I read the manga issues corresponding to the episodes I've watched...they're almost exactly the same. I was kinda bored to be honest like this is some kind of kid's show. There's no real complexity to the story or the characters...you can see everything happening a mile away.

I'm at episode 20. The fighting is getting better but...there's a seriously problem with Naruto's likability. He's such a whiny bitch...I mean, shut the fuck up and fight already.

The animation quality improved ten-fold in season 2. It's looking more like...maybe Miyazaki style.

All Naruto does is whine and when he finally fights, the only technique he use is kage bunshin. Extremely lame for a main character.
But the anime gets so much better when it gets to the Akatsuki part.  Itachi is so badass.
