the lighting from the streets are way to bright and I could see shit. |
Garry's Point is alright but too far for me haha |
Heading to Cypress tonight. :D |
is there actually one for tonight? |
yup there is! it should start around sun set when the constellation of Perseus rises. It should be visible till early morning of the 12th http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...htm?list778348 |
There aren't a lot of places in the Vancouver/Tri-city/Richmond areas where you can get to a dark enough area in order to see it properly. You need to either head north to at least Cypress (or even Grouse) or east towards the countryside of Langley onwards. I've already got my spot picked out for tonight. |
Westwood Plateau/BBY Mtn? |
Whats the best time to view the meteor shower? |
http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2006/08/11/perseids.html it seems like the meteor shower started saturday and will last until the 24th... gonna go check it out tonight... anyone know how to take pics of them with a DSLR? |

Suppose to peak just after midnight. CBC suggested to head out to Pitt Lake. |
grouse mtn ? |
grouse mountain, cypress, any where thats far away city lights as possible... heard it's best at arnd 2am... |
Pitt Lake, or up that direction, is great - the surrounding mountains block out the city lights nicely without blocking too much of the sky. |
Dammit... I wanna head up tonight, but I gotta be up for work at 6... and I still don't have a remote for my 40D. Stupid Canon for changing the plugs! |
