Yeah.... they just emailed me back and said they won't take the package, you gotta go down there and sign it first, can't even fax it or scan/send it in.

Stay away from PR Shell!

Started off using TSB and then switched to P2P, been using PR Shell last 6 months (go down twice a week on average this summer) and been very happy.

P2P had issues with compromised credit cards for some customers which is fine for me since I don't use CC for the few dollars of parcel fees. I used them pre-nexus as it was the best for walking across the border. Got sick of them hassling me about middle initials (have a common name I guess), I always wrote middle initials when I ordered online and even in the comments section would emphasize the importance of middle initial to the sellers but occasionally they just don't do it. They are good with replying to e-mails but the service is a hit or miss and occasionally a lineup of 4 people = a 10 minute wait. Waiting area is small so if it's busy you may find yourself waiting outside

TSB too busy and expensive, if I were only going down once a month the price wouldn't be a big deal but this summer alone I've saved over $50 using PR Shell over TSB. Overcrowded parking lot and a few experiences with lineup going out the door or looking like a game of snake and I was done. Great bunch of people but its not for me

PR Shell, love the fact that I can buy a cold drink or a hot coffee, get gas (FRN card for the win!), and get my packages at one place. Yeah they take a bit longer to get my packages than P2P or TSB but I save time and money being able to do everything there and paying their cheaper rates. There's always a parking spot close to the front entrance although lately I've just left my car at the gas pump so I don't need to move it. Never ever had to deal with a long lineup.

Eventually PR shell might jack up their prices or get too busy for their own good and I'd be open to switching, but I'm happy how they are now. I recommend them to all my friends, especially those that work m-f 9-5 and can only really do Saturdays when the border wait can get out of hand.

If you are using PR shell right now let me know if you also think the black guy (Julian) looks like he could be Jamie Foxx's brother.

You've used and dismissed tsb and p2p. Tlc is done. Not many options left...

Heads up, I found an awesome shipping place in Blaine. Way better than any place in Point Roberts at the moment (even PR Shell)

No lineups, ever.
$2 per package. Yes, $2 per package up to 50lbs

Spoiler!

Problem with Blaine is the Peace Arch if you don't have Nexus.

And it's further.

if going to P2P, just park along 1st, walk over, it's a 10 min round trip.

with the recent road widening, this is your quickest option on the weekend

I've gotten across the border in less than 2 minutes at times and other times it takes 30 minutes. There's usually no line up at TSB though. I always go mid-week, like Tuesday/Wednesday. I actually went yesterday and it took less than 5 minutes.

The border line-up on the way back is usually 10-15 minutes.

+1

It's usually much quicker if you're picking stuff up from P2P. Pedestrian traffic goes before cars, so you're basically cutting everyone off when you go into PR and when you leave PR.

You can carry unlimited garbage bags of cheap gas, they might tax you though.

Probably because you're going at the same time everyone else is...because they all close at 5.

Yes, I have used them before. I pick up packages like every other day from them. It's even better how these guys are 7 days a week, and you can come pick up packages VERY LATE after the morning/afternoon border jam eases up.

Hands down the best parcel receiving place I've used. They are fairly new so with less clients registered so far it equals non-existant lineups. Hell, I'd pay more than $2 per package they charge for their service.

I can keep track of how many parcels are ready to pick up from their website.

Hi everyone,

My name is Jamie and I run 5dpackages. I thought I'd register just to post and clarify some things. I have gotten the okay from the moderator "Lomac" to post here.

It's great to see people saving money by purchasing online and shipping to Blaine or Point Roberts, whether it be with us or the many other companies around here.

A company that receives mail on behalf of others needs to be registered with USPS as a CMRA (Commercial Mail Receiving Agent). This requires every customer to fill out the 1583 form and provide 2 pieces of ID, which authorizes the package receiving company to receive packages on behalf of the user.

I am Asian, but I had no idea 5d meant "faster" until my Dad mentioned it to me.

I figured most customers are Canadians, so it would be most convenient to have a local number to avoid those outrageous long distance fees.

If anyone has any questions, send me an email at support (at) 5dpackages.com, or reply here and I'll answer as soon as possible!

5dpackages: Blaine Parcel Receiving

EDIT: I've just created a coupon for $5 credit towards your account when registering. The coupon code is "REVSCENE5" and will be activated as soon as you pick up a package in person. Enjoy!

EDIT2: We've changed up the registration process a bit. To get the $5 coupon, register first, then send me a PM with your name/PMB and the coupon will be manually added to your account.

Can we fill out the form in person when we pick up the packages? Or do we have to send in the form prior to the packages arriving?

Officially, USPS wants the form before any packages are sent, but I haven't had any problems having customers fill out the form once the package arrives. There is another company in Blaine that has the same process.

In my experience it is cheaper.
The USA mini-mart (and the gas station beside it, forgot the name) usually has the lowest prices, but their pumps don't work well if you're filling up gas cans due to a safety switch in the pump. Also, it's slow if you're paying inside because their cash register/payment processing is antiquated and slow. I usually pay the extra couple cents a gallon and go to the Shell instead.
