One of the things my friend said to me when she came to visit from the states is how ugly our skyline is. Too many glass buildings and generic looking condos.

In an area of the world thats expecting a significant earthquake we seem to be in love with building towers constructed seemingly from only glass and concrete. I'd hate to be in the street when the big one hits and be greeted with a shower of bloody death.

Vancouver's highrise architecture is cheap, looks cheap, and will prove to be unsafe.

Also, why do we need so many windows in a city that gets so much rain?

I brought up east indians when he said that Canadians, especially white ones, are racist and not inclusive of immigrants.

I said thats pretty ironic because Asian people (incl. East Indians) are the least inclusive groups on the planet, look at the continental divide between the cultures here, surrey and richmond.

And here in Vancouver I've seen some atrocious houses made by Western people, as well as nice ones done by Chinese businessmen.
