good luck finding one.... but since you are going to the mecca why dont you get something better (... thats not made by mad crapz) like a HRAP-SA. it has exactly the same parts but with a much better reputation, they are rare and expensive here but you should be able to get one out there.

fyi, i just modded my regular HRAP3 with all white sanwa buttons (just like the HRAP-SA or the SF4 FightStick TE) last night and it makes a world of difference (will post pics later). when i first got my HRAP3 i loved it but after a couple of weeks i started to loathe the crappy hori buttons. they felt like crap, when pushed down they still felt raised, they were loose and rotated and moved around, they were loud and had a mushy feeling (feels like they dampened your button press, kind of like a resistance) that sometimes messed with doing ultra combos. anyways i love the new buttons they are easily 10x better, they are quieter, more responsive, have a shorter throw, when depressed the button is completely flat (doesnt feel raised or convex), its now easier to do 3 button ultra combos.

also i was playing some dude last night who was pretty good with zangief and abel. when playing someone skilled with zangief its always a tuff match but i can usually keep it close and make the battles go back and forth but this guys abel drove me crazy. i hate playing against abel, he's not big ang bulky like zangief but he has all the throws, can roll through fireballs and his stupid three hit move hits high and then low so you have to be on top of this when you are on the defense.

guess what its friday the 13th (again, the 2nd of 3 times this year), anyone picking up resident evil 5 ??? i havent really played the demo too much but the game looks awesome and challenging. cant wait to hit up gamestop and grab my copy!

apparently the white version of the hrap3 comes with sanwa buttons. (i've heard) The black american version just comes with a sanwa stick and hori buttons.

The best out of the box fightstick performance is the madcatz TE fightstick as its got all sanwa components, second to that would be the HRAP 3 white (if what i've heard was true), then HRAP3 black.

For modding, if you want a good case to build off of, either the HRAP3 or the regular SFIV madcatz fightstick ($80) are direct swaps with almost no tools req'd.

i dont recommend getting one of the hori fight sticks unless you are on a budget or if you have really small hands. i find that the chassis is tool small and are pretty light and too plasticky.

It's possible.
Unfortunately in SF4, blockstun is very short (time-wise) so Zangief has a harder time doing his usual SF2 and SF Alpha tick grabs (Light punch or light kick blocked into SPD) so the jumping method is more effective this time around, and Gief has other moves buffed up.

Its easy to do on the 360 pad. You just need to use the shortcut and swing it faster.

the shortcut is to do a half circle from back to forward then upfoward. You actually dont need to do the whole circle motion which makes it much easier.

I believe so. Ken's is Twd+MK to kara. The range is about over 1 char length in distance, and greatly adds to his mixup game.
Akuma and Ryu's is Stand HK. Sagat doesn't have a karathrow, but he can cancel his Twd HK into specials.
I didn't check it for the other characters.

no wonder, Ken's S.MK has some serious range with his intial step. i was trying that with Ryu and Akuma before but it seemed very minimal with their MK...thanks for the tip on using the HK instead.

i still suck using sagat...have trouble doing the uppercut, FADC, TWD.HK, Ultra...can't time it unless i assign a my L2 button to be only for FA's...dammit.

I can take out mots zangief / shoto's with my guile even if he's low tier. ;)

most zangief's are easy as hell to bait (command throws / lariat / ex palm, all are punishable), and shoto's are even easier when they're scrubby. But I do agree tho, the lag that comes with online play is hella gay.

lol, dood if your cammy is that good then you shouldn't have too much problem beating your opponents no matter who they pick.

i personally don't care if the other player wants to wait to see who i pick. i'll just pick first and try to destroy them with my ryu or rose.

what do you consider to be cheap in this game? it's fairly balanced IMO and even people that use Sagat can be beaten (hard to beat a really good Sagat though). :)

focus attack to absorb the first hit, then dash away. there's an option for you in that circumstance. you could also try using your EX moves to try to get out of getting crossed up. :)

Whenever I do raging demon, I time it so Akuma grabs them right as they get up. More often than not, I find it easier to hit them a couple of times with light punch, and then link it straight over.

Just pick who you feel more comfortable with. Guile is bottom tier and does shit damage and I seem to do fine with him. ;) Just get good with whoever you end up picking and tiering would be the last thing you worry about, unless you're playing against a sagat who actually knows what they're doing. lol

Ah man, I need a stick soon. It's difficult to play on the X360 analog. Would you guys recommend the Hori EX2 or the SF4 SE stick? I'm probably going to upgrade the button and stick on them too.

Just play with the EX2 for a while first, unless you're super anal about the buttons and such. that way when you upgrade later on you will feel the difference, that along is already a huge level up in your skill lvl. :D:D

YES, for me the buttons made a huge difference, night and day for sure... and im not even a current arcade player, i cant remember the last time i was at an arcade but i used to spend all my money on games from the SF2 era to SFIII 3rd strike.

the standard HRAP buttons move around alot, they are kind of thick and bulky, also they are not very responsive, you have to really press on them hard when doing 3 button moves (ultras). i found that if it didnt or if i was not very precise with my finger tips then only 2 of the 3 buttons would register.

my next mod is going to be the joystick. i cant justify buying a new and stiffer stick to put inside my HRAP3 as i have spent enough on it already so i can going to mod it. im going to do a spring mod, that means doubling up on the springs that keep the joystick centered or using a single stiffer spring from a different joystick. this mod will give the stick a more controlled feeling so it wont feel as loose.

I use the X360 analog stick. It works most of the time, but it's a little tricky to do consecutive down-front/down-fronts.

The only way to play it on the X360 is with the analog stick. I tried with the d-pad, and trust me, unless you have fingers of a God, you ain't pulling off shit with that, haha.

How's the Mad Catz SE stick? I might get it and mod it with Sanwa parts, but I hear some of the boards are defective or something? Would it matter if I were going to swap parts anyways?

everyone I know who has the xbox version of sf4 has a fight stick because the controller is horrible even if ur using the analog stick. Good thing us ps3 owners have no problem using our controllers :)

Games For Windows Live sucks. It's integrated with Xbox Live but most games aren't. I went on xbox live, added my friend who got it for PC, invite him into game but it tells him to "insert the sf4 disc" which is obviously already in.
