the BIGGEST beef i have is the fact that they took out the "FF-ness" of the FF series. I mean c'mon, mini-games is the staple of FF. Think of all the mini-games FF7 has. And those games add to the story. World Map is also a big thing. I loved the fact that u can get a airship & go anywhere in the world. FF13 has none of that. And the entire game is merely one big ass dungeon really sucks.

Also found out a little fun fact: the main character of FF13 is 5'10", making her taller than EVERY male main character from FF 7-12, Cloud by comparison is 5'7". Learned this when I was trying to find info on the game lol.

my friend's almost finished the game, at the last boss.

he was saying how the beginning the game wasn't all that fun, but as the game wore on it becomes pretty good.

It wasn't your traditional FF, very linear - won't miss anything in the game. So i guess other then graphics, there isn't any replay value once you beat it.

Dam that sucks, I just read the wired review and it seems like it is moment to moment battles, no towns, no downtime. For me, that i what makes an RPG and not a shooter. Hopefully they will freak out for the next game and make something akin to ff9 :P

I agree. Western gamers have very short attention spans. They prefer to kill first, think later type of game. Logging 100+ hours on 1 game is not what they are used to.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with everything people say, about it being linear and sucks that a lot of what made final fantasy, final fantasy is missing. But I know I will enjoy this game none the less. Sort of like Avatar, Personally I enjoyed that movie way more than any other movie I've seen, but i also agree with the critical reviews of it as well.

This is EBgames/Gamestop. they suck balls, treat customers as pawns and just overall shitty. Their so called edge card/gift card is a way to sucker the idiots who dont kno better to trade in games there. FutureShop/bestbuy offer giftcards and a bit better pricing, and Blockbuster/Rogers offer some pretty good deals.

The staff at gamestop/EB games are shit too. Not that they dont wanna help, but how the goddamn company treats their employees has 100% correlation to why they suck so much. I've talked to this one guy who has since been promoted up the corporate ladder a few times at game launches and such, he will be nameless, but he hates how the company treats the underlings at retail front. he knos it, and he tries everything in his own power and will within company policy to provide service.

As per last nite, fucking idiots at MetroEBgames told ppl that if you didnt have preorder to GTFO, 15min to 30min b4 midnight. I couldnt preorder the game in november from EB, not that i wanted to, but i had won a giftcard from work. So i heard this morning from my friend who didnt preorder the game and walked right into metrotown EB and picked it up. Those fucking assholes

I bought my game from EB today, and the nameless corporate guy was there to look over the day, I got to use my $30 giftcard and recieved regular guide and a free poster for my troubles

No other person/staff at EB will be able to do this.

There IS limit break, sort of. Lightning learns a 8-hit attack that uses all ATB bars with the BLA role. This ability is unlocked after you get Crystarium level 10. Don't know what BLA is in the USA version... :S

Also, I guess the summons' final attacks could be considered limit breaks.

And yes, the first 3 chapters are pretty boring. Gets much, MUCH better once you get to around chapter 8. Chapter 11 is epic.

Crystarium upgrade is done through storyline. As you progress through the game, you unlock higher Crystarium levels, and thus you unlock more abilities and roles.

And yeah, just move on to medic etc. There'll be a bunch of places where you can farm for CPs later on.

Later on the Attacker class (I think its Commando in NA? The red text one) will allow you to do air combos on those who are Staggered.

The game has limit breaks, but that won't be until much much later in the game.

If you feel the need to grind CP in the early stages just leave an area and go back, or just save, then reload your game to repeat. Later on it'll be much easier and much more worthwhile.

Oh! Be careful of upgrading items too. Gil doesn't come easy in this game (You dont get any for defeating monsters). You're best off using the enhancing items to give your weapon/accessory a 3x multiplier bonus, then spamming a boatload of one exp heavy items (like, 99 of a particular item) in one go to maximize your exp intake. If you use, say, 25 of one item instead, your 3x bonus will go down to 2.5, 2, or less.

In Final Fantasy 4 for the DS, they were using the English Dialog which was absolute garbage.

The mouth movement this is pretty insane, they did it even in the CGI cutscenes, which means that they rendered/animated each cgi with dialouge twice.

Lol i'll give you guys a hand on chapter 11 quests then if you need any. The worst trophies are the "all items" and 5 stars on all missions. Hated those so much -_-

There's 13 chapters altogether. Once your buffers and debuffers get more skills, you'll be using manual mode.

If you do start to finish without any missions in chapter 11, you'll be running in on about... 30-40 hours depending on how often you stop to gain some extra CP. The fights on Chapter 12 are rediculous compared to Chapter 11, so it'd be good to do a few missions first.

There are 64 (or was it 62) missions on Chapter 11 (You can return there when you hit Chapter 13). The enemies in the upper missions are more difficult than the last few in the story, and that's where most of the time (at least another 40 or so hours minimum) will be spent.

If you're after the trophies on PSN, it takes even longer when you want to get 5 stars on all the missions. And lots of farming and grinding is involved if you want the all equipment trophy too

Withint each large chapter, they are many smaller chapter within. When you reach to a certain place, it tells you the name etc etc
