The most people I've seen in the server so far is 8 (9 including me) ... it was pretty fun but it died off pretty quick too ... I think this server needs to be "different"... maybe turn on FF and collision for realism ... then appoint some mods to control any abuse, then add some stats, and you will have the best server in the West!

I'm just applying these ideas based on the most popular CS 1.6 server right now, -UNITY-, it's one of the only servers left that's populated most of the time. Every other server in 1.6 now is full of bots or weird random game modes.

The use of a digital reproduction of a Vancouver-area high school as the backdrop for a violent first-person shooter video game has alarmed school administrators and teachers in Port Moody, B.C.

The digital reproduction of Port Moody Secondary School was designed for Counter-Strike, a video game in which players use automatic assault rifles to shoot at enemy forces.

Counter-Strike allows users to customize the game by designing their own scenarios or scenes called "maps" to share with others.

The controversy was sparked after a video of the game using the digital reproduction of the high school was posted on YouTube.

In the game video the shooter wanders around the school shooting military opponents, but no students or teachers appear in the video.

Former student helped develop scenario
One young man, who claimed to be involved in the creation of the game map, said he believed gamers were "sufficiently mature to realize that the degree of freedom allotted to you in the virtual realm do not extend to your rights in reality."

His comments were published on his website, where he also responded to many of CBC's questions.

The man refused to identify himself and speak on the record with CBC, but online he referred to himself as an alumnus of Port Moody Secondary School.

"Let us start by saying Port Moody Secondary is a great school," he wrote. "Rest assured there is no malicious intent behind this production to any actual school property, nor any actual persons associated with the school.

"Additionally, people should realize this is simply a game. No physical harm comes from it. Guns in reality are generally lethal weapons. Guns in a videogame can't hurt anyone."

He continued: "There are no students being killed. The gameplay is the same as all counter strike games, where you have two teams fighting against each other, much like most other shooters which use public settings as game environments."

Violent video shocks teacher
On Thursday night, several Port Moody residents told CBC News they were outraged and upset, especially in light of recent incidents of gun violence in schools.

Alex Devlin, a physical education teacher at Port Moody Secondary, said he was shocked when he saw the map of the school online.

"I love that school," Devlin told CBC News. "We have amazing students, we have a wonderful caring staff.

"The distinguishing thing about our school is the rainbow-coloured lockers … it makes you feel good. And to see that violence that same senseless violence in our hallway, our rainbow-coloured hallway, it was devastating."

Port Moody Police say they were notified about the video by school officials and interviewed those responsible.

"Although the creation of such a video game is likely ill-conceived in the current climate, it does not constitute an offence," a statement released by the Port Moody Police Department on Friday morning said.

"Investigators from the Port Moody Police Department have interviewed the developer of this game and have concluded that he does not pose a danger to the staff or students of Port Moody Secondary."

I believe the scene is huge in Europe still, however some teams are starting to switch over to GO.. The problem is there's no money in CS:GO.. and many pros prefer 1.6.

I played 1.6 for years.. since I was a little kid (didn't get into the competitive scene though). The amount of individual skill, teamwork, timing for pushes, use of grenades, etc etc requires so much more work than other FPS games. CS in general, is still by far the BEST FPS in my opinon.

CS:GO definitely has potential to reunite the divided community of CS 1.6/Source players. The mechanics are more based on 1.6, and I love the new game options (Competitive matchmaking).

The thing I don't like CS:GO as of now, is the slow/lack of updates. Hackers are not getting banned, when you reach a certain rank on CS:GO, there is bound to be hackers in each game. Also, I don't understand why valve refuses to put in competitive maps for competitive match making (removes the stupid fog, items, chickens, etc), and the lack of silencers. The team-killing banning system is a complete JOKE. How difficult is it to add a "forgive teammate option"? And not to mention, why isn't it possible to have a option to choose for different maps for "rematches"? There are tons of threads on the steam (CS:GO subforums) asking for changes/better updates, but Valve doesn't seem to care at all.

The truth is, the era of Counter-Strike is over. Nobody likes to play hard games (steep learning curve) anymore, there is no target market for CS. Kids these days only know what COD is.

If you lose by a huge blowout (ie 4-16) you are prone to deranking.

If you get lots of higher ranked opponents killed then you win the match you are prone to getting ranked up.

I've been playing a lot more ESEA (http://play.esea.net/?r=168641) than match making now a days. Skill level is up there and usually always play with eagles->ge so it's play/learn. Also Faceit partnered with CEVO and will be bringing their pugging services over to CEVO. Finally someone competing with ESEA.

Although at it's current state Faceit isn't on par with the skill level ESEA brings.

Can someone edumacate this noob on how people have all these nice customized weapons and why I'm stuck with shitty stock ones? I also find that I can't buy kevlar and helmet. Wasn't that something that was easily doable in CS 1.6 and CS:S?

Armor is still here. press B+4+1/2 for armor

and the custom weapons don't do shit. You can change between silent M4 and non silent M4 in loadout. and you can also change a few pistols

If you guys haven't watched any of the RoomOnFire (http://www.twitch.tv/roomonfire) streams I definitely recommend watching it. It's a twitch channel comprised of some really great casters like Anders and Semmler. They cast a lot of the pro games and are very knowledgeable about the game.

Why these bets?

Berzerk (Penta) - The odds are so skewed and they had a good showing against Na'Vi today. They probably won't beat LDLC who often don't choke against lower tier teams but the odds are good enough to throw away some cheap skins.

Na'Vi -Played quite a bit of games today and had a pretty tough time against the lower tier teams which include berzerk, mouz, and reason (i forget what their new name is). They're playing against Epsilon who has played exceptionally well for their past games. Epsilon has been the underdog for most of their matches and I have bet on them a lot and haven't lost a bet. After today's showing by Na'Vi I think they're going to have to pick it up and it's going to be against Epsilon. If they lose then they're in a really bad rut and I don't mind as I support Epsilon as a team and I think they'll go far. Just playing the odds on this one.

Titan - NiP is coming back from a vacation and they haven't really been playing a lot. Titan has been playing a lot and has been getting into really good form. Good odds as well for a bo1 upset so going to go with those.

I have watched a lot of streams commentated by Anders and Semmler, and I love them. They do a very good job at what they do.

As for the games, I think Epsilon has a very good chance at beating NaVi. They seem to be doing very well with their games. Not to mention that I have confidence in Shoxie!

NiP vs Titan - I think it's anyone's game here like it has been in the past. Did not know NiP was on vacation, so it might give Titan the upper hand.

I would usually go with Epsilon but I just feel like Na'Vi has to show up. Shoxie and fxy0 are amazing players and very clutch. Na'Vi did play well against VP yesterday so who knows maybe they only show up for the higher tier teams :P.

Word of betting advice: Don't bet against iBP or coL if they're up against other NA teams. They're on a different level and most likely will be the safest bets you can make :P

It all depends. It seems as though you can either get lucky or unlucky. A couple of my buddies actually just spent the money to buy the skin itself instead of trying to open cases which might be the best way to get the ones you want.

Seriously don't open any cases if you want to get something good. Take that key and use it to trade up. I opened about $350 worth of cases cause I wanted to open a knife but that didn't turn out so well :P I did get a couple weapons here and there but nothing that would cover my costs. A buddy has spent $700++ and has not even come close.

Looking into trading up if you want rare skins and items, it takes longer but it's worth it as there is a sure chance you'll get what you're looking for. Also never buy anything straight from the market, you can find better deals when using keys on csgolounge or on /r/globaloffensive trade.

I just recently started betting and have made a lot more profit than I do with trading. Trading takes a long time especially if you're looking at a 1-2 key return each trade. You get lucky and make more if you trade the right items.

Here's my chart and I just started betting about a week ago. I've made more profit than I have trading but it is a lot riskier. I take what I win and sell them for keys but keep some for other bets.

It's honestly not too much work, post a trade and wait pretty much. Just takes a bit longer.

And it's not just about sucking, the thing about silver and gold nova ranks is that you get trench level teammates, and even if you are better than them the chances of teamwork is low. I had my main and I was stuck on nova for a god damn long ass time, was hard to rank up, decided to buy a new account. First ten wins got placed into MG2, haven't dropped from there since (now badge).

But I was pretty confident as I usually mm'd with MG and MGEs.

10% Actual stats.

I believe, if you are 4-5 games up then you will be promoted. If you are 5-6 games down then you will probably be demoted.

Pretty bad system IMO, you can be dropping 50 bombs and lose the game and you still want be promoted.
