StarCraft 2 will be an RTS largely in the same vein as its predecessor. The game will feature the same three races: Protoss, Zerg, and Terran. Action will unfold on the same type of 2D plane as before, with multitiered maps that ground units must use ramps to move between. Graphics have been updated significantly, many new units added, and some old units removed. Blizzard was unwilling to divulge much about how the Zerg and Terran forces have changed, but shed some light on the new developments for the Protoss. Story specifics are still being kept under wraps, though from the concept art it seems Kerrigan will somehow be involved. The game will release "when it's done" for PC and Mac only. It's currently in pre-alpha stages of development, and has been in production at Blizzard since the release of WarCraft 3: The Frozen Throne in 2003.

starcraft ghost was announced like 5 years ago, and then they stopped the development.

hopefully starcraft 2 won't take the same route!

haha its been almost 10 yrs since starcraft came out... it hink the've been delaying all this because of the success of SC in Korea.. no need to mess w/ something thats not broke..

i dont hitnk their messing with it, they're just releasing another game, its up to the ppl whether they wish to try this sequel

SC is my favorite game of all time on any system..... this is awesome

Haha...I seriously doubt their gonna get beta out by the end of 07...I just don't see it happening..

beta in '09. Besides, they still have warcrack to worry about updating and releasing new content for.

Sounds kinda sketchy...It says on the site, "The report also claims that Blizzard plans to shut down its original StarCraft servers in order to ensure the success of the sequel." That's highly unlikely...I would think. They can't just cut off the old SC like they did with the old CS 1.5.

I think it's pretty funny the announcement is on Saturday...when everyone in the industry isn't reading the news.

Apparently, the time they announce it in Korea is about 10pm PST on Friday for us
