COVID entry restrictions for Hong Kong, Macau, and China are still quite fluid as the situation evolves. It is unlikely that Hong Kong will re-adopt stricter entry restrictions because the city's economy has really been doing quite poorly, and the local gov is trying hard to rejuvenate its international tourism. The rumour mill has also been suggesting that Hong Kong will announce the cancellation of all COVID entry restrictions in the upcoming CEO Policy Address on the 19th. So things may change again at that point. But at the end of the day, China is still extremely stubborn with its way of handling COVID, and Hong Kong will ultimately go with China's policy as well if they are being told by China to do so. So the best you can do is to stay tuned, but I'm sure your brother will keep you posted about Hong Kong's entry restrictions since he is there.

Macau's economy is very dead too, but their casino and tourism sectors are far too dependent on China and Chinese tourists, so it is more likely that they will continue to follow China's model instead of Hong Kong's.

Ah it would be great to be able to go to restaurants/bars right off the bat and not have to wait three days. Better than before though, I had already planned and anticipated for 3 day hotel QT.

The removal of 3+4 is why i have so much time now to plan out what to do with my time there.

Anyone know what the COVID traveling rules are looking like for HK right now?

We're thinking about flying with Cathay stopping in HK on the way to Thailand and I'm worried about any headaches landing in HK for the layover of a day.

Any info?

PCR test on arrival. For the first 2 days you will not be able to enter restaurants or other places that require checkin (govt facilities).

This includes temples, which we found out as we went to visit my wife's grandmother's spot at a temple and she had a new phone that didn't have the QR code app installed yet (oops)

Probably not worth it for a layover

Yeah not worth it for one day since you can't go into restaurants or any kind of sit down place unless you wanted to go hiking or something.
