I had 6 wisdom teeth cut out. 2 of them had to be cut out of my jaw bone. There was no sign of the extra teeth or any cramming untill they took an x-ray. Post-surgery was very painfull but I had surprisingly little swelling. I had demoral for the pain. Nothing like waking up, popping 2 demoral, smoking a joint, making a big smoothie and passing out on the lounge chair out on the deck in the sun for 5 hours... |
^ 6 wisdom teeth? I thought people only have 4 max? |
i just got 2 taken out like 2 hrs ago by dr.kenneth chow, it was much better than i thought, i was awake during , and it probably last only about 10-15 mins. still biting on those cotton balls, man. i wonder when i could eat, been biting those cotton balls for like a good 4 hrs now, and it's still bleeding |

Interesting. Apparently some people do get six wisdom teeth pulled... and some even seven! |
Had my 4 taken out this morning ...Went to Dr.Reichman and he provided the IV... slept through it... he finished within 45 minutes and I gone out of the office in 1.5 hours... My lips r still numb and Im still biting on those guaze they provided me... makes my jaw sore -_- |
wow im hella shook to do this wisdom teeth business. they said if i dont do it my wisdom teeth will grow out and miss align my teeth and hurt like a bitch |
I got it done a few years ago, had 3 taken it cause that's all I had. Jaw was kind of sore after but not too big a deal and by the end of 1week i was pretty much healed. |
Had all 4 of mine pulled out at the same time. Looked like a cubby bunny for like a week, couldn't even eat a slice of bread after like the third day, i was sooo frustrated, hahaha |
dentist said to me that he'd freeze my gum and put me on some gas. he asked if i wanted to be in a deep sleep instead but i refused id rather be semi awake for it. anyone experienced the gas before? |
i just got all 4 of mine removed this morning under full IV sedation. it owned. 8 hours later not really experiencing any pain, but i do still have numbness in my chin and bottom lip.. |
Has anybody had just ONE wisdom tooth come out with no signs of the others? I need to get one taken out but after taking x-rays my dentist said it wasn't an emergency and that I could wait for the rest of them to come out. A few weeks ago it felt like it was ripping out my gums  and now this week my gums are starting to swell on the bottom left again. :( |
I had my two bottom ones taken out early 2006. The dentist had to break the teeth into several pieces to get it out which sucks and since it wasnt fully grown out I got stitches. I was awake for all of them which sucks. For the last couple weeks the two top ones were biting against the side of my mouth and was bothering me a lot. So I had them taken out just last friday. I just started to eat solid foods just yesterday which was a really quick recovery. No stitches for this one :) So happy I finally dont have to worry about my wisdom teeth anymore :D |
I just remembered something that scared me when I had it done, the dentist warned me there's a very slim chance that while getting a tooth out a nerve near the root of the tooth could be severed and you could lose feeling on the bottom half of your jaw. Then I talked to one of my friends and they knew someone who had that happen. I was crapping my pants on the way there haha |
if it makes you feel any better about it, i was at a "medium" risk of this nerve damage on my bottom ones, well it took about 12 hours but the freezing finally wore off.. all 4 of them were impacted and the two bottom ones had to broken into pieces to be removed. i have stitches. my face isn't swollen and i'm really not in any pain. iguess this is probably accredited to the T3's and IBU's i've been taking and a liquid diet for the day (i'm hungry as fuck, but don't want to push it) they're barely even bleeding anymore. it's really nothing to get this done, i feel like i could go back to work tommorow at my labour job. (but i'm not going to) don't worry about it, the sedation is a cool experience, and afterwards it really doesn't hurt very bad. get it done while you're young and avoid the trouble of it later in life when recovery is worse. |
i agree with bluebomber85 and I'm getting my other 2 done next week.... yikes!!! |
Sitting in the backseat of the truck on the way home from getting my 4 wisdom teeth yanked when BAM! rear ended at a stoplight. I was so drugged up in the back seat from the surgery that the impact knocked the gauze clear out of my mouth. Turns out the person that hit us was a nurse lol she had just got off at 12 hour shift and hit us doing maybe 30k. and two cars behind her was an ambulence. I just remember them opening my door and the look on their faces. Must have been quite the sight to have the 2 other passengers fine, and me with blood smeared all over my face and shirt, and blood spewed all over the back seat  |
Funny I find this because I'm seeing the oral surgeon on Wednesday and I almost forgot :D I don't want to read the stories but I'm getting knocked the fuck out. |

well day two, and i took a T3 this morning when I woke up and a 600MG IBUProfin and once again I feel just fine.. there's a little bit of swelling but i have full feeling everywhere and I'm experiencing no pain whatsoever. i even took the gauze out last night around 9 as it stopped bleeding.. to anyone else who gets all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed, go to a specialist, get them to knock you out. i feel 95% already. it's pretty important to get them taken out because in most cases it's nearly impossible to get a toothbrush back there to PROPERLY clean them, let alone dental floss. so they pretty much recommend for everyone to get them taken out. just schedule a few days off work after just in case and it's really no big deal at all. hopefully this clarifies the recovery a little for some of the squeamish! |
i dont have to take mine out, hahaha when i had my braces they pulled some molars forward and made room for my wisdom teeth. |
had all 4 of mine pulled out in one go, 3 of them were growing out sideways and would've completely misaligned my teeth. was put under, procedure took 15 mins, but i slept for another 45 and then went home. no swelling, not much bleeding either only during the first hour. solid foods by day 3. no infections either. after reading some of the horror stories here, guess i was pretty lucky. |
