Yes. Waste so much time answering stupid questions or them wanting to reaffirm their greatness with the professor.

Chubby dude... Asian with glasses?

I think I might know who you guys are taking about, I've had a few classes with him. So annoying.

For the past 4.5 years I have not once talked to a random girl in one of them big lecture rooms. I feared they would respond arrogantly saying " do I know you?!" or just snob me off.

Well, Being this will be my last semester I will just talk to one and if she responds with that attitude I will just say " wow learn to have a conversation".

Anyone had any experiences like that or at least had the balls to talk to some random chick ? And when I mean talk I don't mean " o hey did our prof send out the solutions yet ?"

its still early on in the semester so you can ask a stupid question, try to sit in the same spot every class, if she does the same you know there's some interest IMO

Has anyone worked for the Student Campus Safety Program (SCSP)? Is it a paid job? If so what was the pay like? I saw a student worked for the security and got curious

here's the link to the program: Student Engagement Opportunities - Safety & Risk Services - Simon Fraser University

Yes, it's paid. You start at $10.50 or so and work your way up to a max of $12. No BST required.

I think it's you or racingmetro that I saw, Asian guy like you said, and a student as well. I have seen this guy in the gym and parking lot quite a few times. I didn't see him wearing the yellow jacket, so I thought he might be a permanent security guard. I saw the job application as a sfu security guard before, it's paid pretty decent. Wondering if it's possible to become a formal security guard transitioning from the student security program?

If by "in the gym" you mean working out, then it's definitely not me LOL

The transition is possible, however, it will not be done directly through the department. Security at SFU is contracted to Concord Security, so you would have to be employed with them first and then request to be assigned to SFU. I'm not sure how likely it is that Concord accepts assignment requests, so it's best to ask them directly. Note: you will most likely be assigned to graveyard (11PM-7AM) when you first start as a security guard at SFU.

To avoid any confusion, student patrollers and management are directly hired by SFU, so they are SFU employees and work alongside the Concord guards.

The hours are dependent on which duty you are assigned to. Shifts are available 7 days/week and start as early as 8AM and end as late as 12:15AM. Shift's are usually 4-5 hours in length but you could be booked for two consecutive shifts in a day, so you could be working 8-10 hours.

I will say hi next time. How does the discount parking work? Does the discount only works if you park by hours, or do semester permits also have dismount?

Anyone else feel bad when working out on those new cardio machines they got with the digital screen and wireless?

ever since they got them at the beginning of the year, I'm getting chest pain in different locations when working on those. If I stay away from them I'm fine, and have o pain when I go run outside. For example I went hiking last weekend for 6 hours, I had high pulse throughout the day and no pain. Yet I can't run for more than 4 minutes before I'm getting chest pain on these machines

I noticed they are wireless, so I'm thinking they could be similiar to the hole smart meter fiasco. Apparently this is what's happening to your cell when you get exposed to high RF/MW radiation

I was skeptical about the whole smart meter fiasco, especially since I live in an apartment building so never had to deal with it, but after getting chest pains all of the sudden as soon as these machines were brought in, it got me thinking.

P.S. I had an EKG done in December for my job, and it came out clean so no, I don't have any heart problems

I wonder how high the RF field is in these. Apparently the limit in Canada is 3 W/mē
