do vaporizers work?

I tried one once, since I have asthma I can't smoke, and I was convinced to try it while hammered. I dind't really feel anything, but I was probably too drunk to notice anyways. Haven't done it since, since I'm not big into anything besides alcohol.

but when i do it, i usually make a water bong, $5 worth of supplies from home depot and you can make like quite a few

eating pot totally freaks me out.
I never liked the feeling of losing my senses. I found that out the hard way after consuming a plate of brownies a long time ago. I couldn't move for 3 days, and it's scared me ever since.

i dont think you guys know how much weed u need to make a whole batch! atleast a 0z of cronic to get you high on 1 batch.

vaporizors work, i have one i use it from time to time... i still prefer my water bong though.

My friend just bought one from Mark Emery Direct. I think it's called the Hot Box. All can I say is that it's worth every penny. He got the one with the onyx rock casing which was $260.

I think the way it works is that it vaporizes just the THC and doesn't burn the bud itself. Therefore, no tar is formed. My other friend has the same vaporizer and I think it's for sale. I think the casing around his is ceramic. He comes back to Vancouver at the end of the week and if you are interested I can take some pics and find out a price for you.

im also in the market for a Vaporizer as i smoke more then i should typically :(

and recently only working weekends and working from home on weekdays, i've been smokin WAYY too much, and it's just makin me feel like shit, although i do like pot alot, from advice on other forums etc. i've gathered this information:

Vaporizers, the proper ones heat the THC crystals up to a point where they are turned into vapour where as from what i understand, create a much MUCH lesser content of carbons you are inhaling, and instead of inhaling the dense smoke you are only inhaling steam persay

personally i think i'm gonna fork out the money for the Volcano, but alot of other people i've talked to have had great experiances with the following [to make it easy on myself i will just copy and paste the opinions] *Keep in mind some of these people offering the opinions are your typical true "stoner" and may sound like idiots but they provide some usefull info on the subject:

or get a volcano. My best friend has the vapir, and it's awesome. You put the pot into these wire mesh discs and slide them into the chamber. It also has a digital temperature readout display, and you being a digitaldj this would go very well for you. It comes with a hose with a mouthpiece to use or you can get a bag like for the volcano. The volcano will set you back far more.

Vaporizing is different than smoking in these ways: it tastes alot better, it's healthier for you, it doesn't smell anywhere near as bad as smoking, (Not that I think it's a bad smell) and the high is different. It's alot clearer and you don't really feel burnt out or tired. I think it's because you don't actually combust the plant material, you just heat it up enough to activate the THC. about a month ago, the thing is amazing. it cost 160 (150 plus ten extra bucks for a decent magnetized metal grinder), which is a hell of a lot less than a volcano, but somehow I'm thinking money isnt an issue, when your dropping 500+ on sushi. to be honest though, this works just as good as a volcano, which I've used only a few times at a friends house. its not as easy to use, because you cant just turn it on and let it do the rest. it takes a little while to get the perfect technique down; you'll probably get it good on your first hit, without burning it or anything, but after a while you can get hits off of weed that a lot of people would consider to be fully vaped out, which is just awesome. but I'll vouch for this, just because so far its been great"

one last opinion + writeup for the Volcano:

i´m vaping with the Volcano as I type this, and i gotta say, i have never once regretted throwing down about $440 for it. i got it off ebay for $405 "slightly used" with about $40 for shipping (pretty much all the way across the US).

during the first couple of months of having it, i realized that i couldnt vape all the time because it got me too high. just the other day, i vaped at 11:00am and was still pretty high at 7:00pm when i was leaving work.

here are the benefits i´ve noticed:

-you use less weed to get 5x as high

-you can scrape the resin off of the metal plunger thing that goes in the "bowl," as well as from the inside of the valve itself. i´ll use a paper clip and pretty much "wipe" it off and smear it on a chunk of weed, then smoke it. it will fuck you up.

-you can save the vaporized weed to make cannabutter. the first time i did this, i forgot to weigh it out before hand to see how much i had so i cant really give any figures. i used the butter to make a cake and after eating 3 fairly large pieces, i had a decent high going. the cake tasted like how the vapor resin smells. currently, i´ve been saving every last bit since May 2006 and i have a glass peanut butter jar almost 80% full, which is about 3-4 times as much as i had used before. a jar full of every kind of weed that myself and all of my friends have had during the past 9-10 months, ground up. not surprisingly, it kinda smells like peanut butter (due to the jar). with the next butter i´ll be making, i plan to give it all away. whatever food i make will be free to all my friends since it´s everyone´s weed. it´s kinda cool to still have a little bit of EVERY kind of weed you had throughout the past year or so, assuming you vaporized it.

-if you´re hard up for fresh weed, you can re-vape the stuff you´ve been saving. and it will still get you as high as you would be from using fresh stuff. no joke. i only did this for a couple of weeks so as to not use up more THC that would take away from the to-be-made cannabutter. i just used a little more than usual and set it at a higher temperature. actually, the weed i´m vaping with right now is from yesterday and it´s definitely working like a charm. i think i had to stop vaping it yesterday because i got too high.
i really dont recommend smoking the vaped weed because it´s pretty gross. all dried out and brown (not burnt, though).

-since you should DEFINITELY be using a nice grinder to break up your weed so it can vaporize properly, you´ll most likely have one with a screen in it to collect keef. i barely even have to touch weed anymore with my fingers which saves on lost trichomes. i know the difference is marginal, but when talking about efficiency, it´s an important aspect. vaporizing with keef - even just a little bit sprinkled on some ground up weed - is almost too much for me. i kinda freaked out the one time i did it.

-the healt benefit. if you´re sick with a bad sore throat, vaporizing will NOT irritate your throat as much, if at all. and it´s way easier on your lungs. there´s no "smoked out" feeling. if you go from being straight-up sober to vulcanizing (as a friend calls it), you will feel so much better. and the fact that the high lasts ridiculously long with such a clean, clear feeling... well, you know what i mean.

-if you´re vaping just by yourself, you can still chill out with it for a while because the vapor wont go stale as fast in the bag, if at all (i use the extra-large size Reynolds Turkey Oven Bags). during the course of 30 min. or more, i´ll only fill up two bags and then be done. you could definitely vape it more, so that´s why i´ll use it again a day later or something. but most often i´ll just put it in the PB jar and make the cannabutter that much stronger.

-it´s easy to clean with Everclear (95% alcohol) or something else equally as strong. doing this regularly vastly improves the taste, as does changing the bags every so often (before you start seeing resin building up in the bag or before it starts sticking together a lot on the inside)


with the Volcano, you´re essentially squeezing every last drop of THC (et al) from the buds. it´s the most efficient way to get high, in my opinion. i´ve only used one other vaporizer so my experience is limited. but i´ve been so impressed with the Volcano for all the reasons mentioned above that i know i made the right choice. a lot of my friends wont vape with me because they have important shit to do soon and they cant function well when that high. you know that you´ve got a great "smoking" device when people laugh when they see you bring it out and then decline to participate because they "dont wanna get that high."

think about it - YOU CAN GET HIGH FIVE TIMES OVER FROM THE SAME WEED: vaporizing it, smoking the vapor-resin, re-vaporizing it if you want, cooking with it, and smoking/vaporizing the trichomes from your grinder. it just keeps on giving and giving!

i smoke out of a hotbox every day.
ive also tried the volcano many times at the bc MP bookstore.

as great as it is for getting you the most mellow high, it has its downs.

for one, when you smoke out of it all the time, you still crave joints and bongs. i find myself hitting the bong more and more often lately because the vaporizor wont SMACK you in the side of the head to get you high. sometimes you need that POW, that you'll only get out of a big glass bong.

big advantages of vaporizor:
1. if you smoke every day or at least multiple times a week, it'll save you money in the long run. its super efficient. a dimebag will take out 3 grown men in a vapo, where a 1g joint will not.
2. in the case of the volcano, its much more casual in the sense that you can put it down and come back to it a little later if you want to take a short break. the steam isnt going anywhere.
3. its waaay more healthy than any other way you can possibly think of smoking bud. you only get pure thc.
5. it doesnt smell as much. i smoke it upstairs in my vapo room all the time and when i come back to it a little later (assuming my window was open) theres no smell lingering in the room.
f. its pretty discrete. especially the hot box. just looks like a tiled box w/ a hole in it. nobody even knows what it is.
@. its good for casual smokers because its not as harsh of a high as say, a 6ft bong hit. its also great for regulars because you can keep hitting it for hours to get high, higher, highest, highness, highester.

now for the disadvantages:
=. like i said, its not going to satisfy you in every way. you're still going to have to hit the bong and smoke a joint once in a while... wait.. is that a bad thing?
never mind. the vaporizor is awesome.

sidenote: while the volcano is fucking awesome, the hotbox only has one disadvantage imo. this is that you cant put as much chronic in the hotbox. the glass chamber only holds about 1/2cm of green. you're going to find yourself refilling it every 5mins. when i hit it with my roommate, we end up refilling it probably 6-10 times. w/ the volcano, i find im usually at a pretty good level after only about 6-7 bags (3-4 refills)

the hotbox we have was 200 no tax at the bc mp bookstore.

Vaporizers rule!!! my buddy has the Vapir one... that thing will get you high as shit, hardly bothers the lungs at all, throw down the money for one!
