as far as i can tell its just a standard hrap3 in an alternate colour. it was probably released as a limited run to coincide with the japanese white sony ps3 release.

SF3 Third Strike is my favorite SF, then SFA2 and SSF2T. Gill is a pain in the ass, Seth is a walk in the park compared to him.

no need to use akuma to unlock gouken. i used ryu, got 2 perfects, 3 ultra finish, no continues, beat seth and you'll fight gouken. he's only unlockable after unlocking everyone first (cammy, feilong, dan, rose, sakura, akuma) otherwise you'll just fight him but not unlockable

Bisons specials are like guile's sonic booms, e honda's fly headbut or blanka's forward roll, you charge back for 2 seconds then press forward and the appropriate button

The "Z" motion is ken, ryu, akuma's dragon punch motion.

ahhh friday was a good day. got my copy of sf4 which came with a dorky headband, picked up my brand new hrap3 and my frank kozik autographed smorkin labbit for my collection.

man i am loving my hrap3. the build quality is excellent, really sturdy and heavy too! the joystick is great although theres a bit of a learning curve for me. im used to playing on american arcade machines and havent really played anything in the arcade since sf3. im not used to the japanese style sticks but after a little mental re-training and a few days its all good. the buttons on the hrap3 are ok, they are not as sensitive as i had hoped. sometimes you have to mash on them (like when doing 3x punch/kick), they are also a bit loud and have a mushy/dampening feel. they are good for now though, ive already scoped out white sanwa buttons and are going to order them soon.

who on here has actually worn the headband? dont be shy... post a pic! :haha:

Try to get at least perfect or an ultra combo finish for all rounds. I had 4 perfects, and 4 ultra combo finishes and Gouken came out. Gouken actually came out the time I was trying to use Ken to get Akuma to come out since I over did the perfect/ultras.

Anyone else find that this game is all about the ultra's ? its retarded how your ultra builds up for getting beat, too many noobs rely on that shit, it should build up liek your super bar and you should be able to keep it between round like the super.

I loved Alpha 2. It was the only other SF game that i played religiously (never got into SF3 too much). Highest score i ever got in that game was over 2 million with Ken. :)

The Ultra combos are great in a sense that you can really turn the match around if you're at full power (takes off half bar!!!). keeps it interesting IMO :)

yeah im not very good at these games either. There's no way I can beat him at my current skill level. First round totally tricked me. I was like "he's kinda hard, but this is too easy". then second round he proceeded to obliterate me. I don't think I even threw an attack that made contact with him. They all completely missed and were quickly returned with some super uppercuts and body slams and a lot of teleporting around.

seth is a funny opponent. at the standard medium difficulty he is a breeze in the first round (as usual), in the second round he sticks to his patterns... either you whip his ass with simple two hit combos or he beats you over and over again.

Afaik there are a few hrap3's... The regular black one, white, black sf4 edition, white SA. The regular white one is only $30 more on play-asia but u have to factor in exchange and shipping. I got my hrap3 $140 cad all in from amazon.com with free shipping to the US. I just ordered all white sanwa buttons and a white joystick ball from akihabara-shop and it cost me $45 cad all in. Swapping the buttons is an easy mod, the are connected with quick disconnects like car speakers. Check out the technical forums over at shoryuken.com for more info.

for those that still have trouble unlocking akuma and/or gouken, this is taken from capcom

To unlock Akuma as a playable character:
1. Unlock Cammy, Fei Long, Dan, Sakura, Rose, and Gen.
2. Pick a character you have already used to beat Arcade Mode.
3. Win all your matches without continuing and without losing any rounds before fighting with Seth.
4. You need to get at least one "perfect" win in a round, and more than one depending on how many rounds per match you are playing.

- 1 round match: 1 perfect round or more
- 3 round match: 2 perfect rounds or more
- 5 round match: 3 perfect rounds or more
- 7 round match: 4 perfect rounds or more

(including the last battle against Seth)

5. If you meet these conditions, Akuma will appear. Defeat him to unlock Akuma as a selectable character.

To unlock Gouken as a playable character:
1. Complete Arcade Mode playing as Akuma and watch (not necessary to watch everything) an ending.

did you get into SF3 at all? EX moves were a part of that game too but not as big as SF4. to perform an EX move just do a regular move (ie, fireball, uppercut) and use two buttons instead of one (2x punch). you character will flash like they are on fire and the move will hit a few times more than usual if it connects. this will use one full bar from your combo meter.

Dunno why my psn name is coreyxp but it is. I dunno why people wanna use ken still not as good as he was in sf3, his ultra is like almost impossible to link up into anything, and he's not as versatile as ryu. Well on the surface seems like he's just a faster slightly less damaging version of ryu but there's so many things that nerfed the ken everyone knew from sf3.

what kind did you get? if it has a japanese style stick (most likely) then the stick will feel loose and not have much resistance, also it will rotate within a square border rather than circular.

my new joystick is like this and it takes a while and some mental training to get used to. before this the last joystick i played was a SF3 arcade machine almost 10 years ago. the feel is totally different as those machines used american style sticks... more resistance, circular rotation, baseball bat shaped stick, etc...

lesson 1, shut off you downloads when playing online... you need a pretty stable connection to play online. i have the shaw xtreme-i and i consistently get 10+ mbps down and 500+ kbps up. if i have torrents running, even just at 100kbps each way then my PSN connection takes a long time to load and it drops all the time.

lesson 2, install the game onto your hdd... if you dont the load times before each match are long and it kills when you are waiting to play someone online. you can totally tell when your opponent doesnt have the game loaded, it sucks. if you dont do it for your online opponent at least do it for yourself.

lesson 3, ditch your wireless connection.... wireless connections vary in stability based on many factors (range, number of clients, interference, performance/quality of access point). in most home wireless setups you will receive better results if you jack in using ethernet, if your wireless is speedy then you have nothing to worry about unless you are trying to stream video to your ps3.

Lol thats cuz you're playin on wireless, if u want no lag u gotta sacrifice some aesthetics and take a 100ft cable and route it to your ps3. Just like remove it when guests come, or get two 50ft cables with a disconnect in the middle

are you having connectivity issues? i dont know the default ports for PSN connectivity but you shouldnt need to open any ports. by default most consumer routers have an open outgoing firewall, meaning that nothing is blocked going out. your PS3 should go out thru the router and open a port using NAT, any response to that will go thru the firewall back to the PS3.

actually i had one perfect round..

1 round, easiest difficutly and i use Ryu because his ultra is a projectile (fireball) and the ai never blocks it.

I don't play SF4 on PC, but I play SF3 and other SF/KOF games on PC and yes, that is how you do it. I've been playing on keyboard since 1998, but keyboards aren't tournament worthy, so I have been playing on stick for many years now instead.

Unfortunately, I don't think SF4 allows cross-platform play, so I don't think you can have PC/XBOX/PSN players fight one another.



Since we're not playing ranked battles against one another, it's SOOO much more fun rushing down rather than running away, so I'll even try my best to RTSD on Gief :thumbsup:

btw how do alternative costumes work? Do you have to earn them or somesing?

You have to buy the alternate costumes from Playstation Network, but you earn the other colours in the Time Attack and Survival mode.

Man, the only new character I know how to fight against is Abel.

Good dhalsim's are hella fustrating to fight, at least for my guile anyways. Uppercut'able characters are easier, just random light uppercut his non-fireball attacks, and try and get close, then he's GG'ed. :p
