LS400 is extremely basic by today’s luxury car standards. What it has in spades is the smoothest engine you’ve ever experienced and things most people probably would never notice like instant ice cold A/C even on a hot day.

I had 2 of them a 94 and a 95. Beyond being quiet and smooth and working very well, there’s not much else there even when I owned them 15 years ago they seemed extremely basic to me. Not fast, use lots of gas, no fancy tech of any sort… and they have some weird things starting to haunt them like the ABS ECU goes bad (soldering issue?) and it’s super expensive to replace.

It would be difficult to recommend one to anyone in this day and age to be honest. A very special car in its time that had a very important role in shaping the auto industry as we know it today, but one best learned about / experienced rather than owned I think.

That's the thing, it's good, but you have to really want one, at $2.2 per liter for 250 hp. If you're driving it stock you better like listening to the radio or cd tapes. Then you have the blown speakers, dead amps.

It's just Honda, Toyota and Mazda that's hella undersizing these.

Domestic AC will freeze your ears off instantly, even on their EVs, and even in humid and standstill traffic.
