6793026 - i don't see why the L2/R2 buttons would be an issue. and as for playing the computer, it can get boring after awhile if you figure out the computer's AI (ie: my highest score in SF Alpha 2 was over 2million, became too easy on the hardest setting). so playing online will present you with more variety and challenges. :)

ok just wanna update everyone incase you dont know by now, they raised the prices for both version by $10 for both system

so regular edition was 59.99 -> 69.99 now
CE edition was 79.99 -> 89.99 now

grr i should have paid in full for my preorder of the CE edition. if you already paid in full, you dont need to pay the difference when you pick it up according to EB.

Regarding people who say the PS3 controller is better than Xbox 360 controller, I feel the opposite way. The d-pad on the PS3 is really bad for fighting games (for me). I do better with the analog stick on the 360. Realistically, I should probably invest in a FightStick instead. The Mad Catz Limited Edition ones look hawt.

The American MSRP for the TE FightStick is $150, so the exchange would bring it into the $180 to $190 range. Sounds about right. I talked to the reps from Mad Catz at CES last month and they said the TE Stick will be limited quantities and they expect to be back-ordered and/or very short. Even the regular SFIV FightStick (MSRP = US$90) will be in short supply. That one doesn't use real arcade components.

I tried the TE FightStick and it feels very solid. I wish it had a little more weight and it'll be weird playing on your lap, so it's best if you've got a table to put it on.

I can never understand the logic of using a controller to play SF.

You can never pull off some of the combos and juggles with a D-pad that you can do with a joystick.

But for those who like to use the D-pad, they are coming out with special Xbox controllers with a 6 button interface... so there is no need to use the triggers...

You can Youtube it, they have a video describing the d-pad, and the two joysticks from Madcatz

arcade sticks rule... hands down there is no comparison! since i cant justify paying $150+ per stick for authentic joysticks i will be using controllers too.

the xbox controller sucks balls for fighting games, the ps3 controller is better but the d-pad is terrible. get one of the mad catz street fighter controllers, the d-pads are way better and they have 6 buttons on the front. i will be using my street fighter 15th anniversary PS2 controllers on my PS3, they rock!

For Ken's Medium, Fierce, Dragon Punch, i have to have 3 fingers on all 3 punch buttons to make it work. And if you are using a super aggressive character like Dudley... you need to keep jabbing and shorting to create a super cancel opportunity.

Maybe my right thumb movement just isn't as fast as you guys hahahaha

...im not going to shell out $300+ for a pair of authentic joysticks so i am stuck with controllers. i have a couple of these from 2004 and they work great. i just ordered a couple ps2>usb cables to make these work with my ps3. check them out...

fuck I heard that the PS3 version has no AA, and only 640p during those super combo cut scenes, while the 360 version has 2aa and 720p all the way? Also my friends are telling me that the PS3 version takes 15secs to load w/o install, and 5 sec with install per game?

Is this true, if anyone managed to get a PS3 copy, is that a big deal?

I really dont want to play SF4 on 360 controller, but if the PS3 version is significantly worse than the 360 one, I will pay for a joystick +360

if i recall correctly the sfIV arcade cabinets don't have AA either, so I doubt the PS3 version will look worse than the actual arcade cabinets. Maybe not as buttery smooth as 2xAA would on the 360 but still i'm sure it's not exactly going to be bad enough to warrant getting it for the other system if you've already decided to get it for the ps3.

Also, I read that during the supers it does dynamically scale to 630p or what not, but I don't think that's a big issue either, I mean looking at the screen shots the game doesn't look particularly better or worse between systems.

Damn what kind of problems does it have. From what I read it is what it is. A $50 home arcarde stick with good button layout, okay parts, and a higher price tag because of SF4 artwork. It's a good basic stick but does not have the same parts or feel as the arcarde machines.

If u want a better stick that won't break the bank then grab a Hori HRAP3. I got one off Amazon for $99 usd ($140 cad after free shipping to Blaine, taxes and exchange). It's an amazing stick, great size, weight and parts. The real deal Sanwa arcade joystick and buttons by Hori. Hard core gamers diss the Hori buttons but the are still great, just not the exact same ones used in the arcade machines. It's really just preference, u can always swap the parts, this will void your warranty though.

The best off the shelf stick seems to be the SF4 tournament edition fight stick. It's very similar to the HRAP3 but uses all Sanwa parts and has the cool SF4 artwork. Good luck finding one of these, they would cost $200 cad if not sold out, expect to pay $300+ online fob one of these. Personally I'd rather get 2 HRAP3s instead. There are also a few special edition HRAP3s that go for $150-200 usd each. They offer different colours, Sanwa buttons, and yes even SF4 artwork. Check them out online.

Oh yeah, if u happened to pre-order the SF4 standard fight stick u can always open it up and swap the parts out. But personally at that expense you are better off with a superior and more comfortable HRAP3.

From what I've read the madcatz SE fightstick is good to get if you plan on modding it (ie. replacing all the components with Sanwa, semitsu parts).

The hori sticks are higher initial quality but once they break a bit harder to mod.

okay here is the lowdown.... bestbuy/futureshop has a feb 19th release date. the source by circuit city (yes there are still a few left) released the game today, all copies are sold out. hmv was also going to sell it today but their shipment was late, maybe check back later. gamestop/ebgames has a feb 18th release date.

last month i pre-ordered online with bestbuy but it probably wont ship until friday and arrive sometime next week. im picking up my new hrap3 joystick on friday and cant go through the weekend without playing sf4. im so hyped up that i went down to gamestop today and preordered it there too. i was told to come back tomorrow morning to pickup my copy :D

while i was down there i also preordered resident evil 5 :thumbsup:

lol the hori stick on playasia is going for $120 or so. I'm still thinking if its worth getting the stick, cause if you buy a stick for yourself and when a friend comes over and he has to use the Dual Shock 3 or w/e. Just doesn't seem right. i understand the issue about only having one joystick but i looked at it this way... i could either buy two $60 joysticks and one would collect dust when i dont have company over, or i could buy one nice $100-150 joystick and use it all the time, no money wasted collecting dust. plus when i do have company over or if i were to have a tournament party, my friends that are serious street fighters would buy/bring they own joysticks. look at real tournament competitors, they bring their own custom stick to the match.

Nope EB is selling it for $59.99 this week as well, until 22th or something I'm not totally sure.

I picked up my pre-order today but the xbox controller seems to suck. I am not a hardcore fan but I had trouble pulling off ultra/super with the controller. I played SF3 yesterday on my PSP and it was easier to do it. There is some sort of input lag with the xbox controller, I pulled off random cancel moves with Ken just by doing a simple hadouken lol.

I believe the only retail store that carries them is EB/Gamestop. You can buy it from gamestop.com or Capcom's website I think, but the exchange rate and shipping sucks :(

awesome game, i tried playing online and its pretty decent, a little slower but you really have to play people when your connection status is all green. anything other then that will cause some crap lag.

update:

I really dont like the game at all, im going to take my copy back as i already promised the other one to someone else.

The computer spams the same moves over and over again.

the ps3 controller cant do anything accurately.

Honeslty as far as fighting games go i dont even think it looks that good, i prefer Soul calibur to this game.

And the online lags pretty badly, i remeber them saying gloating saying it would be lagless connections, that was lie.

All and all im pretty disapointed, i played it for about a half hour and i doubt i will play it again.

I love this game.

Spent 5.5 hours playing it last nite till my eyes were fried. tons of stuff to do/unlock.

Online was decent. i found that as long as i had 3-4 'bars' on that connection indicator the game was completely lag free (whereas i had some lag issues on SF2HD Remix).

last night i wanted to play sf4 so bad that i went out and rented it. the game is amazing but i must say that using the ps3 controller sucks balls. some moves/combos are hard to pull off and the d-pad hurts my thumb too!

yes and no.... the HRAP3 is a great stick and it wont break the bank. its the best compromise between value and owning an "authentic" arcade stick. the only problem people have with this stick is the hori made buttons. this is really just a preference thing but people who are used to sanwa buttons from the japanese arcade machines dont like hori buttons. the good news is that you can swap them easily. although most people wont have a problem with the buttons and will love the stick as is.

the only "better" sticks out there for the ps3 are the HRAP3SA (comes with sanwa buttons) and the SF4 tournament edition stick (again with sanwa buttons). both of these will run you $200+ after taxes, to me the sanwa buttons were not worth the $70 difference in price.

the "best" option is the most expensive option and is a custom built stick. built to your specs, liking, playing style, etc. this is really only for tournament players.

The product looked great, and many people were really excited about it. Well, I received my pre-order from Gamespot and was very disappointed. The stick was sticking in certain positions, the buttons felt kind mushy, and it was just to small. I returned the MadKatz and ordered this puppy. This product looks and feels like a million bucks. The joystick movement is seamless and perfect. It is very precise and even the Hori buttons that many people don't like are great. The stick is big and solid. The best stick I have ever owned hands down.

FYI, did u guys know that Hori makes a limited edition SF4 joystick? I think I saw it on their site. Anyways it's a nice alternative to the Mad Catz TE stick but it's way too expensive. I think after shipping, duty and all (coming from Japan) you are looking at about $250+.

i got into SF4 a bit last night but nothing serious, tonight i played through it a few times and holy shit the d-pad sucks balls. my timing is off, some combos/moves are hard as hell to do, and it hard to do the 3 button moves. im giving up on SF4 until i get my joystick tomorrow.

I thought they fixed it so you get a win anyways? You get more points if you win against a higher ranked player, and lose more points when you lose to a lower ranked player. I was 4-0 and then I got my ass handed to me like 5 times against Blanka :lol

Yeah seth is a bitch especially after you beat him 1 round. I find that doing the charge move supers and ultra's are easier then doing the double fireball ones. I usually do a combo with a fireball then link it to a super or ultra :thumbsup:

heres the limited edition sf4 hrap3 (pn# hp3-52) and the "special addition" version of the hrap3 (pn# hp3-53). both of these are japan only releases. the hp3-52 is just a regular hrap3 with sf4 artwork, if you are lucky enough to find one expect to pay about $200. the hp3-53 is an hrap3 with the "special addition" of sanwa buttons, expect to pay about $250.
