Breaks my heart because I've been using TLC for probably 10+ years and they're incredibly nice people. I arrived at 5:35 yesterday, they had already locked up but they let me in anyways and they actually had my FedEx package. I told them the border was nuts and I lined up for close to an hour despite it being a relatively short line (fucking border patrol...) and they said they already know so they let me in.

I went and signed up at Shell though. I'll be using them if I encounter one more lineup at TLC. I believe in customer loyalty...but I hate lining up. Like...really hate it.

Old dude at the Shell station seems cool. Much smaller operation, looks like, but they're open 7 days and til 7pm each day.

Left an empty box with him that I'll pick up next time. :ilied:

Yeah, I've been going to TLC for over ten years too. Crap only ever hits the fan around December for them... the rest of the year is usually fine. I remember a few years back, they were less organized, and around December when the volume came, they had trouble finding people's packages, and people were being told to come back another day.

With all the word to mouth that Shell is getting now, it's probably only a matter of time before they get more volume than they can handle in their current state.

Left an empty box? Why?

Ronin 12-06-2012 11:15 AM

Think about it.

I don't think shell will be too busy. I don't know how many people know about it outside of RS. Out of five of my friends who use The letter carrier the only other one they knew of was TSB.

They had no idea of Point to Point or Shell.

+1 for shells
just signed up on Monday and everything is good to go already
received an email that my package came in
in just under a hour of fedex scanning it delivered

UFO 12-06-2012 01:28 PM

Shell has done a lot in the past 2-3 years to better their service and capacity as well. I remember when I first started there from TSB it seemed like just a ghetto counter in the back and a shed outside their building.

gars 12-06-2012 01:34 PM

The guys are shell are awesome. If you email them beforehand, saying you'll be by the next day in the morning to pick up, they'll have it ready. They won't even have to go to the back to find it, etc.

Hows the exchange rate at shell?

At TSB when paying with Canadian, it's $1.10 Canadian for every $1 USD.

Long lineup coming soon at P2P.
in another note, the girl that works at P2P used to work at TLC, I wonder if TLC is owned by the same people as P2P ?

that's a pretty god damn wild jump - just because someone moves jobs doesn't mean they're owned by the same people. as far as i'm aware, mr. lomedico (TLC) does not own, nor have an interest in P2P

i hope p2p doesn't get busy like TLC is, i really like my quick jump overs every weekend

StylinRed 12-06-2012 05:15 PM

CBC news was just saying that peoples packages were being sent back because TLC is too full and new customers are being turned away

It's a small town. There aren't many places one can work.
The pub, the market, the marina, the gas station, the golf course, and these parcel receiving places. There isn't much else around.

So she probably quit the TLC or got fired and then TLC wasn't hiring anymore so she went to p2p.

Point 2 Point just updated their website with a pop up screen that reads "We have an additional 4800 sq.ft. of empty space ready and waiting. This makes us the largest facility in Point Roberts, and we have no space restrictions in place. Please register with us before sending your first package." Guess you guys have nothing to worry about.

sexyaccord 12-07-2012 02:56 PM

I just noticed TLC doesn't accept tires anymore

Some updates from TLC today:

Quote:

IF YOU ARE NOT A REGISTERED CUSTOMER DO NOT SHIP TO OUR FACILITY, WE WILL ATTEMPT TO REFUSE ALL UNREGISTERED CUSTOMER PACKAGES. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU HAVE USED US IN THE PAST. WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING UNREGISTERED CUSTOMER PACKAGES PERIOD.
WE CANNOT ADD CONTAINERS TO OUR SITE OR WE WOULD.

Ronin 12-07-2012 04:00 PM

Well that settles it. I didn't know we had to register at TLC. Never did in the past. I did register at Shell though...so I guess I know where I'm going now. Thanks for making the decision for me.

Did you get email notifications when packages arrived for you at TLC? If so, then I think that would be considered registered. At least I hope so.

wingies 12-07-2012 04:14 PM

Yea dont you have to register to get email notifications? Or do you just go down when ups/fedex etc. says delivered on their site?

Ronin 12-07-2012 04:16 PM

Nope, never gotten an e-mail ever.

Jet 12-07-2012 04:30 PM

Wow, I've been using TLC for a long time now like most of you but I don't ever remember seeing it this bad before ... luckily I had a thing shipped there before everything hit the fan cause I was in and out of PR in 10 mins last week ...

Looks like its time to look at other alternatives if I do need things shipped ...

cairo1 12-07-2012 04:58 PM

I had tires in transit before they posted the first notice on Nov 29. UPS tried to delivery on the 30th and they rejected it... $150 out of pocket for shipping and restocking fees.

Ouch, that really sucks. :okay:

twstd_reality 12-07-2012 10:50 PM

Anyone else confused by this on shell's site?

Quote:

Package pickup and shipping are available inside the store from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, seven days a week
You can pickup packages from 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM subject to a short delay due to limited staff.
Is it just me or you can only pickup packages certain times of the day?
