Define good money? My level of income (which I would call good money, no great) would become no money after a divorce and he has to pay support for 3 kids.
A friend who is going through an ugly divorce was recently having a custody battle. The two kids was originally staying with her full time and the dad would take them during the day two times a week to maintain a relationship.
The dad is now fighting for custody not because he wants the kids with him (he doesn't even have space for them and he moved back to live with parents after the divorce) but rather if the kids spent less time with mom he would have to pay less support payments.
The toll I see taken on the kids though.....

Divorce, especially with 3 kids, does put a pretty serious dent in "good money" - he's just signed to rent a 3 bedroom townhouse for $4950/mo as they will have shared custody while his ex-wife will need a 4 bedroom house as her parents live with her/them. They're selling the house they have together and are probably going from a $5-8k mortgage payment to having to spend $10-12k on housing between the two of them. If I had to guess I think their household income was around $350-425k with him being the higher earner by a bit - I'd guess he'll pay a little bit of child support but not much.
They had also just moved on from paying $5k/mo for their nanny earlier this year and he was so excited to get that cashflow back and now it's gone again.

All in all, not bad at all, considering what thread has seen LOL
FIFA has done a number on the crackhead and clean up in Chinatown, it's crazy. It only marginally smells like piss now, and all the crackheads are in one area (just that one street on hastings). You can almost feel safe. We walked around Chinatown for quite a bit and got a chance to explore some pretty cool cultural gems that I never would have went to if it was still cracked up.

Did you count the gas cost though. With the price of gas these days lol.
Also, the Chinese Canadian museum is really cool, on E Pender.

The alimony / child support payments are the reasons why you won't see me getting a divorce lol~

Man my last fill up for 32L was $75.. 150 km is probably 1/3 of my tank, so $25? $100 ish for a date not too bad.
and I concur, the Chinese Canadian Museum is REALLY cool but I don't think I'm cultured enough to recognize any artists. They did have a karaoke machine there.. and I did some impromptu karaoke.

We were a 300k household before I got laid off and there's no way it's amazing money, or we are just doing something very wrong. There would be practically nothing left if we have to pay 5k monthly for a nanny on top of our mortgage. We were at a 175/125 split, and our take home was around 16-17k/m
Even at 350k, they would be taking home 19k a month, dropping 12k a month on two homes is ridiculous.
We are too broke to get divorced. I do joke that I can't afford to get divorced, but I can afford to die. I have enough coverage that my wife and kids would be taken care of.
Lesson to take home, don't get married, and definitely don't have kids.

Too broke to get divorced, too tired to have an affair, but rich enough to die.

Dont have kids and dont get married is what most ppl say, but majority will still do it.
I got coworkers that say that to me, yet they have been divorced multiple times, have multiple kids with different women. And are working to pay child support. Like dude take your own advice for once and get a vasectomy. Lol

I'd say you have to be good (and lucky) at picking your partner - if you pick well then things can turn out a lot better in the end. On the late stage of life side it makes a huge difference to quality of life if you have a solid partner. Bonus points if you have a good relationship with your kids. If those two are true then you're living large in the last 30 years of life.
