Still happens? It's a daily occurrence outside North America's sheltered little world and has been for decades.
Thousands if not tens of thousands of innocent men, women, and children have been murdered by IED's and bombings in the last few years at markets, riding the bus or train, at political rallies, or walking their pets down the street in other parts of the world and even if it's covered by western media people don't bat an eyelash. But three die in the United States and it's a tragedy of epic proportions.
I'm not trying to downplay what's happened, it is of course tragic that some cowards decided blowing up innocent people was the way to fight their battle. But some of you really need to wake up and realize what kind of world we live in.
RIP to those killed.
I agree, It meant to be directed to everyone/everywhere in general. We're all stuck on this planet together, we should have learnt by now how to get along peacefully despite our differences.
Sad thing is, its only getting worse IMO.
Really makes me question if you even want to bring a child into a world that seems to be crumbling.
And like you said it happens here once and a blue moon and its a big deal (obviously) but other places in the world deal with it on a daily basis. Scary stuff.
No I say it as in how ignorant the populous is to what the rest of the world is like and take what we have for granted.
I don't think that's what people are saying. You can still say "I can't believe this is still happening" on our soil, yet acknowledge that it still happens all the time in the shitty parts of the world.

that's because the media doesn't cover it with the fervor they do when its on home soil.. if they did I imagine a majority of the populace would be calling for an end to all the US/CA/UK bombings of "suspected terrorists" (which end up being farmers, children, etc)

imo how can they expect it not to happen on home soil when they're supporting it happening on foreign soil? you kind of have to expect that its bound to happen on home soil

I was wondering when one of you "more-worldly-than-thou" folks would chime in.
Put it into context. People who live in other parts of the world are cautious of suicide bombers/IEDs. They understand and know it's a part of their life. North Americans don't expect to run a marathon and lose a leg or go to school and get shot up. It's all about the envrionment around us so of course a news like this is gonna be a headliner. As someone else said, 1 of hudreds of suicide bombing attack a year isn't going to shock anyone nor have any political impact, yet this incident may just have foreign policy ramifications for our neighbours down south.
I think it's funny how hypocritical Revscene members are
some guy posts this .gif gets thousands of likes because protesting cyclists "deserves" it
yet another member posts a clip of an animated series (not even real-life) and gets shit on. Yeah sure it might not be the most appropriate time to be posting this material...yet we shouldn't condone actions like the one outlined in the gif by thanking that post.

The typical person goes
"I can't believe this is happening !!" (about Boston Blasts)

People shit on the family guy post because he didn't put it into context. It looks like he is simply making fun of the incident, and it really is "too soon" for that.
And whoever says that those cyclists "deserve" to be run over is a fucking idiot to begin with. I remember being appalled when people were saying that... but it happens over and over again on this here car forum.
Wall Street Journal is reporting total breakdown of the injured:
Brigham & Women’s: 26
Boston Medical Center: 23 patients (including two children, neither critical)
Mass General: 22 (six in critical, 5 serious)
Beth Israel Deaconness: 21 patients total
Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital: 13
Boston Children’s Hospital:
10 Tufts Medical Center: 9
There is NO suspect being detained at a local hospital, per the Boston News Conference via Boston PD Commissioner.
There are at least 3 deceased per the BPD Commissioner.
The hero in the cowboy hat helping the dude with the shattered legs:
and vice versa, sitting here thinking you'd probably do a lot if you were actually in the situation, with the adrenaline rushing and seeing people injured in real life, you'd be surprised by how much you'd just want to GTFO of there.........I personally think I would actually do what I could to help, but I have little faith that the average person would do much, if anything......After all, how many times do we see an accident on the road only to see 99% of people just drive right by thinking 'oh someone else will help'....
wow that hero in the cowboy hat... look at him shake. Must be really sinking in. Helps to save lives then walks to the subway and goes home.
True hero, not looking for recognition. Doing what needed to be done

Probably a mixture of adrenaline and shock. Huge respect to people like him that help people out without thought.
News report just now says the kid was waiting by the finish line for his dad who was running in the marathon.
There's a photo circulating FB now saying the 8yo killed was a little girl running in memory of Sandy Hook...
Really not sure what people are trying to accomplish by creating bullshit like this.
now circulating my Facebook is a photo of a man on his knees with a caption that says how he was supposed to propose to his girlfriend as she crossed the finish line and she was killed in the blast. Everyone likes to be part of a tragedy it seems, and it turns into a pity party for themselves and to prove how compassionate they are by posting on Facebook about something.. Not sure if its true or bullshit, but we are already at three death "back stories" and I'm sure we will hear 1000 more. Posted via RS Mobile
