the broth is so dark

at least the pho noodles actually look what I had in nam. In a ball, and not spread around like a soup.

Thai Hang is awesome, they have some speciality noodle soup dishes.. you guys should check it out.. i love their shredded pork salad rolls and their beef brisket noodle soup..

imo, Le Petit Saigon is much better than Bao Chau, and is much cleaner..

My buddy's family owns Phnom Penh, and until I went to it during the summer with him and realized how famous it was, I thought it was some shit/shady place since it was located in Chinatown

Agree about the excellent fried chicken wings (and also squid) at Phnom Penh, but disagree on spring rolls.

Au Petit Cafe on 4851 Main has the best Vietnamese spring rolls in Vancouver.

For pho, our favourite goes to Pho Thai Hoa (both on Kingsway and in Richmond).

Has anyone tried Pho Linh? I saw there ad in the papers at Thai Son and it had a picture of a vietnamese mom with captions beside it saying something like "if you don't like it you don't have to pay for it!"

That was my first experience with Thai Son by the way, and I didn't enjoy their pho at all. The soup was luke warm, bland and easily overpowered by their spring rolls.

Pho Linh and Song Huong are known best for their Dac Biet Bo 3 Mon/Bo 7 Mon. go with a few friends and try it. Bo La Lot is awesome at both places too.
Pho Linh also does takeout for their Bo 3 Mon and the portions are very generous. probably even more so than eating in *hint hint*

'cause we're family friends with the lady that runs the joint, we get special treatment each and every time. but regardless of who walks in her store, she'll treat you like a regular patron each and every time. thats how nice she is!
as for the pho, i've found it a bit better than Thai Son. Thai son is a hit and miss at times, usually cause they're always busy during meal hours. less attention and care put into their dishes.

Bao Chao's spring rolls are fucking awesome IMO, but their pho is inconsistent - some days are fine, others are loaded with too much salt.

I went to try out Pho Linh yesterday, and like you said, the service was excellent. The pho itself was decent but didn't have the clear broth that I was looking for.

Next stop is Le Do.

Pho Ba Le in Hawaii. Hot as shit that day but was craving pho

Apparently, Roberto Luongo works there too

It actually wasn't bad. Soup was good, meat was good, noodles weren't too soggy. The beef balls tasted like chicken and was bleh.

$9 for a large pho but when you're craving it, you gotta do what you gotta do. I wouldn't go there regularly if I lived there tho.
