i dropped out of one of our placement matches for fun and we ended up in gold.

I get it not everyone wants to rush but for fucks sake get some sort of force in case you get attacked early. It drives me fucking insane, I'll have shit loads of units but when you're fighting 2v1 because your partner isn't doing jackshit it sucks. It seriously makes me want to reach through my screen and smack them.

Make cybernics core(sp?) and 3rd gateway and upgrade warp gates.
KEEP pressure with units (depending what their build is). HARASS THE SHIT OUT OF THEM.
while doing this make stargates and pump carriers and and a mothership. If you get 3-5 carriers and a mothership, you pretty much won the game.
and if your carriers do die cuz their massing anti air units, just get dark templars GG

this will not work in gold or higher. you will be long dead before you can get carriers out

I was in gold before the reset, ive just been playing custom games so its totally random who your playing against.

i have 3 teams in plantium, 2 of them are in top 20 rank in their div.
In platinum vs platinum match, when your protoss in a 2v2, and the opponent has a terran.
you HAVE to get a stalker out ASAP.
if you make more than 2 zealot first, 8 rax reaper will just rape you, and this will happen in every game.

of course the hardest match up for a protoss player in 2v2 is vs. a zerg/terran team because you don't know if the zerg will 10pool you or the terran will 8rax reaper.

Graphics doesnt mean anything nowadays. The original SC was near impossible to top, but this is a worthy sequel for sure. Blizzard just spent too much time developing stuff for WOW. It was a damn long time but it sure beats those mediocre annual releases of Command & Conquer.

Like it or not, I am sure for the next 5 years this will be the top multiplayer game in the world unless some other company can make another super crazy game. (really doubtful)

i duno what class you're in man, but that shit don't even work for silver.

mid to high bronze and silver+ your opponents rush just as fast as you do, or slightly slower, but fast enough to defend against a 4 zealot rush.

i usually win by rushes, i can usually get 1 zealot into their base before they get their first warrior out if they're slightly slower. but usually it doesn't work. you just have to out resource/micro them.

most games end in 4-10min for me. anything that goes above 10min means we're pretty much equally matched.

My problem is still against mass marine marauders and medivacs (when they get them) early game. im always protoss and i don't really know what to do.

I can't get psystorm or collosi cuz that's too far into the game. by that time they already have so many men they can just outgun my forces.

immortals are good against marauders but now when backed up with tons of marines and medivacs. speed zealots are good too but either way i have no idea what the fuck to do. it sucks. only way is if i keep pressuring them from start to end so they lag behind in economy.

I've probably player 120 ranked 2v2 matches in the last 2 weeks split between random partners and friends. I only play terran, I haven't even tried any other races in probably 160 games including 1v1. Marine and Marauder rush usually works, if it gets to the point where I need to get air I win less then 50% of the time. I love when people try teching early because I'm just going to keep a stready stream of marines double pumping out of 3-4 barracks until there dead.

TO BE HONEST. it sucks..... really suck. I don't know why it took them so long to release it, its basicly the regular starcraft units plus a few more.

They turned the old starcraft into a warcraft style play, no big deal graphics suck. Same old shit, seriously dissapointing.

I think the games great. They took what made it one of the best games ever made and slightly improved it without taking any of the things people loved away. Having lower requirements allows them to sell to a larger demographic. They always take for ever with every development but Blizzard pretty much never gets it wrong. If you don't like it you're in the huge minority guaranteed.

hmm well ive really only played for about 1 week and i easily hit platinum, it might be because my partners are really good but im also top 5 in random 2v2 platinum
judging from the posts here it appears u guys are like relying too much on teching or something...i have only used carriers like twice for fun

i think the key is micromanagement, knowing what the other guy is doing, MASSING and expanding, confidence and other things
i dont know how to really explain it but i believe u guys have played games like wc3 and i think sc2 is somewhat similar, albeit with different units
one huge factor is control, i feel most of the time that i know what's going to happen...though i find it strange i feel this way despite only playing 75 games (all in 1 week *blush*

i usually use protoss and the things that u can do is build ur base properly, and if theyre attacking u, u must warp sentry's to block ur base to buy time (this is 2on2)
u MUST change ur strategy to counter your opponent as well, this is HUGE, u cannot just sit there and say Oh if i get my carriers i win, it doesnt work that way, ALWAYS counter ur opponent

oh and i dont use the double gateway zealot strategy, i used this build order ive seen the better players use, where u get only 1 gateway and a cybernetics to start, i noticed i can easily defend some cheesy zealot rush with like a few zealots and stalkers, just keep going back and forth with the stalkers or block off the incoming zealots and let the stalkers shoot
an early stalker also defends the lame reaper rush, i dont even know why its considered that big of a problem, cause once u get ur first stalker out, they really cant do anything...worst case, use ur probes and surround! (M key is surround, if uve played wc3!)

another advice i have to give is that u should force urself to change ur game completely if u notice ur losing a lot, clearly ur doing something wrong if ur losing, it's like anything else in life(excuse the analogy), don't be those people that keeps repeating the same thing if it doesn't work
i noticed when i changed my build orders and unit selections that i immediately became a different player, listen to what people tell u to do (in this case my partner is an aggressive 1on1 player), in a mere few days i think because of adjustments there has been vast improvements, but there is clearly plenty of holes in my game, hopefully i learn more as i go on
i.e. i had a difficult time dealing with speed lings, but i noticed buying time with sentry's and kiting with stalkers if i can helps a little

i should probably admit that i used to play wc3 a lot, ive played guys like showtime.werra and the professional poker player ELKY when he used to be a pro gamer, that might be why i was able to adapt faster even though i still feel like i suck at this game

the ladder is fuked up right now, plantium is really easy at least in 2v2... basically once you get in(which isn't hard, you just have to win 5 games in placement match vs noobs), you can't get out unless you really suck...because in everygame im in, im always unfavoured.
If i win i get 25+ points per game, and if i lose i lose like 3 point. The system is bugged because i have never found a game where the my team was favoured.
So i started to check the other players profile and surprise!! most team i fight, their team is in either silver or gold, and they are favoured while im rank 20 in platinum....

the new system is kind of crappy for talking to friends imo. You can't type /f m. To talk to your friends in game there's a tab above the "move, attack, patrol, etc." You click on that and it brings up the friends menu and you can talk to them through there. At least that's how it was when I last played. I don't know if they changed it.

The game is pretty fun, I'm not that great but I'm getting the hang of it. The difference between playing against a.i. and actual players is the speed that everything happens. In real games, everything happens SO quickly that you to get everything together.

for the looping patch, its not actually looping. It just does not say which patch its currently installing, it only shows that its installing the latest patch whereas you may be installing multiple patches. Thats why it looks like its looping. ;)

Try to mass a mid tier army and make a contain.

the recent patch which blizzard noted that they changed the ladder system.. it basically means play X amount of games and get to Diamond level. Saw a stream on teamliquid which someone left like 10 games straight to test the ladder system and he got into diamond by just leaving 5 seconds in the game. For all you guys wondering who he is, he is NonY of teamliquid :P

At a recent StarCraft II event in Seoul, Blizzard announced that any Korean gamers with an active World of Warcraft subscription will be able to play StarCraft II, free of charge. The deal lasts as long as the World of Warcraft account is active, and is a very smart move on the part of Blizzard to drive the popularity of WoW in the region. Blizzard's Chris Sigaty described the announcement as "a way of giving something back to such a supportive and skilled community of players."

It also makes a great deal of sense given the pricing system for StarCraft II in South Korea, which – given the popularity of playing at Internet cafes (or PC Bangs, as they're known there) – is a whole lot more flexible than anything we've seen in the West. The full game can be purchased for 69,000 won (about US $57), but more importantly, a 9,900 won monthly pass will also be available, and breaking it down even further, a 2,000 won pass for 24 hours of play. The game will sit on the player's hard drive and will be unlocked for play whenever a pass is purchased.

Would pricing systems like this work outside South Korea? Should Western WoW players also be treated to StarCraft II? Sound off below…
