Well, technically only a few LDs actually have labs. They can all take your film but they'll get developed at one store and get transferred back. https://photolab.londondrugs.com/con...f-e161514ffb4f
Looks like 41st and Victoria has the last lab in Vancouver.

ABC Photo does C41 color for $5 a roll. Then I just self scan at home. B&W is super easy to DIY if you buy the chems (I bought Rodinal and Ilford Stop/Fix at Beau). Works out to be pennies to develop B&W and its super easy at home. Stand development can be done in an hour of it just sitting in the developer and you just need to agitate it once, 30 mins in. If you guys need help or have any questions I'm always down to help other film developers.
LD is good because theyre close to everyone etc, but I found their scans too saturated. Development only I believe was kind of pricey unless you have employee discount. Costco Canada does not develop anymore but the USA locations do and its dirt cheap. Not to mention they use Noritsu scanners apparently and the scans can come out amazing.
Also if you need the scan 35mm rolls let me know too. My Pakon 35mm scanner eats them like its nothing and gives really nice dynamic scans. My pricing will be a hell of a lot cheaper than most labs and I'll send them to you in RAW as well .

so far i've only been shooting b&w and i probably mostly only will.
i also do plan to develop myself but havent really looked into the details of procuring a kit for it yet. my first few rolls i'll prob just bring to LD, but once i can develop my own then maybe i'll hit you up to scan my negatives |

It's sad that film has lost so much appeal the last few years. The rendition or character of film is just so unique. It'd be sad if it's gone in a few more years.

What films do you guys like? I've always loved the look of Kodachrome but of course you can't shoot Kodachrome anymore. Looked at Fuji Provia and Astia (the Astia-look is usually my starting point when developing RAWs in Lightroom) as well as Kodak Portra and Ektar. For B&W, Neopan and Tri-X.
Also, it looks like Kerrisdale Camera has some pretty cheap prices for film developing. $3.39 for 35mm, $3.99 for 120.

On B/W, strictly Ilford.

Fuji Pro400H for lower contrast
Kodak Ektar for fine grain, faithful colour
Kodak Tri-X shot with a red filter at 200 ISO, but developed at 400 ISO for high contrast B&W shots, great for street photography. Preferably souped in Rodinal/Blazinal at a 1:25 dilution.
Ilford HP5 shot with a red filter for portraits of younger people, possibly blue filter for older people, also shot at 200 ISO, but developed at 400 . HP5 gives more tonal range over Tri-X, so I've used it more for landscapes.

Might be a little overkill for me, but I wanted something that didn't shout "I have a camera bag" and fit my gear+ a few daily items |

Shot We Day yesterday with an X-T1 and X-T10. Got way better results than last year with my 5D3 and my back didn't hurt after.

Got pretty lucky at the Camera Swap Meet this morning. Had been doing some research on macro lenses and have been monitoring prices on the Vivitar Series 1/Tokina 90mm F2.5 Macro for awhile. They're roughly $300-400 on eBay. One with some haze is showing up right now for $230 and that's the lens on its own without the matched macro adapter.
As I was leaving, I went for one more round and one guy was just opening up his booth and I saw a damn near mint version of the lens sitting on his table.
Google "Bokina" and you'll see why I'm stoked.
Came with the macro adapter. It was a tad dusty but I cleaned it and found zero dust inside, zero haze, zero fungus. Rubber is all fresh and the rings are smooth. Paid the guy $160. Some other dude came up to the table right as I was buying it and told me how crazy of a find this was. Beat him by a minute. |

just using my apsc 20mm lens on it thinking about the 28mm lens though there's a $30 discount at broadway camera atm :/
I haven't tried recording video, at least for long, i read some reviews stating it overheats in lab tests but in their practical use they haven't noticed overheating
i'd ask Senna, he has one too Quote:

ive hardly used my a7r2... and yesterday i received my first FE lens in the mail, went out immediately to take a few shots
looking over the photos in lightroom and i notice i have a lot of dust/particles on my sensor! (not on the lens)
-_- i stupidly thought i could blow it off with my mouth and then got a tiny speckle of spit on it
so what can i do to clean it? are those sensor cleaning sets capable? or should i just send it in to be cleaned...
never had to do this with my NEX3N |

Google for sensor cleaning guide. There are tons of them.
And never blow with your mouth, get a dust blaster.
As for supplies for sensor cleaning, I believe Beau carries them. Maybe call them to check availability.
