I still have the inaugural yearbook from that game. I used to go see them play when they were still in the Western Hockey League.

Really, I thought Miller and Pearson were quite noticeable, Miller was digging pucks out along the boards and he set up the play that led to the Myers shot/Pearson tip-in. He won some faceoffs too at important times.

We ended up losing both of them in a calendar year.

Getting Horvat out of it and Schneider having injury woes over much of the time since the trade certainly makes it look substantially better for us, but judging trades via hindsight is bad practice.

For me, Demko looking more comfortable out there is the biggest positive. It would be great for him to challenge Markstrom for the number one spot at some point this season.

Ya.. the puck rolled on him at the last second it looked like. Demko was a STUD last night and showed fantastic poise in the shootout.

I did think St. Louis exposed Vancouver though on their defensive play when the game opened up - many odd man rushes for St. Louis where they continuously hit F3 or the Dman entering the zone off the rush for high quality scoring chances.

Agreed! That was a gutsy win. Wasn't the prettiest but they always played like they could come back and win it whereas our teams in the past would just give up when they're getting outscored.

I was thinking of getting the bandwagon ready, but thought, wait a few more games. Then, New Jersey game, I was like............ nah.

Hitching up the wagon and borrowing the hawses.......... a lot of work.

Canuck luck. Injuries, players sleeping with other players' spouse/gf/boyfriend, etc. Anything can happen, even with all the pieces of the puzzle there and firing on all cylinders. Seen it all before. I'm not holding my breath. Cautious optimism.

Having said that, most of the players on this year's team are young and seem to be a pretty good bunch of guys. Every team has a shit disturber or two, but I don't see that on this year's team.


Any chance we can get a new owner? He seems to have stayed away from ruining the team this year, so far, but he can always do something stupid. Create a rift between people is his forte, it seems.

I think it was probably because Myers pinched on the empty net (because reasons?) and a Rangers player was clearly interfering with him behind the net when the Rangers were rushing back up the ice.

Ferland and Jake should get first line line PP opportunities now IMO. If those two get going as physically and offensively as they’re capable of, the Canucks are a much different team.

Speaking of Ferland, he has been disappointing so far overall and tbh I wasn’t thrilled with his contract but if him being here forces Jake to elevate his game, it could be worth every penny.

Virtanen has so much potential... it would be so awesome to see him stop playing afraid and become a man amongst boys again. He’s not there yet but isn’t a kid anymore and seems more comfortable mixing it up out there. If does happen, watch out. Let’s just hope he’s in a Canucks uni if/when the time comes.
