I'd like to try taking the same photo, what do you do, pop an ND filter on, wait for 9 o clock to roll around and take a 30 long exposure, hoping to catch it?
Need to wear earplugs so you don't go deaf? | No, I don't use a filter, although a 1 or 2 stop ND might help. I stop down the lens to anywhere between f11 to 16 for the muzzle blast, and use whatever time I need to expose the background properly. I usually shoot at 32 seconds, f16, 50 ISO on the Hassy, and that's the exposure I use as a base exposure for other cameras. Your setting will vary depending on which camera you use. The settings I used on my 5DmkII didn't work for the 5DmkIII or D4.
As for the warnings for the gun, there is a yellow light that starts to flash 30 seconds before the gun goes off, and 10 seconds before the gun goes off, the light in the shelter will go off, and a red light will start flashing along with an audible buzzer 10 seconds before. I would say you should at the very least cover your ears. Quote:
