Went to Dali, Lijiang, Zhongdian, and Kunming (not an exciting city at all).

Zhongdian

Lijiang

Outside of Dali

Dali Old City and Lijiang Old City are both very beautiful places . Zhongdian is probably the 2nd closest city to the Tibetan border. A good majority of the people there were Tibetan. Our car driver was Tibetan, very nice fellow.

a combination of altitude/CP/non-polluted skies makes the biggest difference.

when i was in tibet, i didn't have a cp with me and a lot of the pics had strong
contrast and skies.

Sunshine and lighting makes a really big difference. If you have sunshine, you will have great colours + contrast.

Or, if you lack the sunshine, make your own with flashes

I like the second one better. It looks like the first one is focused on the corner of the plate instead of the first piece of food. Certainly looks delicious though!

im the opposite.

I prefer the first.
tho, my eye does stray to the corner of the plate often. perhaps some more focus lighting, vignetting, cropping, to help bring the eye up to the sushi, instead of plate. id like to see all the prosciutto the same color, and perhaps the right side is too tight?

second one fails to me cause its far to messy. i lose the sushi in the bed of cucumbers and the red crab on black background screams for my attention. i think it's just not my steez.

but im salivating right now, can i email you money and you can courier some over?

i like the first, it's a lighter , less cluttered...

the second, like dennis said, is messy.
the crab in the back is like this big red stop sign, my eyes just jump there.

finally..
wow yum. id like a couple plates of that.
rs senna sushi meet? :P
i think that would be a pretty successful meet

i like the first one as well, but the dish could be plated a bit better. IE, the sauce.
