It's so apparent and annoying. When our team plays elite or pro teams, we can score, pass and shoot fairly easy. Whenever we play an amateur team, none of our passes are connecting, we're fanning on all our shots, our goalie can't save a weak wrister/floater to save their lives. They really need to tune these spiderman ai goalies. They save all the high scoring chances but let the shitty weak shots in.

so true. Sometimes I always wonder how this "handicap" works. We've had games where we had the nicest setups, and nicest plays, but the goalie from some miracle, manages to save it, where as the other team, takes a weak ass shot and goes in with no effort of the goalie attempting to even save it. :fulloffuck:

I've come to the conclusion that this game is all about chance now and requires no skill anymore. You can have no team work at all and just loft weak wristers to the net which the goalie will have the hardest time saving and will produce a nice fat rebound right to the incoming attacker who will have a wide open net to shoot at. I refuse to play this type of garbage hockey. I guess I'm not like the other cheesers/cherry pickers that play this game just for a cheap win. They should just patch it so weak shots that produce rebounds go to the SIDE of the net not right in front of the net.

Don't even get me started on these faceoff spammers that should NEVER win a faceoff. EA's reason for not kicking/penalize these spammers out of the faceoff circle is because it will slow the game down. Trust me, if you're constantly spamming and get penalized, you're going to learn and stop. EA really needs to stop catering to "casual" fans. I don't think I've ever been so furious with an NHL game in my life. You can dominate teams in this game in every way but they'll come down and shoot a weak ass shot that has no possible chance of going in and your goalie will be handicapped and let it in. Really EA? Fix your shit! :devil:

I just bought a ps3, and got nhl13 as well
But i'm finding that the game is sorta choppy/laggy when i'm playing and this aint even online, it's offline!
is there anyway to make the game play load up a bit more smooth and faster?

i'm used to NHL12 on Xbox, so coming to ps3, it feels very slow in terms of reaction time and the graphics seem a little slow and not smooth.

Is there something I should adjust on my ps3 before i play this game?

Yeah that's what I miss about NHL 12, the BETTER team won. When you're a good team and you play amateurs in this game, the amateurs have the advantage, what fucked up kind of developing idea was that? :devil:

Will play when i get home and report back, I like that they tweaked the poke checking so those players that put nothing in those categories shouldn't be able to take the puck away from me. That's what their description is, lets see if it actually has any merit to it.

I actually think that the gameplay got quicker.

I noticed that I was able to skate through poke checkers as well. I literally skated forward through a man that poke check spammed the crap out of me but I didn't lose the puck at all. Guess they didn't put any attributes on their poke checking?:lol. My 90 poke checking still works good so I'm happy :fullofwin:

I like how they finally fixed the poke checking, it was ridiculously easy to poke or get poked ... it makes sense that your 90 stick checking is still good cause its 90 but I think everyone had it that they didn't bother putting anything on them cause it was broken.

I agree that the skating is better, my guy doesn't feel like a slug anymore and its made hitting so much easier now, my guy feels more like my NHL12 player again ...

• Users should no longer be able to adjust the gameplay sliders during a CPU game.

I love how goalies can't save weak shots but rob you on open nets or tap ins. There really is no reason to play proper hockey in this game, just skate up and launch a weak shot that will produce a huge rebound and get your garbage goal.....

That shot doesn't go in 100%, goalies save them quite abit. But yeah I agree, the go to move is the forehand backhand once you're spring from the side. I still like cutting to the slot and roofing it the opposite direction, works really well on guys that try to hit you :fullofwin:

I agree, there's not enough players active in the RS GMC, I can't even remember when the last sim was ... but I have about 3 trades pending, and all my games right now are against CPU teams which is boring ... BUT then again I already expected the RS league to be a really casual, chill league just to play some games in spare time so it's no big deal ... although all my NHLing time has been taken up by another GMC league.

bomboi1, give Jmac a shout, he's running a super professional GMC (IMO the best league in on NHL13 right now) ... super organized, sims are advanced on the dot every 48 hours. Always 30 active (and damn good) players for every team. Crazy negotiations for trades all the time. I am the current GM of Anaheim right now. We are in Season 2.

I regularly play best of series against top teams (not a brag post, but I've been a top 6's player since 09' and have been playing with/against top 6's teams the past 2.5 years). The series against teams where the games are close are the most fun, because then you're not only relying on skill, but as the series wears on, it becomes a battle of wits when you're trying to learn each other's set plays/tendencies and counter them.

Here's the breakdown of my RW again since some of you guys asked. I use two way players because I want to be balanced on offense and defense. I don't want to be a grinder and just rely on speed.

Key places to put attribute points

Strength - This is probably the most overlooked category. Strength does many things, helps with your shot power, body checking and resistance to body checks. If you look at my wrist and slap shot power, they aren't high at all but this modifies them and makes my shot much more stronger. Mines maxed out with a +5 boost

Endurance - This is really important this year especially since people load up their speed. Gotta make sure that your guy can handle skating for long periods of time without getting tired. Mines maxed out with a +5 boost

Offensive awareness - This gives you the ability to puck up loose pucks on the offensive zone that are just laying there before others, helps a lot especially when there's rebounds. Also assists with the accuracy of your shot. The majority of my goals come off breakaways and slot shots cutting across then roofing it the opposite direction. Mines maxed out with a +5 boost

Defensive awareness - This gives you the ability to puck up loose pucks on the defensive zone that are just laying there before others. I believe it also helps with your poke checking. They say that it also helps you when players are trying to dangle you. I rarely get dangled by guys when I back check. Mines maxed out with a +5 boost

Like I said, modem is fucked. Happens at least once a year, Shaw sends a tech, tech says oh it's the splitter, replaces the splitter, doesn't fix anything, Shaw sends another tech, replaces the modem, works fine for another 6-12 months, rinse and repeat.

I'm guessing it's the cable wiring in my apartment building, but Shaw's not going to replace all of that (48 units). In the mean time, a new modem band-aids the problem for up to a year, I just hate the whole song and dance Shaw makes me go through to get one. Like I said, this time of the year, I'm hoping a buddy can just swing a new modem for me without waiting for a tech to come and not fix the problem.

The ice tilting in this game is fucking horrible. We lost to the same scrub team twice. The first one was in OT. When we met up with them at the matchup screen, they even said "I have no clue how we won that game, you guys were dominating us but just couldn't finish" Their goalie was stonewalling us. The 2nd game we played against them, practically every shot they threw at the net went in. Unscreened blueline shots with noone in sight go in clean through the goalies pads and huge rebounds on weak backhand shots. Yet I'm missing the net point blank on a breakaway. I'm money on breakaways. This game really pisses me off sometimes. I'm really contemplating not buying NHL 14 because it doesn't take skill to win anymore, you just need to be a very low ranking team and loft any kind of shot to the net.

Like I said, they're around 2 points per game. If you're averaging 2 points per game, you're either really good or you refuse to play good teams (i.e. scrub hunting). Clearly they're the latter.

Naw mayne. I never really liked playoffs cause you play any team in any division.. seems pretty pointless. This was like the second playoffs I played all year and we lost in the finals by a goal lol. I know what you mean by those weak goals, I hate playing with a computer goalie because of it

EASHL > GMC

Nothing is more satisfying than have a group of 6 guys that play their position and as a unit. Goals and assists are the least worries of the team as long as they win. That's why I love playing EASHL :fullofwin:

EASHL is only fun cuz you spent like a billion hours (or real money) souping up your guy.
Everyone in EASHL is like 90+ rating, bunch of Gretzky's running around ... I'm like still Rookie Level 3 or something ... probably get demolished lol ...

GMC has a ton of bugs to work out but as a first-year format it's pretty good, especially in a well-organized active 30 human controlled league. It's crazy!

BTW I played TRD's AI in the RS GMC but I think I injured one of his dudes so his roster is messed up, TRD did you want to play tonight?

Most guys in EASHL are like 70-something OVR. My guy is Legend 2 and he's 73 OVR.

They reduced the levels you can get to. Defense is a lot more important than it used to be.

I changed my players type from TWF rated 80 to Grinder rated 77. I have 5 more attribute points on speed which it totally more helpful IMO

Rs league simming for 3 days on feb 23rd, giving the remaining teams to play their opponents, because EA will delete league if I don't.. Respective GMs are being booted except for iceaj, trd, obsideon, and those that have played their games and msged me.

For me, I need a minimum of 85 agility and 88 endurance for all player types. I like making tight turns. I see that you don't max out your discipline? I hear it reduces the chances of getting penalties eh.
