RIP to those killed.
I agree, It meant to be directed to everyone/everywhere in general. We're all stuck on this planet together, we should have learnt by now how to get along peacefully despite our differences.

Sad thing is, its only getting worse IMO.
Really makes me question if you even want to bring a child into a world that seems to be crumbling.

And like you said it happens here once and a blue moon and its a big deal (obviously) but other places in the world deal with it on a daily basis. Scary stuff.

My prayers go out to the parents of the 8 year old boy killed in the marathon bombing.

It angers me to hear about a kid get killed by such an act of evil.

I don't think that's what people are saying. You can still say "I can't believe this is still happening" on our soil, yet acknowledge that it still happens all the time in the shitty parts of the world.

that's because the media doesn't cover it with the fervor they do when its on home soil.. if they did I imagine a majority of the populace would be calling for an end to all the US/CA/UK bombings of "suspected terrorists" (which end up being farmers, children, etc)

imo how can they expect it not to happen on home soil when they're supporting it happening on foreign soil? you kind of have to expect that its bound to happen on home soil

I was wondering when one of you "more-worldly-than-thou" folks would chime in.

Put it into context. People who live in other parts of the world are cautious of suicide bombers/IEDs. They understand and know it's a part of their life. North Americans don't expect to run a marathon and lose a leg or go to school and get shot up. It's all about the envrionment around us so of course a news like this is gonna be a headliner. As someone else said, 1 of hudreds of suicide bombing attack a year isn't going to shock anyone nor have any political impact, yet this incident may just have foreign policy ramifications for our neighbours down south.

People shit on the family guy post because he didn't put it into context. It looks like he is simply making fun of the incident, and it really is "too soon" for that.

And whoever says that those cyclists "deserve" to be run over is a fucking idiot to begin with. I remember being appalled when people were saying that... but it happens over and over again on this here car forum.

Agree with your first point

News report just now says the kid was waiting by the finish line for his dad who was running in the marathon.

There's a photo circulating FB now saying the 8yo killed was a little girl running in memory of Sandy Hook...

Really not sure what people are trying to accomplish by creating bullshit like this.

Is that woman in the top left dead? Some scary looking eyes.

And yeah, looks like someone's foot flew off in the bottom left corner.

now circulating my Facebook is a photo of a man on his knees with a caption that says how he was supposed to propose to his girlfriend as she crossed the finish line and she was killed in the blast. Everyone likes to be part of a tragedy it seems, and it turns into a pity party for themselves and to prove how compassionate they are by posting on Facebook about something.. Not sure if its true or bullshit, but we are already at three death "back stories" and I'm sure we will hear 1000 more.
