naked and famous is your best bet to good quality with good price get a weird guy fit, i think it should be good for thick thighs ... with nudie denim i know that they have alot variety of fits now with varying measurements, so it mite be worthwhile to check that out if u got the cash...
on another note, people that wear raw selvedge are more concerned about the denim's quality versus its pocket or logo (much like how true religion gets their name out with logo put on old navy quality denim) so if ur going to buy raw selvedge based on its logo might as well not get it...so its up to u, but i wouldnt decide on the options i have based on a logo on the back pocket..

I just got my pair of N&F Weird in Indigo Selvedge from Cosmicbobo.

Forgot the guy's name already -.- ahaha, but he was really nice. Came all the way from Port Moody, and brought me two different pairs to try on. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Didn't charge me taxes either, so $125 straight up for a pair!

Some evisus you can find in japan are actually very nice quality. Not like the shitty designs you will find here at Boys Co.. etc. The reason you find that it's similar to R&R is because EVERYTHING in those stores are selling to the same "style" of people which consist of everything Dom Rebel, True Religion.. what else? Obviously they still have those ugly pairs where they have the huge gull going down their ass.. but I haven't seen anyone where those except for hongers... and those jap people with their over the top styles haha.

As for the fading of the gulls.. the paint will eventually just wear off, and turn into pure sexiness

Yeah, the same happened to me. I bought 2 sizes larger because I thought they would be too tight. I also hemmed them I didn't want it to stack. Now I'm stuck with a pair that doesn't fit me at all :P

Right away you can tell it's raw when you feel it. If the pocket stitching wasn't there and you touched 3 different pairs of raws, would you be able to tell which one is branded?

And what do you mean by "quality fades?" Any pair of raw denim will fade with wear over time. And theoretically, any pair of raw denim will "last longer" because of the lower amount of washes its been through.

There are differences that you can both see and feel when it comes to raw denim.

Where did the cotton come from? Cone mills in the US, Japanese denim or Italian? Whats the weight of the cotton?

What kind of dye is used? Is is organic or synthetic? Dipped how many times? Hand dipped or machine dipped? Black coated?

What kind of hardware is used? Heavy duty hardware? Color of hardware? Some even use pure gold or exotic materials for rivets. Is there a leather patch? What's the quality of the patch?

Subtle details like selvage coin pocket, double stitched back pocket for reinforcement, hidden rivets, and others.

So sometimes you pay more for the details but any raw denim is better than True Religion and others like it.

i've recently got the thin finn slim jims as well, i actually like the back pocket, it's easy to "match" with your outfit rather than the signature orange stitching on the back pockets.

since you're going to the states, if you have a p.o. box, you can actually get the will rasts outlets down at desert hills to deliver it to your p.o box...they got a pretty huge selection there and some pretty nice styles... just never bought any cus i never really took a liking to will rasts..

i agree... and this just tells you that Van places alot more emphasis on the logo than the jean itself....

on a side note, even though the deciding factor for me in jeans still is its quality i still cant justify paying the difference, going from n&fs at about $150 to flatheads at about $400, just for the minute quality differences... n&fs already meet my standards, so for the most part, i wouldn't feel like spending another couple bills just for the minute differences in quality(which im sure most denim heads with their substantially higher standards would definitely disagree)

I only know of UO and Plenty selling them. Other places might, not sure.

And the sizing is up to your personal preference.
If you get a tight fit, it will stretch. But after you wash it, it will shrink back to its original size.
Same goes for a perfect fit. It will stretch, but after the wash it'll return to its original size.

Unbranded can be found at UO and Plenty. You can also find it at some other stores as well. Make sure to try it on before you buy it, the fit will be uncomfortable at first but it will stretch after a week or two.

But all the details are there, chain stitching at the hem and waist and it even has hidden rivets for the back pockets. Something my NFs didnt even have. Even if they suck, I still only paid $20. The only unfortunate thing for me was what I mentioned above, one of the rivets popped from the coin pocket.

I am not sure if I would pay retail on Unbranded though, when you can pay a bit more and get some NFs. Especially with the amount of time you"ll be spending in them.

I have 3 pairs of nudies, 1 is raw denim that I haven't washed in a little over a year, pretty funny has a fade in the shape of my iphone in the front. 1 is a coated black one which is a blue Raw denim underneath (My friend washed his turned blue haha), and 3rd is a pair of skinny non-raw denim IIRC and these ones I managed to tear a hole through the knees in less than a month, they were the most expensive ones I bought too @ $250 before tax :'( and they looked the best wash-wise

how exactly does the rate of fading have to do with raw denim feel? I wouldn't describe it as "raw denim feel" because raw denim is raw denim, it cant feel "less" of itself. Perhaps a better adjective would be make more sense?

I just bought a pair of Gstar Raw jeans, well i THINK they're raw. They have that stiff material (but a bit thinner than Nudies). They are Black, not indigo
Does the "not washing" thing still apply to them? On the nudies site, it says the "6 months" thing only applies to Indigo jeans, but not black.
I'm Prettty sure these are raw black jeans.. do i wash them regularly or every few months?

They are decent. The fit isn't that nice unless you go for the LVC 501's. They will fade like any other pair of jeans raw or not. I started with the Levis STF and wore those for about 3 months before I decided to move onto Nudies, then APC's, and then finally my Samurais. I'll see if I can find any pictures for reference.

if you got the extra money to spare, then by all means go and try out the Levi STF to see if the raw denim thing is really for you....

there are also many other cheap alternatives to Levi STF if you are starting off...

Uniqlos fit is nice... but the quality of the denim is shit. They're using the whole "selvedge" denim for a cheap price to sell. I've got 2 pairs of the premium japanese raw selvedge but to be honest they barely fade at all. If you wanted to see how fading works, before moving onto a better brand, I'd go with the Levis Shrink to Fit. But if anyones interested, I've got my navy uniqlo waist 32. Worn for about 1-2 months... untouched for 3-4 years. $30 :)

Lol great job with the marketing.... dont expect to sell the jeans now that uve given ur honest opinion...

But yeah, some of the cheaper quality raw selvedges just dont produce the dazzling effects you would expect of raw selvedges. My cheap mondays for one, havent changed much if at all from day 1. $80 down the drain.

But if any one wants em theyre yours for $20. Guess I didnt do a good job of marketing either :troll:

haha maybe someone doesn't want to throw down much for selvedge denim and only wants the nice fit :) besides you can't buy uniqlo anywhere in North America except New York and LA (which is opening soon, if not already opened).

I think I stayed with my size or went down 1... can't really remember. I got mine at the Bay, not sure if they still carry these. But it's definitely cheaper there compared to Levis store.

nordstrom rack is either a hit or miss.. all the times ive been there they didnt have my size or there werent any nice looking jeans
