Who puts out a name like this as a movie?
If I Had Legs I'd Kick You
What?
First of all, director and writer was Mary Bronstein so I guess it's her show. I have not heard of who she is. Movie identifies as psychological drama film which I did NOT enjoy.

Yes, Rose Byrne was most famously in Bridesmaids but other than that, nope. Can't put my name down in any movie. Then we got Conan O'Brien who was pretty cool to see on screen again. Lastly, pops out Christian Slater for 1 scene.. what? Where has he been since Broken Arrow? Then A$AP Rocky who I have no idea why as it was only casted so there's some 'woke-ness' to it?

Mother is a psyc doctor and going thru dealing with daughter who need tube feeding. She herself has to go see psyc doctor who is Conan and that's pretty much the movie. One who provides help cant' really help. Blames everyone, doesn't take responsibility and then there were some mystical parallel which the director tries to do and it fails.

What a boring empty movie.

Old chinese new year movie which was a flop.
Yes it used a great cast, with some decent kick boxing acting from the 九龍城寨之圍城》(英文:Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In). Acting was sort of solid. Cast was good, just having 2 people doing crappy boxing fight didn't do justice. Then at the end, another boxing scene was fully of comical theatrics which was not really needed.

I did watch it for the cast, wife watched it for the 'turn of hated to letting go' but it coudln't save the film. Well, at least you get to see a heavily botoxed Louis Koo.

Movie should have went straight to DVD.
Yes it's a honger movie, at least it's all Cantonese thank goodness.

It's a very entry / junior / amature movie. Yes Louis Koo did all these ICAC movies and so did Kevin, but this was sub par even though they did a 'summary' at beginning.

Title of movie is Hybrid storm. I get the storm, meh. The Hybrid part was what????
Turns out the bybrid part was Chess / Boxing .... so you go box one round, and then you play chess. WHY?

Why in the world would you do that just to screw up the flow of boxing, so you get a black eye and the you pause and the play chess. GOsh. what a crap and weird concept.

I do have to say the boxer did have to train a while for this - yes he was more of a baby face and stuck in a few TVB drama, so its good to see him playing a brand new role.

Last ending action scene was just junk. All the other cases were sub par - I did appreciate all HK cast with all Cantonese without any major lip-sync voice voice but that was it.

Jay Kelly was a huge excitement for me as it was George K and then Adam S in a movie. Adam came a long way esp with him in the basketball recruiter and then dealing with gems, which took him to another level of a serious actor.
Now the movie is not really a comedy so that was what got me sucked in and to find out it wasn't. It's about life choices, relationships, and legacy and it didn't really jive so well.

Yes George is an actor, and he has a few flaws. Great on camera but family is in shambles. Walks thru him going thru ending a film and finding he's empty inside. It has its premise but it just didn't go anywhere.

Movie is shot nicely and Adam did pull his weight, jsut the script fell very flat. There were some flash back moments which did well but other than that it was not a well written story. You do get to see the life of an actor behind the scenes and how ones can be shallow but meh.. it didn't have any huge reward. George still can't cry and / or shed a tear.

My Best bet. This was Chinese New Year movie. It was suppose to be good and the 1/2 was crap. Great cast, just didn't execute well on the story even though it was all about gambling. What saved the movie? The antagonist and he of course was famous playing the bad guy roles. He was legit and funny playing a Korean guy. The entire movie, entire script written about him / on him / with him was just perfect. Few Korean one liners and final jokes scene were what got wife and I laughing. Other than that, nothing was unique. Charlene (girl who was Twins) is just botoxed too the max. Kaya9698 is up and coming artist / actoress so we'll see if she gets any movie.

I watch too many shit movies to realize what's actually good. I'm half way with Frankenstein. None of best motion picture - drama I liked or watched expect Sinners which I did NOT enjoy.

He plays the typical character so movie might be ok but acting was meh.

Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy- I will put Blue moon on my radar and also Bugonia. I did watch One battle after another. The ONLY movie I do want to watch is No Other Choice (korean movie - guy gets interview, up against 3 guys; so he decides to murder them).

Best Motion Picture - Animated
Demon hunters is famous. Elio was a good runner up but the script and emotional tug wasn't good. Zootpoia 2 I was going to watch and it's also rated high.

Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language
Sirat I reviewed, decent sound effect but weak script.
No other choice I mentioned above.

Actress - Did not watch any one of the chick movies to know what's good.

Actor - Dwayne J in smashing machine is ok. Sinners is a no. Frankenstein for Oscar Isaac is meh.

Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
All are crap. I might vote for Wicked 2 Cynthia Erivo, but I was told wicked 2 was dragged on for too long.

I might watch Bugonia cause of Emma Stone but she turned me off in Strange things from last year; or wahtever that movie she played weird robot.

Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture

Adam S in Jay Kelly
Benicio Del Toro One Battle after another
Sean Penn in One battle after another.

Sean Penn is really calling my name despite his role and script in movie was really werid.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

What a GREAT movie, tad long and LONG setup, all tributed to Rian Johnson who did all the 3 last Knives Out series.
Just so you know, the cast of this movie is crazy. Cast of 11 people with all big names all behind it.
Josh O'Connor was the "supporting" leading after Daniel Craig who played murder mystery / sherlock holmes Benoit Blanc. Josh TOTALLY was the perfect cast and he was SUPER solid in acting. Who is Josh, well he played one of the main cast in Challenger (tennis sport romance w/ Zendaya).
Glenn Close is now 78 and she is such a recognizable face and also a well casted person to hold up such a strong role. I don't remember her much other than 101 Dalmatians.

Rest of the cast all did well, and it was surprising to see Andrew Scott (he was also in James Bond) + Jeremy Renner who recovered well after snowplow accident.

Back to the movie; the setup is long and one really need to be comfortable with Catholic backdrop. Being a 2+ hour movie, you gotta wait be patient. You do know you would never be able to solve and once the curtains reveals, you feel a sense of OH... I get it.

Being complex, well seasoned murder mystery viewers, fully understand it must be well thought out and it totally did its job. Thankful for great director / producer and writer doing his job, I'm impressed. 50% of the movie was due to script, the other 40% would be due to Josh's acting, the last 10% would be due to the amazing lighting and directing. I didn't really care much about Daniel Craig and his long hair didn't do it for me.

Well recommended. Worth the 2 hr watch and reveal. Bonus if you understand Catholic practices.

The mastermind. So sad; i watched this movie because of Josh O'Connor after seeing Knives out above; but boy, just cuase Kelly Reichardt was writer and director did the movie, it was really bad. Poor writing, night shooting of a particular scene was like watching Games of Thrones' "The Long Night" when you can't see nothing.

Can't say much cause the only worth moment is a movie heist movie that's based 1970. The score, setting, and character wardrobe was good but the execution and story just sucked. There's no reason for a lot of boring things. No you don't need to show a person walking into a shed 4 times to put away 4 items in the dark.

Given Kelly (director) was 61, i guess she's just so into her 1970 crime film... but we're in 2025 - get with the program lady.

The Running man 2025
Wow, i do miss the classic of Arnold when I first watched it in the 90s (despite it was a movie in 1987 based on a theme of 2017). Glen Powell held his own in the movie, bluff and has SOME charisma which is still trying to build but I can't quite place why this movie still didn't' do well. Fact is the story is mediocre, script is junk, some of the action part was good but it only lasted for 15 mins. Then it zoomed out and made it became a let's go against the corporation type movie.

One has to make a movie that's direct, relatable and fun, this movie jumped between few themes and gosh, even had a home alone bit to it. Yes Josh Brolin did a legit bit but everyone else in the movie was truly wasted as they put too much woke-ness. Glen's wife was colored woman, the MC was black (honestly, no one will ever out do Chris Tucker in The 5th element). Heck, they even casted Michael Cera to give him a twist but it did not do well.

What a flop, 100 M with only a return of 60 M, at least I guess they will make it back from selling to the networks.

yes this is more of a tribute to Stephen King's 1982 novel, but doesnt' mean it's good.

Now you see me 3
What a large cast. Crazy now a 90 M budget still reign in 200+ M. Didn't feel it was too too exciting and even if there were some loop holes, the ending was something I did figure out. I guess in a way they had to bring in a new cast (no spoilers); this came at an expense of really crappy character development.

I honestly did not recognize Lizzy Caplan in any of hte movie at all. I also do miss Jesse Eisenberg's character as he was really just playing the same character again and again; everything felt flat cause just couldn't keep track of 10 people.

Turn off your brain and wait for finale and just enjoy the ride.

Frankenstein - 2025, now I love Guillermo del Toro
He has a way of telling stories is just amazing. I fell in love with classic Blade 2, then Pan's Labyrinth was just classic. Then the weaker ones were Hellboy 1/2, pacific Rim (ughh) and then epic Shape of Water.... Sadly, I passed on Pinocchio but decided to watch Frankenstein. The filming was epic, the colors, the cast, the costumes I fell in love with. The story telling was a flop. Yes this is NOT really about the creators but more from is Frankenstein a real monster?
I knew that going in so I was prepared for a different take. He did it in Pinocchio which I didnt' watch yet.

Does it save the film, not really. You have to like his work in order to love this. I found I fell in love with the costume + set design more than anything. The love story, the side stories, the everything else just wasn't it for me. I might have to watch Pinocchio to see if I can get back into this work.

Remember it's a long grind along with sort of a split on chapter 1 and 2. So I guess it's chance to stop and watch it if you're streaming.

We really enjoyed Frankenstein, and you can tell they put a boatload of money into the film, the effects were fantastic, beautifully shot film.

The only issue I had was how they made Frankenstein to be a sex symbol, I guess I've always been used to the ugly fuck version of the character, but I get it, the film is for the gals too.

Highly recommend it.

Finally got around to watching Anora (This year's Best Picture Academy Award winner). The first 30 mins or so was a softcore porno. The rest of it was a bumbling comedy that went a bit too long IMO. Still, an enjoyable watch but I did not expect it to not take itself so seriously. Best Picture? Really?

Aren't most movies that win awards not actually very good? I can't recall the last time I've seen one I actually liked.

Last year's nominees were a good batch. Oppenheimer, American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall were all excellent films IMO. Even this year's other nominees that I've seen that I think deserved it more - The Brutalist, Dune 2, Conclave.

The Substance however, Fuck, what a fucked up movie. Need eye bleach after watching it. Fuck fuck fuck. If you gross out easily stay away from it. I mean if you really want to watch the first hour or so because Margaret Qualley is a fine piece of ass and Demi Moore still is at age 60. But Faaawck that ending.
