what does this really have to do with the topic at hand?

i could care less what china does in the long run, if anything.. we all rely on china to produce goods for us anyways..

people here are against the idea of creating a north american union.. people feel it's bad because US has debt problems and.. well.. whole lotta problems and people here are worried those problems will transport themselves into this country..

yes, i'm from HK and you can probably tell from my english.. but i really don't care what happens in Asia outside of HK because that's where my relatives live and where I was born. My feeling is china is not a major factor in this union thing. I see it as US trying to get some help to fix its own country.

Here's a better idea than forcing everyone else into some unified country: move to the US.

What's wrong with joining up with Mexico? I guess we had better tell the EU that allowing Slovenia to join them was a bad idea, right?

I'm living in Canada because I'm forced to. Canada is a welcome mat for immigrants whereas the US is a giant steel wall with a door that opens for a select few. If I could have moved I would.

The cost of living, the individual rights, and the job market are just three of the main draws.

While the US may have its own debt problems we are not without ours. Unfortunately, our tax dollars are less effectively spent.

Also, I bring up China because it seems as if they as a country are eagerly awaiting the economic downfall of North America.

Why would they? China's economy pretty much depends on the US the most. Not to mention the fact that they have a trillion USD in reserve (last I heard).

so much idiocy in this thread...*sigh*

From the usual cabal of knee-jerk anti-Americans (whom I might add are mostly white Canadians) and who think Canada is some god given gift to those stick in the face of those obnoxious Americans (irony anyone?)...but have no qualms about dropping a few Cs in their trashy outlet malls.

To Loser Bastardo who thinks that China is stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds him. Oh and yes, all Chinese-born people are agents of the awaiting further instructions from the Motherland. Nevermind our short stature, better watch your back as we all can kung fu kick you all in the chin.

Fuck you losers. You'd all be better off with half your opinions and two times the brains.

I don't know how much you know about the US constitution, but in terms of property rights, US governments can seize your property just like here in Canada as long as it provides just compensation.

I'm not talking about any sort of militaristic invasion but more of a economic situation.

Once America has been bled dry and is in crisis, China will step in and let the Yanks suckle from the teet of the "motherland"....

...and so begins the age of economic dependence on China.....

BUT I'm going to withdraw myself what could be perceived as anti-China sentiment here as I worry about beginning to sound like +TheOne+

I'm not a xenophobe.
I support unity and fair trade but believe that a region should be self-dependent.

Your assertation that China has far reaching long term designs on becoming a global power is a valid one. However, at this moment many would agree that it is not in China's best interest to destablize the US...and by association, their own economy.

My biggest qualm is with your insinuation that the Chinese population here has divided loyalties when it comes to America v. China. That is not only wrong for the vast majority of those who's ancestries lie elsewhere but serves to perpetuate the racist stereotype that us Asians are "perpetual foreigners"... You only need to look as far as your typical beer swilling Anglo-Canadian to see the amount of anti-American bile that spews from thier mouths.

Ah, but I also consider the demographic:

The sons and daughters of Chinese industry peruse this very forum. Wouldn't such a situation benefit them?

I'm not saying that anyone is "working from within" to bring this about but it certainly wouldn't hurt them.

A topic for another thread.

But, thats for another thread. We should come back to the topic at hand.

sons and daughters of Chinese industry? What the fuck are you talking about?

Not all asians here are descendants of rich Hong Kong Tycoons. Some, if not most of us, are sons and daughters of working class 1st generation immigrant Canadians

The "target demographic" here might be too preoccupied with Gillian Chung's snatch to see through your thinly veiled bigotry, but it's pretty apparent to me.

Got a real point to make? Start a new thread. Aside from that, lets keep this one on topic.

Weaker Economic European Countries that joined the EU hurt its citizens more than it helped.

Keep deflecting. Just makes you seem more and more like a backpedeling racist.

When did I backpedal? When did I demonstrate racism?

You just keep using these meaningless buzzwords to try to pick apart what I said without actually citing any resources for your accusations. Your sensationalistic bullshit is weak.

And who the fuck is Gillian Cheung? What the fuck does she have to do with anything?

I think calling you a "Linguistic Ninja" is a misnomer. You're taking the National Enquirer approach to an argument and trying to make this seem like some outrageous situation. You're not adding anything to the discussion save for pointless accusations dressed up in fancy words.

bump.

Here is former PM Paul Martin talking about the SPP (Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America)

People are are saying the SPP is one closer step to the North American Union.

Fucking lol this thread is hilarious, looking back at everyone on the internet freaking out about Lord Bush taking over the NAU, and a year later he's leaving with a whimper in another couple of weeks, the NAU has yet to get even slightly closer now than it was when the SPP was signed, etc, etc. I'm sure they're all just biding their time though. It'll be even funnier when the US starts closing its borders to Canada/Mexico even further in a bid to up their own internal manufacturing in order to strengthen their economy. No point having cheap Mexican labour when there's now millions of Americans willing to work for minimum wage.

Also, the general idea of a one world government always strikes me as funny, the EU is barely a functioning body, with just enough power to keep the currency intact (if you ignore that England still doesn't even use it), and relatively no input on the day to day workings of the countries that comprise it.

The NAU may one day happen, but for it to be really scary it would have to be 100 times more cohesive than the EU, which is doubtful but anything is possible.

The next step after that would be to join the EU and the NAU, with the understanding that first the EU would have to be an actual conglomerated government, not the half assed UN that it is now.

After that things get murky. Assuming baby steps are needed, there would first have to be regional alliances made in South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, with varying degrees of difficulty considering many countries are barely staying together, then of course many countries can't stand each other (India/Pakistan, Sunni countries/Shia countries, Israel/everybody, most of Africa/itself), and so forth.

And of course the final, impossible step, join them all together.

Basically from here until about the next couple centuries the CIA and various affiliates would have to go on a multi-multi-trillion dollar spree of destabilization and installing puppet leaders in all the little countries. And pray to Jesus that China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, and every other halfway powerful country in the world would magically change their minds, because nothing short of all out war would get them to join with America/Israel

But sure sure, imagine that there will one day be a One World Government

I remember this thread. I liked this thread.

I still support the idea of the NAU.

Oh yea, and the UK isn't the only EU country that doesn't use the Euro. But they're the ones with the most reason to avoid using it.

I saw this doc maybe about a year ago, talks exactly about this topic. Kinda long and drawn out but if you're really into this kinda stuff, it should be a good watch.
