depends which line of hugo boss...their t-shirts and jackets with a big hugo boss logo on it is just way overplayed
but they still make one of the best suits

BlackZRoadster 09-21-2008 02:11 PM

its impossible to say a brand is overplayed by one of their lines and say their other stuff is not overplayed. Keep in mind boys'co did carry boss suits, im not sure now.

harry rosen carries juicy and JL stuff that can be found in boys'co, so i guess lot of the stuff at harry rosen is overplayed too

ppl say CA is overplayed, so they tie in smet and hardy as overplayed. You cant say CA tshirts are overplayed and say their board shorts arent overplayed and so on...

thATS quite a lot, if you think about it. There are like over 30 designs, that's already 3000 shirts in BC. The only stores that carry it are the 4 different boys cos, and maybe a couple in holt renfrew.

but have you ever worn a dom rebel shirt, walk on the streets and see someone with the exact same shirt at the same time?
plus the hoodies are comming in soon. and with like what, 100 in bc? :D

nosleepboy87 09-21-2008 10:14 PM

wello.....at lot of once so called "high end luxury retail stores" such as harry rosen and holt renfrew are starting to carry more mainstream brands now. they moved away from just carrying designer label.

i startd wearing dom rebel back in 2005, before of all the craziness.

beanzzz 09-23-2008 08:52 PM

when the new dom rebel collection was released i raided every boys co and bought almost every shirt they had in a size small. ;p i think the only reason why its become so popular these past few months is because their current collection somewhat resembles Christian Audigier and Ed Hardy (skulls, busy design, etc.). it might become overplayed but i don`t see it becoming a brand that is going to die anytime soon, considering their designs change quite a bit from collection to collection and as b.vu stated, it is sold in limited quantities and is only available a few times a year.

i just found out about the brand about a year ago, since then i`ve been spending my time searching eBay, forums and facebook for shirts from their older collections.

dussault should have stayed as a custom design company, they had a thier own store in gastown, which was pretty dope before they changed the name from deuce to dussault, then moved to LA.

The late 80'/early 90's will never come back - trust me, I was there. LOL

shawn79 05-20-2009 03:42 AM

no matter how much people tries to defend boysco, it will always and forever be known as a over played over price store

isn't dat almost all the common brands out there? lol

6insomnia9 05-21-2009 12:39 AM

Who cares what is over played or what not, wear whatever you think looks good on you.

btran 05-21-2009 01:38 AM

clothes that are considered played out is just clothes that are expensive and people buy to show off their wealth

Marco911 05-21-2009 04:04 AM

Brands that gain widespread acceptance by the lower to middle-class and where the clothes are sourced from third world countries.

Moratorium 05-21-2009 04:23 AM

Marco's description is more or less accurate. I'd say there are a couple brands that have stood the test of time and are generally respected despite who wears them. Nike, Adidas, Levis come to mind. Another thing with a brand like nike is that it has its hands in a lot of different sub cultures: Shox, SB dunks, Trainers, Basketball shoes etc.

I guess a sure fire way of telling when something is overplayed is when imitations start popping up everywhere.

EG: The fake ed hardy hats at night market, and I saw an old chinese man wearing a bathing fape tee.
