Yourself and a lot of the others here might, but the general population is a bunch of cheap fucks who don't understand anything about technology. Everyone bitched about how much the PS3 cost compared to the 360, even though the PS3 came with more features and the base 360 was basically a castrated console.

I honestly don't give a fuck if they cheap out a bit on parts that don't matter like the case, hell even the HDMI port doesn't get unplugged very often in most cases. IMO Sony has usually been ahead of the curve when it comes to their hardware so I'll wait til the XB1 launches to see how the quality compares.

Either way, so long as neither of them burn someones house down or have a 25% failure rate they'll be ahead of the 360.

Going on an off topic tangent here (sorry guys) but I've always found Sony is willing to charge more because people think that their products are worth the premium. I used to be a big Sony fan (and I do still buy some of their products) but the quality just isn't worth the extra cost when it comes to a lot of their linups. I currently own a very expensive Sony prosumer film camera and, in hindsight, it was one of the worst purchases I've made in the recent past. It was a spur-of-the-moment, necessary purchase at the time to replace an older camera, but looking back I paid about $3000 more for this thing than I should have, and it came with fewer options than it's Canon, Panasonic and RED alternatives.

All that said, for a piece of equipment that will sit on your shelf and will likely only be touched when you first hook it up and never again, who cares if the HDMI port is a little flimsy or the case isn't made of a single piece of brushed aluminium. I'll still buy one eventually, though I'll have to wait until I can bring it to a friends place who has better download speeds than I. :lol

ya must be faulty hdmi

the ps4 will ring up blue light until it turns white when it finally detects signal from hdmi to tv.... from the kotaku video, they would boot up the ps4 and it will go into blue light, blink couple of times then turns off on itself..

Ifixit has given a warning that the hdmi port is indeed shoddy so careful for those hooking it up

Yeah the remote is really comfortable, doesn't feel big and clunky like i thought it would.

Im loving the system and Killzone so far, I have not experienced any loading, other than installing the game which took literally 15 seconds. The system is soooo fast. Everything is fluid. I'm looking forward to the next update when they slowly roll out the other features.

Gonna hold off on buying the camera, the voice commands aren't worth it so far.

And I was able to log on and set up PSN. :)

if u use too big of a usb(physically), it will not fit into the usb slots because of how the slot is recessed in from the front

FIFA 14 is dope, it's not a simple port and roster update like they usually do, so it plays and looks a lot better, definitely don't wait because there's nothing to wait for, the future of sports gaming is literally here, and it's just the beginning.

Don't probably that shit, you go on and do it, I only play sports titles on consoles so I picked up Fifa and 2K myself, but like I told the guy above about Fifa, 2K14 is done on a new graphics/physics engine and it feels so fckin fresh, like this is the game basketball fans been waiting for all this time. I've only gotten to play a little bit of the two games since I just picked up the console this morning, but damn is all I can say, it's a lot different than that jump from that last "next-gen" leap we took back in 2006 with the PS3 and 360's because all those games were literally spiced up ports from the PS2 and Xbox so there wasn't much of a difference.

hey guys, most of you probably already know but some who dont.... check your damn TV settings, the display ones specifically, because they WILL fuck up your framerate....

I had one of those generic preset picture options set on my samsung LED and the game was running at only 30fps, I went in and adjusted the Picture Options and turned off Auto Motion Plus to OFF, now it's back to being smooth as silk 60fps....
I don't know the specific menu options on other brands, but it should be somewhat similar.

I wonder if its something to do with an internal component getting loose or breaking. Likewise, I've ordered a hand full of things from Amazon before from Blurays to books, to a life size Lancer Gun from Gears of War. All came with heavy packaging.

As for the way it's shipped that's also how futureshop and bestbuy shipped theirs, a giant box with some paper filling on one side of the box only. but since they were shipped out from Richmond there wasn't really any chance for damage

Yes, it's the only game where the $20 off applies. Looks like you can do 3 separate orders and get $20 off each order before Amazon stops the deal.

Side note, has anyone found that the controllers battery drains pretty quickly. I've gone down to 1 bar of battery twice now both times starting from fully charged. I don't have any measurements in time but I really haven't gamed too much yet imo, 10 hours tops.

ya i think the max average battery life is 7 to 8 hours for me

picked up the camera, the most you will be spending your time in the playroom is 20 mins or so, just a tech demo of what it can do.. unlike the kinect on xbox360 where it has a motor to adjust from the tv to find your face, the ps camera doesnt, you have to manually move it to coordinate where you want it facing
its mostly good for people broadcasting themselves on twitch/ustream..

so looks like BF4 might not get properly fix until early next week when they release the patch..

I have a hard wired connection to the PS4, the only time I had trouble logging onto PSN was during the initial setup, but now everything is smooth, no issues. For those having issues, try hard wiring if its an option for now.

They're not going to release a shit load at once. They're going week by week and probably ramp it up in early Dec.

So far it's about a million sold and a Sony exec recently said by Jan 2014 he expects 3-4 million sold. The whole point of releasing it in Nov is to take advantage of the holiday season.

Totally digging the fact that I can just plug any headphones into my controller and have the audio go through there instead of the TV. No need for adaptors or anything. Now I just need to get some better headphones. Currently just using the apple earbuds lol.

PLaying COD and Killzone so far. Not really digging Killzone that much and will probably be done with it soon. Good thing BB is offering $40 trade in until Jan for this.

why hunt for a made in japan unit? chances are all units in north america will be made in china as we have the NTSC system and europe have the PAL system so it would make sense if all the japan ones are PAL and all the china ones are NTSC for the moment.. and once stock demand decreases it'll be strictly made in china again.

That only applies when they actually make a cheaper version using cheaper parts. The PS4 will use the same parts no matter where it's made. The country where the assembly itself took place is relatively meaningless.

I agree for some things that need precise assembly.. cameras, watches, etc. But with a PS4 it shouldn't matter.
