Running joke with my non-car friends is I have THE best car to pick up the 50-60 year old man. I generally get a thumbs up or something when driving it, but man whenever a buddy is in the car it attracts the middle aged man like no ones business. They just swarm. Haha.

Not sure my plans for the car yet, but beater M3 for 6K. Not bad, 300K km, rebuilt head, cosmetically rough, tach doesn't work so I shift by hearing LOL. Defs need to sort that out and defs need to get some proper suspension. It's at max height on raceland coils, which surprisingly ride well, but its still slammed.

Dodge dealer towards a new 1500 ram

They originally offered 11 for the G37, one owner full maintenance records etc. It had 115k on it. So family friend phoned me up and asks if I’m interested in it as he’d rather sell it to Somone at the dealer cost than trade it in. I say sure fuck sounds like a deal

When he went back to dodge and told them he was gonna sell privately they incrementally increased the value until I finally said I’ll pay this and no more and dodge did the same. So I ended up still buying the car but the sack of shit dodge sales guy basically cost me $2500 more than the initial cost.

Still a deal but not a smoking one that the original trade in would have been

So far I've never heard of or ever remotely been offered a reasonable trade that I will take on. Dealers only offer insulting trades.

Destination Toyota is the only dealer to have ever have given me more than fair trade value. It was s 2014 Tacoma, then they also gave me a discount on a new 2020 Tacoma.

After a bit of coding you can make the headlights do anything the Euro's get to enjoy. :shhh:

My dad's '14 535d has adaptive variable LEDs which all move independently of each other as well as a shutter for more extreme light control that moves as the camera tracks cars taillights or headlights in front. You can see in the fog, it was very easy to see the high beams stay on around the car in front without shining any excess light into their face. It also moves the high beam for oncoming and continues to track them too. Such an advanced system that is such a joy to use as it reacts faster than I can easily, since the camera system is higher than my eye level.

One drawback is in the rain which you should not use this function as high light will glare against the wet pavement and/or wet side concrete medians which is dangerous for those ahead. It's simple to defeat this system and revert to normal auto-high beams by turning on the fogs or manually hitting the "all-the-time high beams" switch to off. That's probably one thing most NA drivers are not fast enough to think about until it's too late which is why it's probably not turned on for cars on this continent. Seeing when I drive at night I often see cars with just their DRLs on and not headlights, thus no taillights because their speedo is always lit up.

I did back in August. Turned out it needed two sensors (CPS & ECT). Then shortly after it needed an 02 sensor, two fuses and one relay.

All good now. Nothing serious though a good reminder that low km / barely driven old cars can summon gremlins.

It's an amazing package for the price and the long-term data has shown how reliable it is with some simple to moderate DIYs as it needs to be tank-built to handle 40+ psi of boost when modded hard.

Malone has transformed the car into a wolf in sheep's clothing. When you look at the price they charge, it's not like you could pay that amount for most engine mods and get such a high return on reliable/quality power.

You can probably tell I'm still stuck in the golden era JDM 90s. Back then my favorite car and style would be a Veilside'd body Supra, I liked how they almost completely transformed the car and had their own iconic badging. I find it really weird on my cars that after I change out the bumper there usually isn't a spot for a badge (I love how the VS and other brands have sometimes), and putting a Honda or Toyota badge on it just kinda weirds me out. So I usually get really obscure or custom badges to put on it to fuck with people that don't know what car it is.

I have this old Do-Luck emblem on my old NSX and I've had people ask me what car it is and a couple of comment thinking it's a Porsche (must be the shield thing)

Also... a bonus cause Honda and Tesla drivers have a notoriously bad rep here in Hong Kong. I get asked a lot to this day even by my neighbours here what car it is. I usually just reply them "Just a modded Honda" though, that actually surprises a lot of people.

I'll wait for any rebates that may come out later in the year. I almost bought one last year and Toyota had a $4,000 cash rebate. Perhaps not likely this year due to all the production shortages though. We'll see.

I'll certainly wait until the official next generation announcement but I'm not excited for anything turbo. There were rumors of a hybrid attachment onto the 5.7L V8 but I don't see that materializing. I'd like the get the final year of the current generation anyway since, as with my 4Runner, it's the archaic nature of the vehicle that I prefer. At least they hold their value decently so if we decided to swap for the new gen in a few years we wouldn't lose our shirt.

How do you get from an Atlas (I think?) to a Tundra? Ride quality and ... well everything is totally different.

Maybe a Taco.. or a 4runner would be a better fit? Even then, the interior is not going to be up to the VW.

I have my 4runner coming in at the end of the month, so I love this shit. But I also would have kept my defender if it wasn't giving my wife panic attacks while she drove it.

How do you get from an Atlas (I think?) to a Tundra? Ride quality and ... well everything is totally different.

Maybe a Taco.. or a 4runner would be a better fit? Even then, the interior is not going to be up to the VW.

I have my 4runner coming in at the end of the month, so I love this shit. But I also would have kept my defender if it wasn't giving my wife panic attacks while she drove it.

And that is exactly where we are at. We need a truck for horse stuff, better for camping, and a bit of towing, and while my 4Runner and her Atlas can tow, it's not ideal. In a normal relationship I would be the one to have the truck and she keep her Atlas and we trade off when needed. But, I don't want a truck, or an Atlas; I want her to have a truck. Lol! She feels that if she is taking a hit in comfort, at least she's got her V8 truck, so it's justified. With the 4Runner, it has less cargo space, less passenger room, feels like a top-heavy boat with no power, tows the same as the Atlas, and only seats five; and still drives like a truck. I am constantly reminded how my vehicle choice is destroying our family. I'm also trying to put a second car in the garage so all around this isn't a good look for me. Lol! Anyone want a 4Runner?

In the half ton truck class, the Tundra is arguably the least comfortable and has the worst fuel mileage. But......Toyota, right? Anything Sierra/Ram/F150 is going to be the $80k+ range to get what we want and I'm not sure we want to spend that much. At that point might as well just spend $90k plus a bit and get a 3500 diesel.

I've gotten a ride in the Atlas, the interior is pretty bad on it, molding flash everywhere, noisy.... Maybe they've gotten better since the beginning, imo the only thing good was the price to size ratio.

The largest factor in our decision making. The 2021 refresh is nice over the 2018/2019 model years but you are mostly right on your analysis. Better fit/finish over domestic offerings but being under powered would be its biggest downfall.

Do the jdm odyssey have any transmission issues? Still worried that they come from that bad era. And the jdm integrated climate navi cluster must be a bitch to use? Doesn't seem like you can swap out easily.

These guys are K24 powered.

I think left turns on JDM is ok as long as it's not a sports car, most regular height cars you can see pretty far ahead over the cars in front. And parallel parking is much easier too. Only thing is I still get the wipers and turn signals mixed up due to habit and swapping between rhd lhd

Will definitely be doing a big safety check and inspection before I cross into Mexico. Honestly might not even do it, biggest concern is bringing the Taco down might be too flashy. I have a few friends that have done it and said it's fine but they were also driving beat up vans. My cat and I will make that decision when time comes.

If I can fit 255s in the rear and 235s up front without too much work, I'll throw on my bronze Volk ZE40s that I've waited over a year to put on. I purchased it for the 330. Then, hoped to be able to put it on the E46 M3. I'm looking forward to actually to be able to put it on this M3, wrapped in my Hankook RS4s.

Still not sure my plans for the car, but track set up would probably be 17x9 ARC8s

these cars love square setups. You can run definitely run 235's up front (i used to). Trouble is it's an in between tire size and harder to get now. 255's might need a bit of fender work depending on offset, but this car is rolled already isn't it?

oh i forgot to specify specs on the ZE40s. 18x8.5 +30 and 18x9.5+40. Yeah BMWs drive better on square.

I believe the car is rolled. But depending on budget and how far I want to / how I want to build the car, I might have to commit a few purist sins.

The fenders are pretty messed up as it. So I'm thinking:
1. Track build, janky - cut the fenders slap on overfenders
2. Track build, clean - run carbon fiber fenders and get it painted/wrapped.
3. Street build, clean - get the fenders cleaned up and get a full respray done to Oxford Green. (and maybe kswap for lols)

me either. i remember shopping for one new in 2008 when i wrecked my mazda3. I honestly thought they were all spec'd the same.

this seems to be a GS - meaning it doesn't have any of the junk I don't want anyways, except maybe HID's but who cares. Still has the big wheels, still has fogs, still has the stereo.

bad weather for getting to know it. My brother has introduced it to it's first tank of pre-mix :fuckyea: See how it likes it. Hopefully will get some seat time next week.

Bought a new truck. Dirty AF, but 2021 F150 Platinum FX4. Waiting for the suspension, wheels and tires to show up so rocking a stock truck for now.

Good looking truck.

I’m kinda torn on this new body style, I came across a white lariat with the FX4 package and all the highlights like the fender model designation thing, the back emblems, etc. Were all just black plastic..looked like it should have been the XLT over the lariat.

Nice to see the platinum at least is chrome everything

I've notice a lot of my car friends are getting into wheeling/trucks now. It's great but also stressing the importance of how dangerous it could be driving on an FSR. On the way back from East Harrison this past Sunday, we got halted around 25km as RCMP and SAR had found the wreck and body from an incident that happened the night before.

Anyways, took a buddy that just recently got 3rd gen 4runner out for a day trip.

The new F150 is nice, I think the Tremor trim that is coming out in the summer looks badass. Pricing is crazy though, when I compare the features my 2014 FX4 has compared to what it would cost to get something similar now it's like over 20k more now even with discounts.

That Platinum is baller though lol

Truck prices are insane right now. A buddy of mine is friends with some service manager at a Ford dealer and he said the regular inventory of 100+ trucks is now 20 because they are all getting sent south.

Disheartening considering I’m kinda in the market :/

Just last year was ATV'ing with my buddy. Pulled around a corner and saw a young (10-13) girl laying on the ground with a guy just standing over her. Me and buddy pulled over and found the girl had flipped her ATV and it rolled over her and then into the ditch. The guy standing there was a bystandard who stayed at the scene while his buddy drove to an area with reception to contact emergency authorities. We literally showed up within 5mins of the incident and I could tell you the amount of time it took for any form of service was quite some time. It took 15-20mins for the bystanders buddy to locate/contact a conservation officer who then showed up, then they called in the ambulance which took another 20 or so minutes. Then you could hear the air ambulance on its way in. but there was no where for it to land so that was another delay. It nice to be free out on FSR's but you still got to be safe and be prepared.
