How can this be said simply? hmm.... I know I'll put it in a elementary school style equasion...

ABS + Traction Control = Woman

Traction control kind of yea.. can kind of see that the car could seem to be held down

but for ABS, i can't say it's woman that a car has ABS... the only downside for ABS is extra weight.. other than that, guarantee 95% of the time a car with ABS will stop better than one without.

there's nothing woman about being able to stop better and out brake the car next to you...

ABS doesn't allow you to out brake a car not equipped with it. If proper threshold braking is used it'll out brake an ABS equipped car anyday. Only advantage to ABS is the ability to NOT lock your brakes and allowing you to keep traction for manuevers.

i wasn't just talking about braking i na straight line

In emergency situation ABS is much better... ie in real life situations.

threshold on certain pavement/condition (dry typically) will give you better stopping in a striaght line.. but most of the newer ABS mimics the threshold braking "bell curve" which allows the wheels to lock up first then ABS kick in when braking to a dead stop...

threshold braking yes you can out brake ABS.. but probalby only for that 5% of the time you can... the other 95% (epsecially in worse conditions, corner left foot braking, rough surface, stoping at a banked conrner.. etc etc), ABS will pwn3d joo just because it allows different braking pressure to be applied to the wheels which threshold is just even with all

Agreed. ABS is a godsent in bad conditions and other extreme conditions. just feels awkward to have the pedal pulsate and shudder by itself. Also makes a mess in the engine bay other than that I'd love to have a working unit on my car.
