I would also prefer an evening draft time as well as I work on Saturdays. How bout have both RS1 and RSX draft on Sunday back to back? As I think most people don't work on Sundays. Just an idea.

Only issue with this is for those in both RS1 and RSX, that could mean as much as 2 hours in front of a computer depending on how long it takes ppl to draft.

Also some complaints last season on how goalies had too much importance, especially in a 18 team pool, some see it as not fair with some teams stuck with no good goalies, so if you didn't have 2 good goalies, you'd be screwed off the bat. We've already reduced goalie categories to 3 (W, GAA, SO), the next step could be only allowing 1 goalie roster spot per team. Thoughts?


RS Keeper: still need the following managers to renew by Thursday January 10th or lose their teams to new managers. Gary Oak, Invader, Bert you need to renew, multiple reminder emails have been sent via Yahoo, so far no response.


RS1: goo3, shawn79, Roach you must renew by Thursday January 10th or new managers will be slotted in. Email renews have been sent via Yahoo, so far no response.

Please note the following:
Keeper players will not display on team pages until after the draft is completed. Owners can see keeper assignments on the Rosters page under the "League" tab, or on the Draft Results page under the "Draft Central" tab.

Keeper players will automatically be selected into the draft slot assigned to them during the live draft and will not be available in the available player list.

If you use an odd number of keepers in your league, you will need to reverse the draft order. This will allow the team with the first overall pick to make the first selection when new players are drafted.

It's possible for commissioners to enter in a different amount of keepers for teams. The teams that have more keeper players entered will have fewer draft picks during the live draft, and vice versa.

I have to say, initially I was thinking reverse order of finish would be best, but you raise a really good point, winner gets nothing really, aside from RS bragging rights lol, so maybe random would be best. Also last year we had a few managers bascially give up after 2-3 months and not bother setting their rosters, similar to tanking.

Assuming Invader can get his yahoo account figured out, Bert and Gary Oak still have not responded and I will be giving away their teams to new managers tomorrow. The new manager will have to take over their team and pick keepers from that.

Definitely some interesting keeper players on the 2 managers teams that haven't responded yet. Seguin, Rinne, Kessel, Luongo, Sharp, Pavelski, Datsyuk and Green. We will need at least 2 replacement managers by tomorrow, league must have even # of teams in order to operate and draft as per Yahoo rules. If no replacement or only 1 willing person to take over, I will just have to delete the 2 teams and their players will re-enter the draft, which will be interesting as I can see Seguin and Datsyuk being potential #1 and #2 overall draft picks.

Man, that's tough. I feel bad for you having to make those decisions. I would keep Boyle for sure. No to Williams and Dupuis. So it's between Whitney and Perron for me. Well Whitney was old and small last year and he kicked ass. No reason to think he can't do it again. So I'll keep Boyle and Whitney.

My hardest decision wasn't even that hard. It was between the asshole Brad Marchand or Mike Ribeiro. I'm gonna go with Marchand cuz he gets alotta PIMS as well. You guys heard it here first, Ribeiro will be up for grabs in case anybody is interested. He's usually good for 60+ points a year. Might play with Ovie this year.....shit maybe I should keep him?

Goalie stats are stupid, we can introduce rules to force a 2game minimum for goalie stats to count, but when you want to make a challenge for players by throwing in hits/blocks/SoGs, the players stat columns get pretty heavily skewed

Standard goalie stats are Wins, Shutouts, GAA, SV% and GA, i find saves, shots against to be redundant,

so what is the opinion here to find a "balance" so that the importance of goalies are justified

I think there is a decent balance right now, with 7 skater categories (G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG) vs 3 goalie categories (W, GAA, SO) given that there are only a limited amount of quality starting goalies available and so many skaters, I find if we add more goalie categories, if a manager has only 1 starter he has no chance for the weekly matchup usually.

Honestly I'd wait until trade deadline and make a deal there. Kane is a solid asset.

If I was trading Kane away I'd want a solid stud back in return instead of 3 potential above average players. Stepan is second line center until Richards is gone and Voynov will get PP time with Doughty but Orlov would be the better choice. Orlov gets time on PP with Green and takes over for Green when he's injured I believe.. Don't know where Saad slots in on the team but with Kane, Toews, Hossa and Sharp ahead of him he's likely to get no PP time or prime offensive chances. As for Grigorenko, who knows where he'll slot in... Plays C but with Hodgson and Ennis there who knows where he's going to be.

I personally don't like trading a first line stud for 2-3 second line players (for the next 3-5 years). I base it on 3-5 years because any longer than that is too much risk for me but your league might be different.

Tough trade for sure. Don't take my advise seriously though, I've never played in a keeper league with more than 9 managers so it wasn't as deep.

I'm in a rebuild so, the move made sense to me. I also didn't get ripped in my pool for the trade, because people felt I got fair value. I like Justin Faulk, he could be top d pair for US in Sochi. He's played two 30+ minute games this season. Grigerenko will need to adjust to NHL and hopefully Lindy Ruff doesn't screw up his development like he has with Tyler Myers.

Stepan has been a disappointment, but he's getting top line minutes and playing with talents. He should get better.

And I have a good shot and landing Drouin who is going to be a stud in the NHL.

It came down to a Chris Neil 5 minute fighting major for me to win the league.

Crosby helped me rip it up in the earlier going. But when he went down it took some creativity and timely performances by key players to win!

Braden Holtby picking up his game and J Quick getting steady really secured the goaltender categories. I feel as if I should add "2013 RS-X Keeper pool champion" as part of my signature lol

Keepers League, aside from Grandmaster TSE who has indicated he is going to give up his team, HGH and invader also have not responded to renew their teams, I'll give them another week to respond before giving their spots away.

I've been receiving a number of PMs regarding draft times, the consensus seems to be no Friday, Saturday evenings, no weekday mornings-afternoons (most at work), not too late on a weekday past 8pm or draft will run late with all the rounds and majority have to get ready for a work day next day.

So as it stands, it would seem either a weekday early evening 7-8ish, Saturday early morning or Sunday early evening, keeping in mind RS1 and RS-X can't be at same time. So far from PMs, most are happy with the current draft time

The reasons it was done as above last year was it made yahoo randomizing and choosing draft positions quick and easy, otherwise draft positions would have to be manually edited each round.

There are about 4 managers in the Keeper pool that have not choosen their keeper players yet, I've moved the deadline to tomorrow, if these managers have not set their keepers by midnight tonight, I will use my best discretion to set their keepers for them, instead of them losing all their players into the draft.

As this pool isn't for money and just RS bragging rights, we're not going to factor in keeping or not keeping players drafted in certain rounds relating to forfeiting the corresponding draft pick round in the new season, its too much work manual editing of the draft positions.

My team just happened to turn it on at just the right time. I was able to stay in the middle of the pack in the 2nd half of the season with free agency pickups. I would just pick up whoever was hot, and drop who wasn't. I just ended up with a team of guys on hot playoff contending teams.

My big free agents were Marty Jones, Mats Zuccarello and Viktor Hedman. Hedman was insane this month. Jagr just keeps it going, I am amazed.

A few of my keepers finally panned out. Chara was shit most of the season but really good lately. Benn was good all season but absolutely on fire this month. Kopitar and Williams got good as the Kings started playing better.

Had a few Keeper busts though.. Burrows, Jimmy Howard, Mike Ribeiro.. ugh...

It'll be interesting to see who gets flagged as keepers.. Keeper busts can really kill your team IMO

Its a bit of a pain to go back and track were each individual player was originally picked and manually set draft picks, since this is just for fun and RS bragging rights and not $, going to just let it default for yahoo draft positions.
