Much like some of the previous cars I've let go, school was one of those things I hated when I was there, then I missed it once it was gone ...

proshoraca 05-27-2003 10:37 AM

Holy crap that was a fast reply hahah right on
SCHIZEN, just got some massive computer nerd assignment for free..swedish,

Ya its gonna suck next year i think, school is like the biggest way of socialization when under 18 or whatever, oh well, its all good.

clutch5oh 05-27-2003 07:59 PM

well in another month i should have my social security number, and dual citizenship. then im ditching this rock, and heading back home. hawaiis cool and all but canada is sooo much better. id rather like to be somewhere, where i can drive for 6 hours in one direction, and not end up where i started. besides snow bunnys are soo much cooler then beach hoes. although they are nice to look at and all, but they all have narley attitudes. and bc smoke is way better then hawaiian smoke, if ya know what i mean.

Chandler 05-27-2003 09:44 PM

so it isnt just a rumor that we are blessed with excellent herbals?

Actually within the next 10 years, the big thing will be the trades. Right now we have every young graduate who knows how to make SQL databases while sleeping, but nobody is going to replace all the baby boomers retiring from the trades.

You'll still find many good jobs in the larger cities. Looking through the job listings in Calgary, the good money is for Java programmers and UNIX specialists at up to 100 grand a year.

delSol97 05-28-2003 06:09 AM

I wouldn't take CIS type stuff unless you are planning to move away from this area.
There are hardly any jobs (though they'd try to lead you to believe there are) and the ones that do exist don't pay very well.

Your average carpenter, electrician, or plumber will probably still make double an hour you'll make.

fourtirefire 05-28-2003 08:20 AM

yeah, i'll definitely haveto move to either vancouver or calgary to find a decent job... or wherever i need to go cuz there's nothing here in the OK

civic chick 05-28-2003 09:10 AM

get to apply for classes at ouc today....eek.

also got my cap and gown yesterday, i can't believe i finally graduate this friday....its scary.

Learn COBOL, you can make hordes of money if you know COBOL. :)

There are jobs like that here, but they think you should only get paid $10/hr.

I don't think there is anywhere in the valley that will pay more than I am getting right now ... unless you go solo and start your own business.

Chandler 05-28-2003 12:11 PM

i just asked my info tech teacher about COBAL and he laughed at me. he said its 20 years old. and C++ and java are the next big ones.
i dont know anything though haha

fourtirefire 05-28-2003 04:19 PM

who'd u ask about it? schadd or pavi?

Canadian Rider 05-28-2003 04:20 PM

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWK ..... the place i work at is going out of business as of saturday....... anyone know of anywhere that's hiring full time for the summer in kelowna?:(
