^ same man!!! sc 2 and cataclysm !!!

2damaxmr2 02-26-2010 11:38 PM

screw cataclysm. It will be fun for a few months and it will be boring as the wotlk. SC1 was fun for at least 5 years. SC2 will keep me busy for at least a year or two.

For anyone who wants to try SC2 beta without a betakey, you can use lazylaunch to load a map to play around against AI.

The AI is set to very easy and offers no challenge at all, but you can still play around with the new units and stuff.

SC2 maps can be found here: http://www.nibbits.com/sc2/maps/

Thanks for the heads up! Downloading the Client now, I've been browsing torrent sites too and there seems to be a couple torrents for "AI Supported maps with easy/med/hard" soo I'll see how it goes

c32 02-28-2010 07:05 PM

ill pay someone 5 dollars to get the SC2 beta working on my computer!!

ForbiddenX 02-28-2010 11:06 PM

Got mine to work! I don't know if I'm actually versing comps though it starts a game.

Shoot me a pm if you need any help

Edit: there are actual comps!

_Hotsauce_ 02-28-2010 11:28 PM

I hope someone comes out with some harder AI. I downloaded an "Easy/Med/Hard" pack but the AI is just terrible, I think I tried playing on Medium against 3 opponents, and it was stupid easy, I was attacked once in 30 minutes.

Other wise, it works wonderfully.....

Phucmang, Download the Beta client from Piratebay, or any other torrent site. Install the game, run the launcher, let the game update to the latest version. Download Lazy Launcher, download from torrent site of your choice, put Lazylauncher into SC2 directory (same as the .exe for the game). Lastly, download one of the AI Map Packs, follow instructions in said download, it might ask you to replace one .mpq file, or replace one folder. Replace as needed. Run Lazylauncher, select map from mappack download, launch and you should be good to go! Oh, you'll know if you have computer opponents or not as if you don't it will say "You win! Quit/Resume" right after launch.

You cannot save though as its the multiplayer beta ;)

Beta Installation and
AI Guide
(video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6YfX-OZWKQ
What you will need:
Actual Beta client: HERE
Launcher (v2): HERE
AI Compilation: HERE
usmc23 & turdbuglar AI v5.1 (Smartest Yet): HERE
usmc23 & turdbuglar AI v5 (Tweaked with 2x minerals): HERE
usmc23 & turdbuglar AI v4: HERE
usmc23 & turdbuglar AI v4 Unsupported (cheating and harder): HERE
Recently fixed Chinese version AI (5 different lvls): HERE
Tweaked Chinese with custom Protoss: HERE
Map Pack: HERE
More Maps: HERE
Optional:
Beta Loader (extends lazylauncher v2.0, comes with AI, very cool, can add maps and AI, customizable): HERE
Note: Rename no longer required
Resource Hack (for the cheaters out there): HERE
What you will do:
1) Assuming you have downloaded the Beta client, run it and install to default directory.
2) Once installed, run. You should then be presented with a patch upgrade.
3) Continue with patching. If you haven't been presented with a patch upgrade, continue to step 5.
4) After finished patching, don't play. Just quit.
5) Download the launcher to someplace you wont forget ( I suggest making a "SC2 stuff" folder on your desktop or somewhere)
6) Download the AI Compilation and extract to the "SC2 stuff" folder. There will be a readme there with helpful information. In one of the steps in the readme, it will tell you to load the map in the map folder. Don't, since we will download a separate map pack and use those maps. Do follow every other previous step though.
7) Download the Map Pack and extract to some folder in your "SC2 stuff" folder.
8) You're basically good to go. Run the Launcher, select a map from the Map Pack you have downloaded, and enjoy!

DuhDang 03-02-2010 04:54 PM

anyone know how to change it 2vs2 or smth? seems to be only free for all and on some maps computers gang bang u one after another nonstop lol

Graeme S 03-02-2010 08:06 PM

Launchers don't allow you to choose your race, huh? Just luck o' the draw?

ForbiddenX 03-02-2010 08:41 PM

^Yea but you can keep resetting the match it gives you another race.

Edison_Chen 03-04-2010 03:45 PM

Can anybody give me a step by step how to install the beta? I'm soo stupid, I can't read the instructions properly.

I've also noticed is that when i launch the lazy launch problem is crashes. Is it related to JIT debugging?

Thxs

2damaxmr2 03-04-2010 10:05 PM

i downloaded the beta but i am stucked on the patch part. the screen is blank and it doesn't download the newest patch by it self.

DuhDang 03-05-2010 05:23 PM

i didnt download the patch and it still works.
So far playing the game it feels like an expansion pack. Doesnt seem like any real changes or improvements from SC1.
They just added some units and took some out.

City-bear 03-05-2010 05:48 PM

Ive played almost 100 games of the beta now (vs real ppl) I have to say if this game stays the way it is, i dont think it will be as long lasting as the original SC1.

Obviously there are still balance issues, but with that said, the game is much faster. I actually enjoy the faster pace.

The other major issue that I dont like, and the reason why i think it wont be as great as the original is the lack of depth in micro and macro. The game itself reminds me more of Warcraft 3 (where units of a certain type do x amount more dmg or less dmg vs other types of units, they've used a similar system in sc2). There are so many hard counters that the mediocre players can beat very good players with very little skill at all. It has devolved itself from a game of chess to rock/paper/scissors. I hope they do something to fix this, and i do think that a lot more can be added into the game, but there will be 2 more exp pacs coming out of this so meh.

2damaxmr2 03-05-2010 08:27 PM

i really miss some of the units in the original and BW. I am running it on my laptop so the graphic is garbage lol. I still like SC1, BW more but hopefully the custom maps will be at least good as the original.

ForbiddenX 03-05-2010 08:35 PM

I don't really know the terminology for SC. What's the difference between macroing and microing? I remember I read somewhere that SC2 is more macroing as opposed to microing? I'm not really sure what they are though.

I've been enjoying the cracked version but I really want to be playing against real people :P. People on RFD said they sent out another wave of invites so everyone check your BNet accounts!
