I'd say these are more likely religious types (based on the use of the word immoral) and, while some anti-vaxxers fit that demographic, I'd say more are liberal-leaning atheists (which tend to support LGBTQ rights).
I recall a while ago, I had a conversation with a man in his late 30s who has a family(we were working at a driving job). He is not crazy or anything, and is actually a very friendly person who also has a passion for cars. He told me that if your boy comes home and says "I want to be a girl", you are not allowed to say no, or your kid will be taken away. That's pretty fucked IMO. He then told me that there was a boy who actually underwent a sex change because of that and he regretted it later. Not sure if that's true. There is a reason why we have parental consents for children. They are too young to make less important decisions, let alone a decision that will severely change their lives.
You can have people respect the different sexualities, but aggressively shoving it down people's throat is not okay.
God forbid they should teach something useless like academics. What a silly concept that would be.
Grade 2 is the perfect age to learn about sexual orientation/identity. Screw those crazy right wing religious fanatics.
We should all aspire to be like those who give their prepubescent child hormone blockers.

If learning about sexual orientation is as simple as saying male can like male, etc, sure but if its about sexual education like showing naked bodies and images of penis in a vagina, I think grade 2 is not the perfect age at all. Maybe grade 4 or 5.

- I am not religious, so won't be making religious arguments. They also tend to be very poor arguments anyway.
- I have LGBT friends and I treat them just like everyone else. I even went to the Pride parade in Vancouver when I first came to Canada, so I don't discriminate against anyone.
Also with a divorce rate of 53% in the states, I don't think the nuclear fail is doing too well.
We do, and I am assuming that most people here are old enough to take it seriously.
Again, my main point, to put bluntly, is that kids don't know shit, and they joke about a lot of things. That's why we have parental consents, because their decision-making ability is not there yet.
What my former workmate described is like something out of a distopian novel. Imagine you are a parent and your kid does that to you as a "harmless" joke. What do you do?
And I am not sure what the current curriculum is like. I do wish that something important like this is talked about later, maybe Grade 5 or up.
Also to note, I initially saw this movement in WeChat friend circle. It was posted by one of my previous landlords who has 2 kids, one of them js in primary school. She is Chinese, and a lot of older Chinese people tend to be very conservative. They don't really accept LGBT.
Starting in the 2018-2019 school year, Texas students will no longer be required to evaluate evolution and creationism. Now they're just going to have to compare and contrast. That may not seem like much, but crazily enough the decision represents real progress.

they're not protesting sex ed in general. they're protesting the new curriculum. and likely the ages this new curriculum is being taught, from what i gather
