Nothing more pointless than XYZ stock up big (I had no idea or any way of knowing why or how this happened, I'm just sharing information) |

a few things i've noticed, i just wanted to verify with you guys, if you noticed the same things... or feel free to add on. -good trades work almost right away. none of this going sideways, slightly in or out of the money. all my good trades work within a 1-5 candle sticks (whichever time frame you use). after ~5 bars if it's still not "well" in the money, just cut your loss and get out. but have the balls to jump back in when the signal presents itself again, even if it's soon after. I figure once it's ~5 bars out and not going your way, then you're just gambling at this point. the signal you chose to enter on was wrong, and now the new updated information (the 5 or so bars), tell you it's not going anywhere, so get out. don't gamble. -if you find yourself having a hard time pulling the trigger (to get in, or out), it's probably the right thing to do. the hardest trades to make, are usually the best ones (and vice versa, the easiest trades are usually the losers). -the H word... hope. if you find yourself using that word, you should probably just get out of the trade. Don't hope it turns around, don't hope for more, don't hope. I talk to myself outloud a lot, and discuss my trades with friends. I always catch myself saying hope ex. I hope the market tanks tomorrow (while in a position). Do or do not! there is no hope! lol... hope ties in heavily with the point above. hope makes it exponentially harder to pull the trigger. -chasing the market: i say... yes to chasing. to a certain point... some traders are picky as fuck, they want their limit order price, they want that exact fucking price. they'll nit pick like a few cents or dollars for an entry point, and if they don't get that price they forget about the trade. I say fuck those few cents and chase. if you're so certain on the market direction, those few cents mean nothing in the grand picture of the trade. now don't get this confused with a market that's been running for days or weeks or whatever, chasing a market that's already had a big move is different. that's all i can think of for now. If any of you guys have advice on how to add on positions to a current one, ex. what to look for, segregated stop losses or all grouped together. etc. your experiences. i'd like to hear em. or whatever. I think sharing stories and experiences is probably better than sharing stock pickings. there's no point sharing stock pickings if people arent gonna trade it properly right? |
good info! thanks Ulic! As someone who is a "noob" your post really explains where your head should be when making trades and ect. |

it's my first time investing any money in anything as I am only 18 and its going pretty damn well, I know not every invest will go this well let alone work. Myself I would haven't wanted to invest RIMM because of the risk, but my grandparents helped me on it because they are teaching me about stocks and the market etc they told me it was so cheap at the time we bought it that I should put my money in also it closed at 13.56$ today with a increase of 1.64$ EDIT: forgot the end of my post.. :failed: |

For those long term investors, and not traders. DML (denison) just got upgraded this past week and uranium demand and prices is projected to increase in 2013. uranium prices are at super low prices at around $40 a lb, and it was almost $75 before the japan earthquake. I've been a long time holder, bought more when it was at $1.10, with an average cost of $1.25. Back on Sept 18th, 2012 someone bought a shietload of shares (5 times daily volume) around $1.70. |
