I was scared shitless during the test ride... this is actually my first ever bike (I just did PRS last week)... I know I know... you shouldnt start on a 600CC sport bike...

3 of my friends started riding on...
-R6 as first bike
-Gixxer600 as first bike
-848 as first bike

But yes, for the whole duration of the test ride my head was like (HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT upshift upshift upshift) looks down... I only revved to like 4000rpm on 5-10% throttle lolol....I think I got up to 70km in 3rd, never went into 4th or 5th during the test ride lool....

After getting insurance...

Gonna wait for clear Saturdays early mornings and find a deserted area and just try to get the basics down (so different from the PRS learner bikes)...

Anyone can die on any bike, it’s up to you to be safe and know restraint. This is more bike that 90% of riders can handle or take full advantage of, so just be respectful to the engineering and you should be fine

I took it for a quick rip around the neighborhood when I got it home, and the first time I opened her up it almost bucked me off the back; I definitely didn’t expect that kind of acceleration after riding my little enduro or even my cruiser. And this is an fz-07...an extra 200cc would be crazy!

Oh yeah the MT09 was insane. I rode a CBR1000RR for a few months before I bought the MT09 and while the CBR obviously would have been faster, the MT had so much more torque it would try to go over backwards in 4th gear at highway speeds. It honestly got old quickly as you had to position yourself so carefully and even if you were up on the bars when you shifted 2nd to third it would try to dump you backwards at 100mph.

It was a bike that NEEDED electronics to ride safely, and mine had no traction control no abs, no wheelie control, not a single electronic. Sketchy as fuck.

Overall the condition is good, I've been looking for a 318/325is for a long time and this is the best out of all the ones I looked at. The problem I've found with buying an e30 is that when you find one you like, that looks and drives decent, you need to pull the trigger. I responded to the cl ad 21 minutes after it was posted and he had over 150 emails that night, multiple offers well over asking, some guys were offering to pay out my deposit and then some. He was kicking himself for not asking more but lucky for me I got my deposit in first and he was an honest guy.
With the car being on the island, and my work schedule I felt that there wasn't any time for a PPI. So the car feels good but compared to my e91 I don't really enjoy driving it... yet. Funny enough I'm taking it in for a PPI next Friday (Post Purchase Inspection) and I've already placed an order on a bunch of parts.
My initial impression is: As much as I've lusted over this car, now having it and driving it I think I'm getting older and maybe looking for different things out of cars. I also have an AE86 that needs work to get it back on the road so there's a good chance I give up on my dream of having an e30 as a weekend car. We'll see.

e30's are heartbreakers. I've tried twice, and both times have been burned by hidden damage and rust.

Both times I bought in the heat of the moment. First time we jumped on a ferry the next day, raced to port alberni, bought it in the rain behind an HA clubhouse in about 10 minutes and raced back to the ferry. Ultimately that car hid all kinds of body issues (though in retrospect not as bad as I found out they could be)

Didn't learn lesson

Second one I bought, seller posted locally and too cheap. I won the race to the car because it was almost around the corner from me. Again basically bought it sight unseen, and this time it was even worse. Absolutely rotten behind the fenders.

Never again - if I ever own another E30, it will have been thoroughly inspected on a lift, by a pro, without the big rush. I'll also happily pay a premium for a sorted one. The buy in price is peanuts compared to a body restoration.

None of this has anything to do with your car, it looked to be in great shape, it's just my rant about what the "market" (especially IS cars) has done to the buying experience for these cars. the FOMO is real.

You probably know my brother ae86envy. If you're into that market too, you know it's exactly the same.

Yes, this one has a 3-spoke steering wheel.

Did a PPI on it just to be on the safe side and engine his 175psi across all four cylinders. The only real issue on this particular car was the drivebelt had to be replaced before it snapped and the front left shock was leaking oil. Otherwise, it was solid all around.

Yeah, not a lot of details on them yet as they came out in late January. Continental claims a 10% improvement in wet and snow conditions (https://www.tirereview.com/continental-debuts-new-extremecontact-dws06-plus/). Mostly seems a half update forced by the competition as Michelin, Goodyear, BFGoodrich, and Bridgestone all had really competitive tires in this class.

I've run the DWS and DWS06 on my TSX and have always been happy with them - they're usually 2-3lbs lighter than the competition which I like as well.

Maybe? I've run the DWS and DWS 06 and never found them sufficient for what I'd want in snowy conditions. They're ok but I like the security of real winters though I run performance winters and not full winters (like a Blizzak or X-Ice). I'll see how these hold up late into the year though, maybe there's a chance to sell my winters out of this.

I never found the DWS06 to be too amazing. It's good enough to not get stuck but wasn't confidence inspiring when trying to stop on Vancouver snow(that wet heavy slushy stuff).

Do it man! The TLX (new one?) looks great with 20" wheels.

I'm really happy with how they turned out - the 9.5" width really fills the wheel wells nicely (I'm also lowered) - was aiming for the muscular look of a BMW sedan. Here's a shot from another angle with slightly better lighting (still shitty cloudy weather):

I'm on Eibach Pro-kit springs which are 1.5"/1.2" lower than stock. Some SUVs look great lowered - the Q5 is awesome, looks like a jumbo hot hatch when lowered.

The ride quality is still pretty decent - it's a little short on suspension travel when going over choppy speed bumps and larger bumps but otherwise adds a nice crispness to things. Roll stiffness does get a bit exaggerated - feels like the roll bars have gotten a lot stiffer now, maybe it needs shorter links to compensate.

BMWs do both sides by default. My E90 does the same. All it is is removing the tabs preventing the “blank” switch underneath front fogs from being depressed. Once the switch is modded both side rear fogs just work.

The button exists on all e90s but it doesn't have the graphic on it for rear fogs and there is no plastic piece on the inside that activates the switch. Typically people use some Lego pieces in the shape of a T to make the toggle work. I did this with mine too but ended up just buying the euro light switch afterwards which includes the button with graphic.

I've managed to get a few MR2's together over the years and drive down to LA for Toyotafest. From my experience it takes lots of notice, and then doing it year after year gets more people interested and talking about it and then more join in.

I was ready for some zombie Covid apocalypse to come out while I ran around lighting the scene. It was so peaceful and silent. Just like before any storm. I had some freaky thoughts last night. [emoji23]

My family has owned no warrantied BMWs for over 2 decades. We’ve been fine. We have amazing friends who are smarter than us for when we can’t figure it out. It took me two months to learn this diesel engine but now that I’ve had personal experience on how to fix the major problems and why they break, this car doesn’t scare me as much as things that go bump in the dark. Im biased to the Z4 as it had a power roof, trunk space, and does not have squeeks and rattles like the Sky. If your gonna spend 10-20k, just get a Z4. Sky turbo does not get old tho :megusta:

So I had an amazing opportunity and kinda traded in my regular non plug-in ioniq for a prius prime.

Essentially the same monthly payment ($7.00 more than before), but insurance went from $271 to $193 a month (I assume mostly due to the insurance cut anyways, but also the autonomous braking system??)

Pretty much the same equipment
- lost the sunroof
- lost some luggage space
- lost rear heated seat (but rear is taken by 2 car seats anyways...)
- lost android auto (but we used it twice in the 2 years we had the ioniq... just the 1st gen where it needs to be plugged in is too much of a hassel, we just bluetooth stream music...)
- gain adaptive cruise/lane keep assist (the good one that can also drop to 0km/hr in stop and go traffic on the hwy)
- gain leather seating
- gain autonomous braking system
- gain wireless charging for the phone
- gain bult-in navigation (not sure when we will ever need that loool)
- gain toyota reliability and re-sale value (though I never keep cars long enough to find out about bad reliability)
- most importantly.. gain the ability to plug-in hahahaha

And wife drives way less than 40km a day so... hopefully that means we shouldn't need to fuel up for a looooooooooong time (probably even using gas on purpose before it gets too stale in the tank)....

Honestly I wasn't car shopping at all, I wasn't in the market for a new car. I was planning to keep the Ioniq long term.

This whole thing started when I helped my younger brother in law pick up a 4runner, then my parents wanted a RAV4 Hybrid, and then my older brother in law picked up a prime.... and during going to the dealership for like 8Xs over the last 3 weeks. And making all 3 sales. (you know how it goes, even though there was no language barrier, everyone is like.. OH buying new car? better call up the "car guy" in the extended family... guuuhhh)

The sales approached me about my payments on the Ioniq, and said let him massage the numbers and he can make the Prime cheaper.

So yes, my family bought 4 cars from the same sales over a span of 3 weeks...

Ultimately I lost 2 years worth of finance payments haha (i guess i will treat it like a lease?), somehow my payments was on par with the deprieciation so I wasn't upside down for the trade in. On top of that he knocked another $2600 from the msrp toyota.ca, cancelled the document fees, but still charged the $1950 PDI @.@

Finance I did it thru scotiabank, 1.99% APR over a stupendous long term lol...

And was $0 down....

End result being
- brand new car with new warranty
- monthly payment went up by $7.81
- but insurance went down by $78.00
- and I assume my $40.00/mth gas bill will be reduced to >$10.00/mth

So.. the sales didnt lie, my monthly running cost for the baby carrier did go down (not counting the 10K I've already sunken into the ioniq finance payments lol)

I'm going to guess the wheel covers add some kind of aero efficiency, but god damn they are ugly.

The CF hatch though is awesome. I generally like the front and back of the Prime, but yes Hondaracer, the side profile sucks. Some bigger wheels would help, but that would defeat the purpose of the car.
