He knocked the team and how we weren't contenders during his first presser. He says the Sedins aren't players you build your team around and now he's looking to re-sign them to long term contracts. Said that he had a plan B and plan C all along and now all he is doing is backing up and saying he'll give the prospects a shot. Yeah...VERY nice backup plans there Gillis.

Watched the prospects games. Kept my eye on Hodgson and Grabner most of time and I can say that these are the two that stood out the most. Hodgson clearly has the edge on other players on hockey iq, stick handling, and vision. But he was left in the dust by many players. Definitely needs to work on his skating. Grabner is a flat out sniper. With the right guy to set him up he can do a lot of damage.

I'm really excited to see if Grabner gets a spot because the guy bulked up a lot over the past year.

Gillis is right though. The Sedins aren't players you build a team around. He has that in Luongo, but I think he meant a true leader like a Sundin. If he doesn't find that this year, he should save some money to try again next year until he has what he is looking for. A true on ice and in the dressing room leader that is the face of the Canucks.
It would take a lot of pressure off Luongo as well. Can you imagine the pressure this guy is under? Although he has seemed to thrive on it, you can't rely on that. Against popular belief the man is human.
I'm not knocking the Sedins either. I've supported them since their rookie season when I'm sure a lot of you weren't.

to be fair, at least judging from the quotes you chose, they aren't slagging on the team at all. the comments are directly towards gillis, more specifically how he's a hypocrite. how he's the one that slagged on certain players of his team then goes around saying they're all part of his bigger picture.
