Ricko @ Richmond Honda back when RSX/CRV just came out.

went tire kickin' there, just looking at the CRV, he came up
just having a convo, i asked this is the same engine as the
RSX? (at the time didn't it was a 2.4) his response

"i dono about them, but this one has IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Vtec"

also herd MB sales telling my friend's mom that CLK had 4wd.

at lougheed acura, some sales guy started to mock vw's and started to praise acuras. He then said, "nothing can't beat a tl like this one that is well made from japan." Unlike your jetta that's made in mexico...I was like "ummm, it's made in germany, if you look at the vin it's wvw not 3vw. then I was like hmmm, made in japan eh? "so if this 'well made car' was built in japan, what's this 1 in front of the vin number for, or is that a wierd looking j?" he shuts up and goes away....idiot....
actually.....jetta sedan are made in mexico.......only passat, touareg and all model of wagon form are made in germany.

This is a good thread, keep it up

I haven't had many opportunities for a story as I've always bought privately, however I was with a friend checking out one 240sx at some ghetto place in Surrey.

It was an '89 hatch, guy said the motor had been recently replaced with one from a '92 240sx (which would have been a DOHC motor) yet clearly this was still the SOHC motor. It also apparently had a new clutch - which felt like crap and was slipping after starting on a hill. The last ghetto thing about the car was a few small squares of duct tape around the engine bay. I peeled them back a bit only to find rust holes (lol).

Another story:

I was with another buddy who knew all about 240's and purchased one from this sketchy place in surrey as well. All he cared about was if there was much rust on the car, and the condition of the body/paint (both of which were decent) so the car was bought. On the way home we stopped at Wendy's and since we were in Surrey we locked the doors. After lunch we couldnt get back into the car... the key they supplied us with ONLY worked in the ignition, not in either door or the hatch. Also, there isnt even a key that DOES work for the doors, at all. Needless to say, the doors havent been locked since, which sucks.

a sales person said to me "you know this wrx has the same engine as the porsche boxster?"

me: what you talking about, the boxster is a 6cyl NA and this is a 4cyl turbo.

sales man: oh I was just testing you, you are pretty smart.

I was at the Toyota dealership, and told them I was going to go check out the Hyundai dealership up the road for Tiburons. The salesman from Toyota shows me a magazine article saying that the Tib is one of the 5 most unreliable vehicles for that model year. I go to Hyundai and ask the salesman about this. He says "Yeah, well the other cars on that list are Mercedes, BMW, etc. Those cars are worth 50, 60 thousand dollars. They're comparing the Tiburon to the Benzes, and those are VERY nice cars."

The article wouldnt have compared JUST the Benz, BMW, etc, to a Hyundai. I think you are the idiot for believing a Hyundai salesman.
