$50 price at the door is consent robbery! Saw a lot of neat cosplayers outside the 'free' area. Most were surprisingly well done. Some really cute girls but it's probably the make up masking their face. Some dreadful 'traps' (male playing as a female role). The atmosphere looks pretty fun. I would like to volunteer there next year if they offer. |
Went there yesterday, they managed to make my skin crawl with a naruto vs bleach battle and a "falcon punch"chant. Although! I did pick up a Eva-01 Type F model for half price :) |

I was just wondering.. With all these sponsors and massive rip off $50 admission fee .. where is all the money going to?.. i mean apparently all or most the staff are volunteers right?.. 2400 x 50 = $120000 -> where did this money go? to rent the place or something??? Add in the store booths profit (i assume like ALL events having a booth cost money for the store owners) Sponsors -> what are they like sponsoring 5 bucks or seomthing? >.> .. and yes.. they should get some real jap bands like ZZ, that was probably the best part of AE when i went.. live concert was dope.. |
venue must have been expensive. vcec is a very very high end place. also, bringing in guests such as voice actors, writers, and bands must have cost some money too. yeah i miss the ae 2007. back-on from japan rocked. best concert. |
i know that when i used to be part of this, money would not only be used to pay for the venue, but for flight tickets of out of town guests, their hotels, their meals etc. Also your staff and volunteers would have to be fed since they're volunteers (it's the least that we could do to reward everyone). On top of all that you'd have equipment rental costs for transportation of equipment etc. and yes, venue was super hella expensive this year. |

It looked like a lot more people dressed up this time around. Mind you, last year was not at UBC, so it could be deceiving. |
